The synopsis of this book caught my interest. A week-long vacation at a luxurious villa in France with your long time friends and their family. It was the perfect getaway, so Kate thought. Kate finds a text message on her husbands phone and suspects that he is having an affair with one of her friends and its going to find out the truth by the end of the week. Someone else has something else in mind and is willing to keep the secrets hidden at any cost, even killing someone.

This was a slow start but it quickly picked up. The twists and turns had me guessing the ending. I felt I was vacationing at the villa with the author's great description of the villa and its surroundings. Great story. Will be looking into this author's other works to add to my reading list.

Thank you NetGalley, Author and Publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I went into this book with absolutely no clue what was in store for me, but quickly found myself hooked within the first few pages. The book centers around four friends who are collectively celebrating their milestone birthdays together. They bring their husbands and children along for the trip and are all set to enjoy a getaway week in France. Of course, there's just one hangup or rather multiple hangups, that will quickly cause the vacation to unravel. Each of the four women has a secret as do other family members. This book is absolutely packed with plot developments that keep you guessing and have you breathlessly turning the pages to find out more. Just when you think you have it all figured out, you realize you were completely wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced thriller!

The Vacation is a captivating thriller full of surprises and twists that will keep you intrigued and guessing what happens next. The novel is narrated by Kate, a married mother of 2 who is reuniting with 3 of her college friends and their families for a vacation. Kate finds a suspicious text conversation on her husband’s phone that leads her to believe he is having an affair with one of her friends. But who is it and how does someone wind up dead? TM Logan sets the scene of a creepy vineyard estate in France. The story bounces back and forth between characters and kept me guessing until all was revealed at the end. Everything was tied together well and I was surprised and shocked by the ending. The Vacation has everything you’d want in a thriller, creepy setting, untrustworthy characters, and several small twists and misdirections to keep you guessing!

I’ve had the pleasure of reading T.M. Logan’s Lies and 29 Seconds, so I was delighted for the opportunity to indulge in The Vacation, his latest book.
The premise doesn’t break new ground: several couples, their children in tow, spend a holiday on a rustic and sprawling European estate, where day-to-day tensions rise to the surface and secrets are unearthed. I encountered this plot about two weeks ago in Jane Shemilt’s The Playground, and you’ve also likely been to this place before (well, maybe not in real life, but if you do spend your holidays with friends in lush European estates, please let me know, because I’d love to join you).
The good news, though, is that Logan’s exquisite descriptions of the French countryside kept me engaged (and provided a respite to this current cabin fever). The Vacation is a slight (yet welcome) departure from the gloomy feel of 29 Seconds, yet retains the suspense that will leave you guessing right up until the last few chapters. I also appreciated that this drama/mystery seemed to be a bit more complex.
Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and T.M. Logan for graciously providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This novel carried itself like a paper bag on the wind, floating on a crisp Autumn day. With many ups and downs, the characters lead us on a chase and with every building moment, you felt as if you know the outcome, but booommmm right there like a hidden snake under a rock, it all breaks open like a rain cloud in a thunder storm!

Yayyy I was so excited that I was able to read an ARC because I have read other books by this author. I thought I had it figured out around 80% of the book read but boy was I wrong. There isn't just one twist there are several that will leave you speechless. I really loved this book!!

I didn't get very far with this one before setting it aside. It just seemed tired. I wanted to like it, but it didn't hold my attention.

Summary:

What can go wrong when three families go on vacation to the south of France for a week? Kate, Rowan, Izzy, and Jennifer have been best friends since college. The women decide to go on a weeklong holiday to celebrate their 40th birthdays. Each family comes full of secrets and baggage regarding their personal lives. This intense dramatic domestic mystery has secret after secret revealed throughout the novel throughout by changing perspectives of the narrators.

My Thoughts:

The book starts out quickly by revealing the first revelation about Kate questioning her husband and finding out a secret he is keeping from her. Many secrets begin to unravel about all of the families and their children. It slows down a bit in the middle, but the plot quickens up again and becomes extremely intense. It is an emotional rollercoaster towards the end and has many unexpected twists.

I received this as an early copy from Netgalley in exchange for a review. This will be released in July 2020. I definitely recommend this for a summer read!Hi

T.M. Logan is a master illusionist and his newest book The Vacation is a delicious example of his work.
It is a slow burner of a thriller that led me down a rabbit hole looking left and right for all the clues but still felt like I was hit by a train when the smoke cleared.

It's the type of book you pick up one afternoon and finish in a sitting because you become invested in the story and characters and I just wanted to KNOW what happened.
There was a lot of characters and sub-plots but I felt that it gave a richer profile to the "who dunnit" portion of it.

I definitely recommend this book!

The book begins with this epigraph: It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.” William Blake

Three Families

Seven Days

TOO MANY SECRETS TO COUNT!!

It’s supposed to be the perfect vacation, until Kate comes across a thread of text messages between her husband, Sean and CoralGirl.

The texts suggest an affair and a plan to figure out “what to do” while they are both in France...which means that the woman involved is also on this trip, and that means it’s one of her best friends..

But which one?

Rowan..who has always been more clever than Kate?

Jennifer, who has always been prettier?

Or Izzy, the funnier one, who always makes Sean laugh?

(I suspected each woman at one time or another!)

Kate has caused each of these women PAIN, at some point in their friendship.

What kind of pain, gets revealed, a little bit at a time...

But, Kate thought these bygones had all been put to rest.

Turns out that somebody has a secret that they would KILL for, and
not everyone will survive (not a spoiler, revealed right after the epigraph)

I was engaged from the VERY first page and read this book in ONE DAY!

the REVEAL surprised me, and was actually plausible...at the 90% point.

I wish it had ended there.

The final 10% went a bit too far....but overall, it was entertaining and unputdownable for me!

Thank You to Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press and T.M Logan for the digital ARC I received in exchange for a candid review!

This book is published under the title “The Holiday” in the UK and available now!

Published under the title “The Vacation” in the U.S and will be released on July 21, 2020

I have enjoyed all three of this author’s titles, and look forward to seeing what he comes up with next!

When four female college roommates decide to get together again for their 40th birthdays, they bring their families along to a beautiful villa in the south of France. What is supposed to be a relaxing, fun getaway for them all is anything but. Secrets abound, and the tension is riveting up for the grand finale. Thank you to NetGalley for this story of families, friends and misinformation.

In exchange for an honest review, I received an advance copy from NetGalley.
I read this book in one day— it really is that good. The copy that I received was sent to my Kindle, which is good because I wanted/didn’t want to skip to the end. Four college friends go on vacation with their families to France. What could possibly go wrong? Kate thinks her husband is having an affair with one of her friends after finding suspicious texts. The kids are all a handful in their own way. Suspenseful and not cheesy. This book should be made into a movie!!!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me the honor of reading The Vacation.

Katie and her husband go to a houseparty in France for a week with three of her friends and their families. Before they leave, Katie happens to see a series of text messages between her husband and a woman alluding to a secret and what they'll do in France.
One by one, Katie tells a friend she suspects her husband of having an affair with one of the other women. Almost everyone at the houseparty has a secret. Even the teenagers. The novel moves slowly for the first two-thirds without revealing any of the secrets. But I kept on reading because I know the author T.M. Logan does not disappoint.
Finally, once the secrets are told, the story moves at a fast pace. When I finished, I felt it was a well-worth read. T.M. Logan is still one of my favorite authors.

4 women, best friends since college, decide on a luxurious vacation in France together along with their spouses (3 of them) and children.
One sees texts on her giant's phone that make her think not only is he having an affair, but with one of her three friends. Each of the women seems equally possible and he's denying everything. Various events during the week make one more likely than another at times. Stress regarding the children, expect the teens, makes it even harder to get to the truth.
Good story to distract you from real life right now. No spoilers, but it did have some twists towards the end that were not predicted and a bit far out, but a quick read.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion

I just can’t get into this one. Calling it quits at 27 percent.. might try again when it is out as a physical book.

Thank you so much for this ARC!

Totally binge worthy, I flew through this book and was on the edge of my seat the whole ride!

I loved Kate, could have been a bit more assertive at times, but hey, that made her more human. What a terrible bunch of husbands, Russ and Alistair, UGH.

Reading from multiple point of views was great for this story, and it was just the appropriate amount.

I don't think that I breathed once during the "One month later" chapter, LOVE THAT!

I'm not sure this belongs in the "domestic thriller" category. It's definitely a vacation gone wrong, but dealing more with the interpersonal relationships of 4 university friends celebrating turning 40. Lots of simmering resentment is revealed, but it's not a thriller.

It's a great book to keep you entertained on a flight, and it is a page turner, just found the author somewhat repetitive in her narration and the big reveal wasn't terribly believable. Entertaining enough

The Vacation was a good family drama and a great way to break up the more intense thrillers. Thank you so much to Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press, and T. M. Logan for the chance to read this book. The book is about four women and their families who go away on a vacation together to a mansion in France. They want the weekend to be about reconnecting and enjoying themselves, but on the first night, one of the women discovers that another one is having an affair with her husband, only she isn’t sure which one.

The book follows Kate as she tries to discover what is really going on. Secrets emerge about the other families and everyone has a reason to want Kate to suffer. As things begin to unfurl, you realize there is a lot at stake; a secret anyone might kill for.

I really liked the imagery and scenery in this book. The idea of the four families going on vacation together is something I could relate with, as our family has done something similar. It was easy to picture the French countryside and the unique personalities in the house. I liked that there was just enough drama to keep you interested and wanting to know more. What I didn’t like was that this was not a thriller, but more of a family drama. I also didn’t like how far fetched the ending was and how unbelievable some of the character’s actions were. In the end, it was a quick and enjoyable read, 3.5 stars!

"Seven days, three families, one killer", scene is set.
At the beginning, the story is quite common: four best friends from college decide to go on holiday to France together with their families. Soon after, you'll find yourself in an awkward atmosphere mixing friendship tensions and disillusions, family issues, teenage troubles... and heavy doubts that will keep you awake, throughout the story until you discover the whole truth.
The main character takes us through a whirlwind of events that will gradually bring us closer to the final twist.
I have to say that sometimes I forgot I was reading a thriller, because of the author subtle way to let the suspense set in. I almost forgot the last part of the catchphrase "one killer"... but the author didn't ;)
I definitely recommend this story! I would rather recommend it for women.
