This is not my favorite book from this author. After the last book I had read, I expected much more.

It starts off okay enough. There is enough intrigue as to what might happen when the book first takes off, but it doesn't take long to get to a point where the reader is going to want the author to just on with it already.

The main plot in this book evolves around one thing, which is very clear it is not that at all. The author keeps on this particular point, which tells the reader it's going to be something entirely. I think we are supposed to be so obsessed with the who that we don't pick up on the other little things going on in the subplots. I found myself getting annoyed, wanting something to happen.

The characters are all over the place. They're up. They're down. They're left. They're right. I couldn't decide if I liked them or not. I'm assuming there are a few we aren't supposed to like at all, but those are the characters who are the most real and refreshing in this story.

I had a feeling once I got the answers I was going to be highly disappointed. In that respect, I was not wrong. The last twenty percent of the book had me rolling my eyes. The good stuff, which should have happened earlier in the book, happened at the end of the book. This is one of those books where had we been given a small piece of the ending at the beginning, it would have been so much better.

I am in the minority with this book. I was very underwhelmed with this book as a whole.

The families of four longtime girlfriends rent a luxurious villa in the south of France for a relaxing vacation together, in lieu of the normal girls' getaways the women often share together. Soon after arrival, Kate, mother of two and wife to Sean, uncovers some disturbing and mysterious text messages on her husband's phone and quickly realizes he is having an affair...with one of her friends currently in the villa with them. As the vacation ambles on and Kate tries to figure out who has betrayed her, family secrets are revealed and lives are destroyed forever when someone is found dead on the villa's property.

I love stories of "vacations gone awry" so this mystery/thriller was a solid entertaining read for me. I wish the setting had been even more a focus of the book, as it could have taken place anywhere in the world and I do love a strong sense of place. The awkwardness and uncomfortable exchanges between the various family members were well done, and I had no idea which direction the plot was heading.

A good summer read!

Another T.M. Logan book that I enjoyed. I thought I had some of the twists figured out but it turns out that was not the case. (I was half right on one of them though!) Definitely didn't go the way I expected it to but not in a bad way.

What was meant to be a relaxing vacation with a group of friends turned out to be anything but that. Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t expect and kept me guessing, which I love in a book. This was my first book by the author and I would definitely like to check out more of his books.

4.5 First, a sincere thank you to NetGalley for sharing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I began The Vacation with a sense of both anticipation and trepidation, anticipation because I've loved other books by this author, trepidation because there's always the risk that an author (unintentionally no doubt) will let you down. I shouldn't have feared. Great plot, great characters, a seamless multi narrative voice, & enough twists & turns to keep you reading all night from cover to cover -- I did.

A new author that I haven't read any books by in the past T. M Logan. I didn't know what to expect with The Vacation but was or disappointed. A intriguing story about a group of old friends with their families get together for a week vacation. It had me wondering what will happen next the whole time reading it. I never expected the ending. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

WOW TM Logan has done it again with this page turner of a thriller! I couldn't ever figure out "whodunit" because EVERYBODY was guilty! A group of life long friends vacationing should be so much fun but so much went so very wrong in just a weeks time! So twisty and good to the very end. Loved it!

Kate, Rowan, Jennifer and Izzy have been best friends for over two decades. Work, marriage, children has prevented them from seeing one another as they used me for quite a few years now. So they decide to go on a family vacation together --their first-- in the South of France and finally spend some quality time together and catch. Little did they know that this vacation was going to change everyone's life... for the worst. What starts as a fancy getaway turns into nightmare straight out of hell in a matter of days.

This all starts with Kate's husband, Sean, acting differently. Everybody picks up on the tension between Kate and Sean. Kate's suspicions get confirms after she snoops in her husband's cell and comes across disturbing texts messages between him and another woman. He is having an affair.. with one of her friends!!!!! These texts lead to Kate's insecurities resurfacing and blurring her objectivity: what are those texts? How is communicating with? Is he going to leave her? Are they trying to find to right time to "tell her"?

I enjoyed the book all right. I had a hard time getting into it because there are simply too many characters: 4 couples and 5 kids! As much as I was intrigued by the relationships between the adults, and curious about their unfolding, I was just as annoyed every time the story was focusing on one of the kids. Even more annoyed when the story was told by one of the children's perspective. But it was a good book after all, a quick and fun read for the summer.

I am giving it a 3.5 stars.

A dream vacation with family and friends in a luxurious villa in the south of France. What could go wrong? Kate and her three best friends have decided to enjoy a getaway with each other and their families. It sounds like a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, Kate discovers incriminating texts on her husband’s phone, and they seem to be related to him having an affair with one of her three best friends.
All of a sudden, this vacation has taken on a different slant. How do you pretend to enjoy time with your friends and family when one of them may be cheating with your husband? What other secrets are being kept from Kate? While working to determine the guilty party, Kate discovers that there is more than one secret being kept. There is danger and intrigue around every corner.
I loved the way this book started and the path that it followed. Based on clues from Kate’s point of view, I spent quite a bit of time trying to determine the guilty party. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, as one mystery after another was revealed. It is a definite page-turner! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

A holiday with friends...what could go wrong? In this story...everything.
The stakes keep getting raised as trust issues crept in between a group of friends that once trusted each other.
The past that intertwined between the friends was heavy in secrets, betrayals and assumptions and they all played out in a deadly cat and mouse game.
The slow pace of the story revs up to an ending you don't see coming.

I'm a TM Logan fan and was looking forward to The Vacation - the title alone was intriguing enough for me to request it.

I loved that the four main characters were best friends from university and were intertwined in many more ways, which you untangle as go.

I also love a book where I am suspicious of every character and am constantly changing my mind. It just makes a book so much fun to read.

Trust me when I say... this is not what you think it is!

Four couples and their families travel to a tricked out house in the South of France to celebrate their fortieth birthdays. Immediately, Kate begins to suspect her husband Sean is having an affair with one of her three former roommates. Rowen is extremely successful and on the verge of a deal that will increase her wealth. Wealth Sean has always coveted. Jennifer, who had dated Sean before he and Kate had gotten together, is the woman Sean admitted was his best lover. Izzy, who has led a carefree, single life, mentions a new love but she refuses to divulge the details. As Kate digs deeper, she discovers more secrets and lies than she ever imagined. She learns that each marriage has its own problems.

I really enjoyed another of the author’s books, LIES, so I was excited to give VACATION a go. While VACATION is fast paced and includes the twists and turns thriller lovers adore, I felt the author was a bit too heavy handily used manipulation. In two scenes the point of view character finds a object and the object is not identified until a later chapter to build suspense. I prefer thrillers where the clues and red herrings are more masterfully interwoven into the story. The cast of key characters is huge with seven adults and five children, and many of the characters have chapters where they act as the narrator. The ending comes fast and furiously, but some of the things that happen seem a bit implausible, in my opinion. Nevertheless, the ending nicely ties up loose ends and unravels the mystery elements, delivering a satisfying conclusion.

The kids in the story are well developed. The youngest one Odette is a spotlight stealer, illuminating the narrative with her antics. The dynamics between the children with their unique baggage is my favorite part of the story. I like the setting with the ominous cliff area, fancy luxury home, and nearly vineyard.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Three couples and a single woman meet at a vacation home. Someone starts to distrust the others and the book keeps you guessing as to who is not the person they appear to be. Every time I thought o had it figured out I was wrong. Good thriller that will keep you reading into the night to reach the end.

The story itself was ok, but it felt a bit too forced in thinking that the husband was cheating with one of her the best friends. I feel like it was lacking some plot development to just jump right to that conclusion

The blurb of this book was super intriguing to me. Having read Lies by Mr. Logan, I was really excited to read this book. It is touted as a mystery/thriller, but after closing the book, I didn't get any of that at all.

Kate is on vacation with her family and her closest girlfriends. Right off the bat she discovers text messages on her husband's phone that make her believe he's having an affair, and she thinks it's with one of her best friends. Who does that to one of their best friends, especially one you've been friends with for a ton of years.

It pretty much felt like everyone on this vacation was hiding some kind of secret! But no one was really talking to each other about any of it, and the book was just SO slow. It felt like a chore to read, it was not engaging me at all, which was so disappointing since I absolutely loved the previous book I had read by Mr. Logan.

The ending of this story left me somewhat unsatisfied, but I won't let that deter me from continuing to read Mr. Logan's books going forward.

Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an advanced review copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Getaway gone wrong! I really enjoyed this one. Friends go on what should be a grand trip together and that's when the secrets start coming out. This one had a twist for sure. It was a fast read, but I enjoyed it! I would like to read other books by T.M Logan soon.

Four friends go on a vacation with their family and murder and secrets follow. The main character worries that her husband may be having an affair with one of her friends and tries to figure out which one it is, as everyone seems to have something they are hiding. This is one of those stories where everything would be easily solved if people would just talk to each other. The final twist was pretty good.

Another great story from T.M. Logan. It grabbed me from the beginning with trying to figure out who was sending the text messages to Kate's husband, Sean. They are on vacation with all her best friends and their families. Which one of her friends is the messenger? If that isn't enough to keep you entertained, There are kids, hidden texts, who to trust, and...dangerous outcomes. It's a great read, keeps you on your toes! I truly enjoyed it and reccomend.

4 college friends meet up for a vacation with their families. Lots of secrets and lies in this one - it starts out a bit slow but intensified as it went along. The ending was not what I was expecting so that was a plus for me. Can't say I liked it as well as Lies or 29 seconds but it was good overall. I think this book wins the award for the most annoying and obnoxious characters.. Definitely wouldn't want to be on vacation with them. I'd give this one 3 1/2 stars.

A story of friendship, family and definitely drama and misunderstandings. Four friends meet in France with their families to enjoy their vacation. But things aren’t what they seem. A secret message turns everyone into a suspicious suspect. Are things as they seem? What are they hiding ?
