Now being totally honest - I have read a few of Ms Enoch’s books and have always enjoyed them but I wanted this ARC ‘cause it had Scottish themes. I am a sucker for those. This one did not disappoint - even though it entirely takes place in London.

Aden is wildly out of place in the strict and staid world of 19th Century London and has no idea of his place in society. And it shows through all of his interactions. He doesn’t need anyone to feel comfortable with him, he is quite content in his own skin. Except - he really, kinda, might want Miss Miranda to want him and for more than a partner and someone to help her out of trouble. Miranda is witty, vivacious and bright and I absolutely loved her. She never was illogical and actually made a plan and realized that she might not be able to solve this on her own. YAY! And instead of making this more complicated she actually went for help.

I really thought this would read as an enemies to lovers and it didn’t - it was more reluctant partners with too much chemistry. It was a nice twist on a trope that I don’t otherwise enjoy. I haven’t read the first in this series (don’t worry it went on my TBR) and I think it might have added some depth but wasn’t necessary to read. Aden and Miranda’s banter was fast and enjoyable and their bedroom antics were hot (yet not graphic). My only issue was Miranda’s brother who might be harmless - but was also irritating and spineless and I felt he never had to deal with the consequences of his own actions. Overall fun read - 3.5/5 stars.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this are completely my own.

Miranda Harris is known for her charm, beauty, and is known for her ability to solve even the most difficult with ease. Then her brother Matthew amasses a huge debt to a crafty villain, Captain Vale agrees to waive the debt if he marries Miranda. She will enlist the help of her almost brother in law Aden MacTaggert to save the family honour and herself. Aden & his two brothers have been summoned to London by their estranged mother & given the ultimatum that they each have to find & marry an English lady before their sister marries. Aden knows next to nothing about Britain’s aristocrats, but he knows his way around gamblers and women and Miranda’s dilemma offers him a chance: She will help him navigate London society and he’ll teach her everything about wagering and winning back her freedom.
This is the second in the series & could easily be read on its own, I love the MacTaggert brothers from boot throwing in Mayfair to dressing Rory, they are refreshingly different, Aden is the intelligent, quiet brother who holds his cards close to his chest. Miranda isn’t the normal insipid debutante but very intelligent, proper & charming. Sparks fly each time Aden & Miranda meet, they both make assumptions about each other, which they both soon realise are totally wrong. I loved how their relationship shifted from dislike & insults to attraction, working together to falling in love. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, which was well written & flowed really well. The characters had depth & on the whole were likeable, the villain was believable but I would have liked for him to have suffered more! I look forward to Coll's story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I had read the first book in this series early last year and really enjoyed it. It took me a minute to pick back up with who the characters were and what not but I was excited to get back into the series! And while I always enjoy Enoch’s writing and characters’ relationship development, the plot line on this one didn’t hit me right. I was really upset with Matthew’s actions and I didn’t really feel like he got punished at all. I mean I’m sure he was upset, maybe even distraught, but his role in the story was pretty damn awful and Eloise didn’t even pretend to be mad at him for like 5 minutes. So anyways, that piece of the plot made me pretty angry, but other than that I liked the book. I especially liked the ending, I thought it was very forward-thinking and very romantic. Great cast of characters and some entertaining banter between the hero and heroine. I would still recommend it! And I can’t wait for Coll’s novel, which I hope is next!

A white knight to the rescue.
Highlander Aiden is, against his will, looking for an English wife in London. He’d like a wife with a bit of spunk but unfortunately the only woman that seems interesting has taken an instant dislike to him because he likes to wager. Until that is she is forced to turn to him for insight into a gambler’s mind and on getting to know him, decides that he is not at all what she thought him! I enjoyed this book and the interaction between the characters, though I did think the bedroom antics were unnecessary and uncharacteristic of the sensible Miranda.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a sweet and sexy story! It was my first book by this author, and I truly enjoyed it!

Miranda Harris is well known for being a beautiful, and dutiful, member of the upper echelons of London. She's always proper, never makes a scene, and is appropriately demure. She's never had much reason to be otherwise. But, when an acquaintance of her older brother Matthew, wins one too many wagers against him, it ends up being HER freedom on the chopping block. Matthew owes an impossible to pay 50,000 pounds to Captain Robert Vale. In exchange for forgiving the debt, the Captain has said he wants to marry Miranda. But, he's truly a dastardly sort, and has no interest in the fact that Miranda doesn't want to marry him. He expects to use her connections and social standing to better his own lot, regardless of her thoughts on the matter. Miranda doesn't know where to turn, until her brother's fiancee's family comes into town, and she sees a possibility for help.

Aden MacTaggart is a Scottish Highlander, and he and his 2 brothers have been summoned to London by their long-absent mother to find and marry English brides. His younger brother Niall was lucky enough to find love right away, and is now married. But Aden, and his older brother Coll, have no interest in any brides, much less Sassenach ones. He feels out of place in England, and wants to go home. He's a great gambler, but it's mostly just a hobby. When he meets his younger sister Eloise's future sister-in-law, Miranda, he's enamored of her, more than he should be. Especially when she makes it immediately clear how she feels about gamblers. But, when she finds out how much trouble her brother has gotten them into, she's got no one she can trust to help her, save Aden. He agrees to help, and falls in love along the way.

Aden and Miranda had a fiery connection from the start, and I loved their push and pull. It was a bit of enemies to friends to lovers here, and it was so much fun! They really came to understand and care for each other, so much more than either of them expected, and it was glorious. I really enjoyed them being a united front, fighting against an outside enemy. There were some complications between them, regarding trust, but mostly they were solid, and were dealing with outside sources of tension, which I enjoyed.

You could really feel the bond between Aden and his brothers too, and I enjoyed their interactions. Also, Aden's strained relationship with his mother was fascinating. She left the boys with their father in Scotland, and returned to London with baby Eloise when she was about 1 year old. They haven't seen either woman since, for about 17 years. And now they're basically here under duress, so they aren't feeling very loving toward their mother at all. I definitely feel like I would've benefited more from reading book 1 first. I assume in that story we got their initial summons, and reunion, and all the feelings that went with that. I'm definitely interested in going back to read that story to get a better feel for the origin of their tenuous connections.

This story was very satisfying, and I loved how ultimately Aden just aided Miranda in saving herself, rather than just swooping in and doing everything for her. It made me, and Miranda, love him even more. She really stood up for what she wanted, and didn't want, for her life, and I admired her a lot. I definitely recommend this story, and I can't wait for Coll's story next! And now Niall's story in book 1 is on top of my TBR pile too!

This was a very entertaining book with a to-die-for hero, a savvy and resourceful heroine, the heroine's stupid brother and a dastardly villain. The plot has probably been done before but I've never seen it done this well. Aden and Miranda are meant for each other. Along with the terrible problem of Miranda being a pawn in the gambling debt of her brother, the book manages witty banter and humorous scenes. This is a standalone book in the series although the first book, ITS GETTING SCOT IN HERE, is just as entertaining.

Oy. Their poor mother.

Aw, Aden's nice!

I feel bad for Smythe. Boy, Aden can tell a whopper on the spot.

Captain Vale seems fishy, and a bit violent.

Holy crap, Matthew.

Not a falcon, but a wolf.

That's a good trick.

Really, Mrs. Hardy.

Psycho.

Ooh, Coll and Jane, maybe?

You learned the lesson too late, Matthew.

Poor Coll's a sideshow.

Next to her parents?

He is so similar to his mother.

Captain Crazy-Pants needs a one-way ticket to Bedlam.

A very good man, Peter.

Why didn't they go to the police?

This was a great read. The author did a great job with the characters and storyline and will have you reading way past bedtime. Miranda Harris is to be the future sister in law of the MacTaggert brothers brothers and sisters of Matthew Harris who is to marry Eloise the little sister of the three brother. In order to keep their mother funding Aldriss Park whom they have not seen on 17 years since she returned to England they must marry English Brides before their sister marries. With little brother now married that leave Coll and Aden remaining and neither of them wish to marry, that is until Aden meets Miranda who can not stand wagers aka gamblers. They both butt heads and can't seem to tolerate each other that is until Miranda finds out her brother owes a gambling debt to the worst kind of gambler and is informed she is to be handed over in marriage to This file person. For help she turns to to and confides in the only person she feels can help her get out of this mess. As they work together to free her sparks fly of a different kind and Aden may have just found his English bride.

I recommend reading the first book in this series but not necessary. I absolutely enjoyed this book from the first page and is a highly entertaining read. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

This book was a total delight to read with the good character and storyline development that kept me totally captivated until the very end!

'Scot Under the Covers' was a gripping story filled with tension, humor and wonderfully drawn characters. The villain was particularly heinous and a great balance to the hero who is learning about himself. There were gems in the book with Coll saying he wanted to be around when Aden discovers he is not as bad as he thinks he is and when Aden's mother tells Miranda to buy Aden a saddle. These insights into the depths of family loyalty make for a great read. My need to skip over the graphic sexual descriptions was the only thing that keep this from perfection. I look forward to the Coll story and learning who his 'English' lady will be. I have my suspicions.

Miranda Harris hates gamblers. She has her reasons. When she meets the dangerously handsome highlander Aden MacTaggert she is predisposed to hate him due to his being a gambler. When Miranda's brother gets her in a bind, Aden is the only man she can turn to.

Aden wants nothing to do with the English aristocracy, but he cannot deny his attraction to fiery Miranda. At first he wants to say no to helping her, but soon gives in when he realizes her desperation. There's no way he's going to allow some other man to blackmail her into marrying, because Aden wants Miranda for himself.

Author Suzanne Enoch's SCOT UNDER THE COVERS tops the list of best historical romances of 2020 for me. The plot is engrossing, the characters are fun and relatable, the attention to detail is phenomenal. All of these are key elements in a well-written read. The balance of suspense and heat is just right. SCOT UNDER THE COVERS is a truly engrossing read.

Bumpity, bump, bump! That describes the road to a Happily Ever After for Miranda Harris and Aden MacTaggert in Suzanne Enoch's latest, Scot Under the Covers. This is the second book in her Wild Wicked Highlanders series. This story features the middle MacTaggert son who has been forced out of the Highlands of Scotland along with his two brothers to London. His father signed an agreement that his sons would take English brides in exchange for his wife's continued finacial support of his Highland estate Aldriss Park. Aden's mother left Scotland many years ago since she no longer got along with her husband and prefered the civilization in London. What starts out as doing a favor for Miranda Harris turns out to be that bumpity road to their HEA. This is a fun story. I loved it!

While this is the second book in the series, they can be read as stand alones. Three Scottish brothers much each find an English bride before their younger sister gets married. Middle brother Aden meets his match in fiesta Miranda. Because of her brothers gambling, she has been promised in marriage by a shady, lying, overall bad man! Lucky for her Aden steps in to save the day because he wants her for himself. I won't give any more away but this was a highly enjoyable romance that all fell in to place with romance, steam, laughter, and plotting along the way! can't wait for Coll's romance.

A fast-paced, exciting, suspenseful story that keeps you turning pages. Aden and Miranda keep the story interesting with all their banter and mixed signals.

Miranda Harris is known for her charm, wit, and problem solving abilities. She enjoys her place in society and is good at playing by the rules. She's seen what happens when people don't.... when a gentleman gambles away more than they can spare. Having her uncle leave for America to remake his fortune after loosing everything at the tables.... well, she has reason to dislike gamblers. When her brother gambles away her hand in marriage, she has had enough. There's only one way she can get out of this... she'll have to learn to think like a gambler. She knows just the brain to pick...
Aden MacTaggert doesn't want to be in London- he certainly doesn't want to be looking for some English bride! His mother, the woman that left them in the Highlands seventeen years ago, has decreed that the three MacTaggert brothers must marry before their sister- their newly engaged sister- or she'll cut off the funds that run their clan. Furious as he is, he can't risk that. For the man that's used to planning and plotting his moves in silence, this world is very different and he doesn't know if he'll ever find the lass for him.... until one spits fire at him one day and requests his help the next. He doesn't know what to think of Miranda, but he likes her. She's brave, bold, smart and loyal.... and in way over her head. Together, can they free her from a forced engagement? And can he convince her that he's more than just a gambler- that he's someone she can trust with her heart?
I loved this book! The plot seemed fresh and very interesting, and the writing style had a great flow. This was fast paced and really fun, while still layering some heavy subjects and emotions. I have to admit I am picky about romances- especially historic romances. It feels like every plot or story has been done at least a hundred times, and the only way to keep each one fresh and different is great character development, interesting interactions, and twists in the story. These characters exploded off the pages! I couldn't put the book down- I had to see what they'd to next!
Enoch has a way of creating a world you can't bare to leave. I want more! I am looking for Nial's story, and eagerly awaiting Coll's. These Highlanders are Fierce, strong, loyal... and really hot! I give this book a four.
On the adult content scale, there's some language and violence and a whole lot of sexual content (hey, it's a bodice ripper). Obviously I feel like this is geared toward a much more mature audience. Let's give it an eight.
I was lucky enough to receive an eARC of this book from Netgalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review. My thanks!

SCOT UNDER THE COVERS is book two in the series, but you don't need to have read the first one to jump in.

Miranda Harris is a young lady of the ton, in her fifth season, but in no hurry to marry. Her brother, however, has landed himself in unrepayable debt and has bartered Miranda's hand in marriage as repayment. If she refuses, her entire family will be ruined. Aden is a Scottish gambler, in London with his brothers to find English brides, and Miranda's brother is engaged to his little sister. Miranda seeks Aden's insight into the gambler's mind and things... escalate.

I consider myself a pretty savvy reader, but I had no clue how Miranda was going to extricate herself from the clutches of the villain. Even given the apparently hopeless situation, I appreciated how Miranda kept working and maneuvering, searching for a way out. And I appreciated how Aden, even as it was apparent their feelings were mutual, was very concerned about Miranda feeling a sense of obligation for his assistance.

Plotwise, my only concern is that the villain would not be dispatched so easily. He's clearly a sociopath, unconcerned about others, and I feel strongly that he wouldn't just go away, but will be plotting revenge to be served cold.

A very enjoyable book.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for review.

Aden MacTaggert is the second MacTaggert brother to find love in Wild Wicked Highlanders series. He is in London to find a bride under the orders of his mom. Although he is reluctant about it and doesn't think he will succeed in finding the sassenach of his dreams, circumstances say otherwise. He ends up falling in love with Miranda Harris who is engaged to Aden’s sister. Miranda is in a terrible situation due to her brother Matthew’s gambling away a huge amount of money he doesn’t have to a villain. The villain asks for Miranda’s hand in marriage if Matthew cannot pay what he owes him in money. Aden comes in for the rescue and we have a HEA ending.

I liked Aden and Miranda’s back and forth sarcastic and flirtatious bantering with each other when they first meet. The two of them were likable characters. The plot was interesting, but at times I was getting a bit bored and I wished there was more of a focus on the developing romance between Aden and Miranda. I wanted to see more romance and a bit less focus on the villain. Also, Matthew, the brother who thought he can gamble his sister’s whole life away doesn’t have any consequences about it. He is such a spoiled brat.

I will be reading the first book in the series and I look forward to the next one.

Could not put this book down! I loved the story of Miranda & Aden. From the moment they met, with her looking at him with disdain, I was hooked. The drama with Vane & her brother's gambling debt is spectacular. I highly recommend reading this story, & I can't wait for Coll's story. The lass that snags him is going to have to be special indeed!

I adored the whole story. I loved both main characters from the very beginning.

Miranda Harris was sassy, very intelligent and by sociaty recognized which brought her life in a dangerous situation of debt. Although not on her behalf, she needed to become free again.

Aden McTaggert was somewhat rough highlander with heart in the right place and brilliant mind.

When those two became partners to ploy against Captain Vale and to free Miranda of her situation, they completed one another like match made in heaven.

I loved every second of this entertaining book.

I received an advanced readers copy of Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch.

I really liked how Aden and Miranda interacted with each other. When Miranda finds herself being blackmailed into marrying someone due to her brother’s gambling debts, she seeks Aden’s help. He agrees to work with her to help free her of the blackmailer. I thought the two were well suited to each other and had good chemistry.

Aden and his brothers share a strong bond and are supportive of one another.
They show this loyalty to those they consider part of their clan as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and read late into the night to learn how the villain would get defeated.
