You give me a book about a retired military army ranger who finds love with a girly-girl and what's not to love?! This was one of those books you curl up with and get lost in. I really enjoyed how March kept things 'real'; Tucker didn't sugar coat why he got out of the military and how that made him feel as well as Gillian's emotional turmoil over the issues with Jeremy. There were times Gillian felt annoying as it seemed she was going back and forth on her emotions fast enough for whiplash and seemed ditzy. Thankfully those moments were limited and didn't take away from the overall story. This is the second book in the series but you can absolutely read it as a stand alone without feeling as though you're missing anything. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I would read more in this series or by Emily March in general.
While a bit slow and drawn out in the beginning, I enjoyed this story once the courtship of Gillian and Tucker began. I liked all the characters (although I did get a little overwhelmed with all the names) as they seemed real and not over the top – even Tucker was quite humble despite being very wealthy. No billionaire romance here. In fact, to me, this read like a Hallmark movie. Entertaining, heartwarming with no erotica since all sexy scenes “faded to black”. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
I received an advanced copy by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Gillian is part owner of a bridal company whose life isn't what she thought it would be. Tucker is an ex-soldier who is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life now that he is out of the military. He meets Gillian and sparks fly, however Gillian is struggling with figuring out who she is and doesn't want to add a new guy into the mix. This was a cute story, but at times it felt slow. I really liked Tucker, he grew as a character and went after what he wanted., Gillian was so wishy washy at times that I felt annoyed with her. Her self doubt annoyed me after the 3rd or 4th time and I didn't feel that she grew as a character. Sometimes I felt the focus was too much on weddings and not the partnership of two people. The side characters were written well and while this is the second book as the series it can be read as a standalone.
I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
This is the second book in the McBrides of Texas series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Tucker McBride has just left his military career and is going back to his family home in Redemption Texas. On his drive home, he sees a woman walking in the middle of nowhere. Gillian Thacker has just had a fight with her fiancé where she threw her engagement ring at him, she leaves and wreaks her car. Of course, Tucker saves her and is smitten. But Gillian gets back together with the fiancé, James the jerk, so she is off limits. Eventually James shows his true colors and calls off the engagement days before the wedding. Now Tucker implements his plan to win her heart. This is an overall enjoyable read. I really liked Tucker, he is smart, handsome and honorable. Gillian was a little harder to like, she was weepy and whiny and that kept this from being a five star read for me.
Emily March writes a great small-town romance, great heroes and brings back favorite characters just so long-time fans can visit. I really enjoyed Tucker's story. I appreciate that it can stand alone, too.
Tucker McBride has turned his weary back away from his military career after a stint in the Washington DC area. Recently arrived, back in Texas, he is attempting to determine his destination when a chance meeting with a beautiful lady, who has broken down, on a desolate country road sets his course. The path to true happiness is often fraught with stumbling blocks and obstacles. Tucker has his fair share of both as he goes forth with his heart, mind and eye on his objective. Can he overcome these challenges and achieve his set goals? An entertaining read for the modern romance readers among us.
I have rated this book 4 stars.
I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.
A beautiful heartwarming boy meets girl, from two opposite circles who should not be attracted to each other. Yet they are now falling in love so hard. Will love survive and overcome the obstacles that are thrown before them.
Emily March and the Eternity Springs series has become a true favorite. March has created a series that delves into human needs while maintaining the classic elements expected with romance novels. The McBrides of Texas may be one of her best yet.
When Tucker meets Glory he is instantly attracted, but she is engaged to another so he goes on with adapting to civilian life. As Glory’s life falls apart, Tucker is there for her and the attraction is instantaneous! I love these characters and revisiting characters like Celeste and Angelica. You will not want to miss this book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
This was a different slow burn, and the second book in the series which can be read as a stand alone. In some ways, it was predictable, and in other ways it wasn't. Tucker is a resourceful guy and did many things right by Gillian. Gillian however, despite being a strong capable woman, showed throughout the whole story, that she really was a hot mess, on numerous occasions.
A fun small town read with a nice HEA.
Gillian and Tucker, two people with really disparate interests are fighting a mutual attraction. Well, Tucker isn't fighting it, he is doing his best to get under Gillian's skin and win her over. They met of when he picked her up after she crashed her car. She was attracted to him, but she had just broken up with her fiance who wasn't the winner she thought him to be. March has a way of bringing her characters to life, we really getsto know them, and then wham you are done with the book , anxiously awaiting the next.
"Tucker" (Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas Book 2) by Emily March is a fantastic read. I loved Tucker and Gillian's story. This is a wonderful addition to the series. This story is packed with romance, passion, humor, drama, entertaining characters, family, friends, and more. I can not wait to see what happens next with this wonderful cast of characters. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, entertaining characters, family, and series.
I loved this book. Tucker and Gillian's story was so good. As always Emily March has a way with spinning a story that makes you want to live in Eternity Springs. Tucker is retired military and Gillian owns a bridal shop with her mother. Tucker is immediately taken with Gillian however she is engaged to another.
Smart characters, blissful writing, an engaging story with a happy ending for all.
Eternity Springs: McBrides of Texas - Tucker
This was a sweet romance that takes place in a small town in Texas Hill country. I enjoyed catching up with other characters who are part of this world. Tucker is super sexy and kind. Gillian is recovering from heartbreak and Tucker is the perfect healer.
I read this as a standalone but I think to have a better reading experience you should read the backlist titles of this series. There is a bit of a love triangle that resolves itself. There is a Vegas trip with it's own surprises. Love the idea of using a wilderness survival school and all that entails. This was a cute romance. There is no steam, it is pretty much fade to black.
Well, I have to admit that I didn't enjoy this book so much, it was all too fast, all too much, all too foreseeable in a way, so not my cup of tea, pity.
Beh, devo ammettere che questo libro mi ha lasciato piuttosto indifferente: tutto troppo veloce, tutto troppo prevedibile, tutto troppo.....insomma non il mio preferito, peccato.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
The second book in the series, I really liked this installment. Gillian was the perfect amount of feisty of Tucker's serious personality. Along the way, Tucker and Gillian realize they have feelings for each other, except Gillian's douche of a fiance is in the way. I liked how some of the backstory from book 1 - Haley, Caroline, Jackson - were in this story, but they didn't dominate.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Emily March has created another cutesy locale for her family-and-friend-centered universe. She’s moved from the Colorado mountains to the Texas hill country. We have a trio of hunky cousins who seem to be independently wealthy as they settle in an area with a former ghost town and brothel to build a tourist attraction.
In this book, former Army Ranger Tucker is traveling across Texas to visit his cousin when he encounters Gillian walking in the middle of nowhere in heels and a sexy red dress. He stops his Harley and rescues her. It turns out that they’re headed to the same town and she’s good friends with his cousin’s wife. And she’s engaged to a selfish cad.
As Gillian struggles to figure out what she wants to do with her life, she can’t help being attracted to Tucker. Who wouldn’t be? But I found her a bit tiresome. There are three separate episodes in the book when she makes dumb choices and gets herself stranded in the wilderness and needs Tucker to rescue her. Come on, girl! Wise up!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
oh my, this was quite a book. I loved it. I loved Tucker, he was a great guy. I came to love Gillian, though she was kind of, how shall I put this, soft? She seemed like such a strong person, when in reality she couldn't read the writing on the wall. It took her a while because she had so much going on and found it hard to trust in herself. Would she ever be able to trust again? Tucker helps her learn. I highly recommend this book. Great new branch off from the Eternity Springs series!
This is a sweet, entertaining romance. Tucker and Gillian’s stories are great. I look forward to reading more of the books in this series.
