My Heart, Ever his are daily prayers written just for women to be tuned towards Gods heart. Prayers can be extremely difficult for anyone to do in front of the congregation or family members. These prayers are useful to pray for any other person, children, family members, those who are unwell or unable to pray and those who are suffering. Ideal book for those needing help with prayers.

For such a time as this! Rainey's prayers are vulnerable, honest, Biblical, and so pertinent to the uncertainty of our age. I plan to give this as gifts to the mother's in my life looking for a new approach to their prayer lives.
Do you ever struggle with knowing what to pray? This book offers many honest, thoughtful, heartfelt prayers in contemporary language. It can open up your heart to God as a woman of faith.
It is a beautiful book with a metallic-finish cover and artistic layout. The prayers are raw and real (see quotes below) about topics we all think about. Several prayers also include a short devotion. They are meant as a springboard for your own personal conversations with God.
These prayers are ideal for weary moms struggling with all their responsibilities, questioning their self-worth, and wondering if they’ll ever feel beautiful again. Barbara Rainey has obviously been there before, and shares her wisdom in these real, unvarnished prayers. This book is a great gift to give yourself, mama.
Quotes I’ve Enjoyed:
“My husband/so completely other than me./Not just opposite./Foreign.”
“My limbs leaden this morning./My head pounding./My thinking dull from interrupted sleep. Jesus did You ever feel this way?”
“Well, Lord, I, um,/want to talk to You about sex./Again.”
I received a preview copy of My Heart, Ever His from Bethany House Publishers.
I think this is a great book if you're looking for a prayer book for women, the topics discussed are extremely relateable and questions we often ask ourselves. However, I have to say that this book didn't work for me mainly because the prayer style is really different from my personal habit. The prayers here feel like poetry, like the ones in Psalms while I'm usually a more direct person. The topics and theme are great and perfectly suitable, it's just the stylistic difference that made it doesn't work for me.
A lovely book of poems by a trusted, faithful woman of God. This is a book women can turn to again and again for encouragement and hope. It's a book worth keeping yourself and one you'll want to purchase for those you love.
My Heart, Ever His by Barbara Rainey – Positively Lovely, A Keeper and Makes a Wonderful Gift to Give
As someone who loves poetry and likes to write writing out prayers, I wanted to read Barbara Rainey’s new book My Heart, Ever His. This book is positively lovely!
Barbara’s prayers are heartfelt, God-honoring and glorifying. They are honest, open and transparent. Kind of like the Psalms, Barbara honestly shares with the Lord what she is feeling, but she comes back to who God is, what He has done in her life and others and who He has revealed Himself to be in the Bible.
I love that Scripture is included in the prayers and in the E-book the Scripture verses are highlighted in a different color and at the end of each prayer is a link to the end of the book where each prayer’s Scripture verses are documented so you can look them up for yourself.
Many of the prayers seemed especially relevant and timely considering all that we are going through as a Nation. My heart was convicted, encouraged, strengthened. It is comforting to know other women share similar struggles but also know where our Hope truly lies. I felt like I was sitting across from a friend who was sharing from her heart about her life.
Even in the Christian community, there are times where we put on a good face and may not always share what we are struggling with. After reading these prayers, you may desire to be honest and open, but also challenged to not just present only your hurts to the Lord, but go back to God’s Word and be encouraged to remember who He is and what He has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ.
The prayers range from who we are as Christians, God as our Security, physical needs and health, emotional needs, relationships, faith, lives which have turned out different than what we hoped, God’s Word and prophesy, Jesus Christ our Savior, Redeemer, salvation, security, suffering, seasons, and surrender.
I love this book! My Heart, Ever His by Barbara Rainey is a keeper. It’s also one that I want to share with others. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading it again and again.
I would like to thank Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read My Heart, Ever His by Barbara Rainey which was provided to me for free. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
Thank you to Bethany House for the free review copy. All opinions are my own.
What a wonderful book of prayers. Rainey showed vulnerability in these prayers, and I found that made it easy to connect in some way or another to all of them. I liked how she tackled lots of subjects, including the hard topics. These prayers read quickly, and I found myself not wanting to stop reading them because of the honesty found in the prayers. I think this book is one that I will come back to time and time again when I am struggling with something in particular. There are prayers for so much in this book, so I hope others are able to find comfort and encouragement within these pages.
Beautical, lyrical prayers. I like that the author includes bits from the Bible in her prayers too.
The prayers are examples of how our conversations can be with God – intimate, honest, nothing held back.
Recommended for those who sometimes wonder how to pray and what to pray.
Thank you, Netgalley and Bethany House for the review copy. This is my honest review.
Whenever I want to cry out to the Lord, whether it is to praise Him, petition Him, express my pain and sorrow to Him, or to ponder His mighty works, I find myself in the book of Psalms. I turn to Psalms because when I don’t have the words to express my feelings, I often find there’s a Psalm that says exactly what I’m thinking.
In her book My Heart Ever His: Prayers For Women, Barbara Rainey provides us with our own personal pathway to prayer. In her book, she’s written 40 prayers that express what’s on the heart and mind of contemporary women that resonate with the psalms – prayers that are personal, heartfelt, direct, questioning – prayers that authentically express our needs and inadequacies while fully expressing the reverence and honor that is due to our God!
One thing that I like about this book is that I can relate to these prayers and I can connect with the devotional aspects of the book as well. Another thing I like is that the prayers are scriptural, relevant and poetic.
My Heart Ever His is a book that can help us to grow in our capacity to pray
He calls me to surrender every day. It's the essence of faith after all.
Do you long to unite your heart to God? For God to be your portion and strength? Barbara Rainey has walked with the Lord and is vulnerable with her short comings. In her daily prayers for women, she lays her weakness at the feet of Jesus and her heart cries out to the Lord. Be near to me. I long for prayers like this. To draw closer to God in his word and even though my circumstances do not change, I am strengthen by faith.
The book is beautifully laid out as it uses key words in a different font to bring a point home to your heart. It gives the reader a time of pause or the biblical word Selah. It is a time to slow down and worship God. Not with request so much but a change of heart. This is a great gift for the women in your life. You mother, daughters, and spiritual sisters. I highly recommend.
A Special Thank you to Bethany House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Profound prayers for your heart
Barbara Rainey, artist, author, and frequent guest on the FamilyLife Today radio program, presents her book "My Heart, Ever His. Prayers for Women", published by Bethany House Publishers. The book contains forty prayers that cover a wide range of topics such as "Daughters of the King", "Answers unseen", I'm Afraid", "Disappointed with God", "Aging", or "One Day"., sometimes accompanied by personal comments and reflections. In her introduction Rainey states: "These prayers of mine are not happy life-is-great prayers, though like the Psalms, some are praises for what God has taught me. I've realized I am more drawn to the throne of God when life is hard. When the sun is shining and the days are easy, I just move through life enjoying the ride. The wrongness of hard times presses me to Jesus because I know He understands better than anyone else." This is not a book to be "read from cover to cover". It is a "use-it-when-you-need-it" book.
The book is presented with a great and attractive design and contains also notes and the Bible references that go with specific prayers. I appreciated Rainey's honesty and vulnerability. I highly recommend the book for oneself and as a present for others who might not have the words anymore to pray for themselves.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

My words could never accurately describe how grateful I am to have been given the chance to read this title. I will be keeping this book handy, as every morning during my quiet time with God in prayer and devotion, I am randomly guided to a devotional to read for the day out of many sources. This book will certainly be in the choices from now on.
The book of prayers is one I'll read again and again. I journaled, wrote my own prayers and prayed these words out loud as I made my way through the beautifully written heart cries contained in this book. Definitely one that I'll recommend to anyone going through a difficult season.
My Heart, Ever His: Prayers for Women by Barbara Rainey
2 stars
I love Barbara Rainey's heart behind this. She wrote this book of her own prayers to share with women, but this personally didn't feel like prayers I could pray. These prayers were far too personal and too much for herself than for others to declare or weep over. I loved Rainey's heart, but for me, personally, this book just didn't work. I think if you open it and know it's for you, then this is a book for you, but I couldn't connect to the prayers. There were a couple of sweet moments, but the book reads very much like poetry (inspired by Psalms) and it has a great concept. I think that this one is worth checking out if you are looking for a book about prayer that is not specifically geared towards a topic.
Cover Thoughts: I love this cover. It's gorgeous.
Thank you, Netgalley & Bethany House Publishers, for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book from Netgalley for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is a collection of very personal prayers. Christian living isn't easy, or tidy. Author is transparent and poignant in her prayer life, asking the Lord she loves for specific help over specific needs, both provisionally and privately. Diary style entries add to the personal nature of this book. I enjoyed the reading of these prayers.
Grab a highlighter, post-it notes, make it yours. But one for a friend or three.
My heart, ever his by Barbara Rainey has truly blessed me and help me to grow in my own prayer life. This book is very relatable and can be used in everyday life!
A beautifully written collection of prayers for women. I received an a ARC from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
Pure delight for any woman’s soul! The moment I picked up this book, I knew it was going to be different. The prayers are written by a woman, for other women. It felt like Barbara was sitting on my couch, praying with me. The topics are part of everyday life and do not feel like platitudes. The prayers are genuine and heartfelt, and I was deeply encouraged. I recommend this for all women, whether seasoned in the faith or brand new in their walk. I could see this being a lovely companion to any Bible study or meeting group.
I received a complimentary copy of this from the publisher. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
This collection of prayers will be totally relatable to many women. Who has not felt guilt, fatigue, been overwhelmed, or struggled with human relationships? Barbara Rainey pours it all out to God and offers encouragement and sound advice to women.
This prayer book is packed with gems for the modern Christian woman. It focuses on prayers that open our hearts and minds and channels the specific relationship that faith-filled women have with God. Beautifully written, this book is a treat for any woman trying to build her life around Christ and grow her prayer practice.
