Hara Isari is trying to move past her family's criminal past and forge her own way in the sports world. When she wins a contest to interview one of the biggest names in basketball, Charles Butler, she knows this is the break she deserves. She travels from Portland, Oregon to Boston for the job. Her interview goes well, but trying to get back home is proving difficult with the weather in Boston. With the weather and the team owners trying to keep her down, another player, Derek Darcy, seems to always be in the right place at the right time to catch her. What will happen between these two?
What I thought was going to be a fun rom com had surprises around every corner.

I appreciate the opportunity to review this, but I still haven't read it after five years and likely will not. Thank you anyway!

It's me. I'm just not a huge fan of third person, I kept putting it down. There's so many she's, it was kinda driving me a wee bit wonky so I had to stop.

The Wrong Mr. Darcy is a page turning and captivating read. Really loved and enjoyed reading the story. I am definitely going to read more from the authors. I Liked their writing style.
Definitely Recommend it to all readers.

I really wanted to like this book. 😕 but it missed the mark for me.
I was expecting a little remake or twist on Pride and Prejudice- but what I got was unfortunately a flop.
She's a small town sports writer trying to make it big- but when the book uses the term "sportsballs' it's an immediate ick for me. The amount of unrealistic events made it very distracting. How is a small town newspaper affording a flight, fancy hotel, and new clothes?! In This Economy?!
One other big ick is the amount of girl hate- hoe is being tossed around way too much for 2020+.
I appreciate the opportunity to review this book, but in the end, it wasn't for me.

I was enticed by this book being a Pride and Prejudice retelling and I liked the cover art. I could see what the author was trying to do, but I fell the execution fell flat. Our main character was young and lacked the substance to make me believe her work was got her lucky breaks.

A romantic comedy and Pride and Prejudice combined into one? YES PLEASE. This is such a wonderful book.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

What an incredibly fun and innovative take on Pride and Prejudice. I didn't know what to expect but absolutely had a ball with this one.

The classic retelling of Pride and Prejudice with a twist. Definitely something that will draw a reader if you want a twist on the classic story.

Pride and Prejudice is a classic. This one sounded promising. However. it wasn't my favorite adaptation. The characters were diverse which was great. However it strayed too far from the adaptations original for my liking. I love a good back and forth opposites attract story. Not having sisters, confusing characters, it didn't hit the mark for me.

I love a good austentatious retelling, especially Pride and Prejudice, but this one didn't do it for me.

You can't just tack on "Pride and Prejudice retelling" (sorry "lightly inspired by") just because they're enemies-to-lovers. And even if there was no P&P in this, mainly just character names, it still was a choppy romance and didn't stand well on its own. It was not even close to a rom com. There is no comedy in this. It's almost a thriller but not quite. Big disappointment.

This book was pretty uneven for me. I enjoyed parts of it, and liked that it wasn't an exact retelling, but the "high stakes" of it all, esp towards the end, just seemed so over the top that it made it hard to take seriously.

Pride and prejudice retelling?! Title and cover art snagged me. The plot was okay and the characters were meh. I could see what the author was trying for but it fell short for me. Our main character was young and that came across but I didn’t get the feeling like she ever deserved her big role other than being a young striking girl in a man’s world. There just wasn’t enough substance to her to believe her work is what caught all the lucky breaks.

This was an enjoyable twist on the Pride and Prejudice framework with a sports journalist and an athlete. It's a light read.

Unfortunately, I did not finish this book. It just didn't keep me interested. I didn't really care for the characters, either. I was really hoping for an awesome rom com, but it just fell a little flat.
*Thank you @stmartinspress for the copy in exchange for an honest review. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF.*

sooooo this book was a disappointment. nothing like pride and prejudice or a retellings of it. felt so disappointed with this read

This was a cute book! It wasn't quite what I was expecting as an interpretation of Pride and Prejudice, but it was a decently quick read and pretty easy to follow. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

A welcome and diverse adaptation of an Austen classic. It is adaptive without being replicative. The plot is a bit cookie-cutter, but the third act was a surprise that lent a sense of realism and believability. The backstory is less so. The writing style is simple and reads more YA than adult, although the plot is decidedly not for young readers. This style choice lends an unfinished feel. Hara, is refreshing, if naive, which does not jive with her background and overall sense of self at the same time, Derek is aloofly conventional, with little surprises. The characters had the requisite detail, but the depth was not there. Their chemistry was on the tepid side, with a little too much-telling vice showing. The concepts of unconventional family dynamics held a lot of promise, but the narrative focused on the relationship, which was more mundane. Still, I would recommend it to fans of Austen adaptations.
