This book is a good fit for readers who enjoy romance novels with a focus on uncovering secrets and overcoming past traumas in a fast-paced, adventurous setting.
This was a waste of time. It was not enjoyable. It was very problematic and I do not recommend. There are other books that feature the same type of concept that are executed much better.
This book was a steamy, wild ride. From the first page, I was hooked and could not finish this book fast enough.
Blaise is completely destroyed after the sudden death of her brother, Blake, and then in walks a dark, dominant stranger that sets her world on fire and throws her into a world of mystery and intrigue. Just like this book kept Blaise guessing about who she could trust, I was questioning that right along with her (though I did guess one key detail). Watching Blaise refind her strength and her HOT, and I mean HOT!!!!, romance blossom had me devouring this book in less than 24 hours. There were times when I was holding my breath, wanted to scream, cry, and laugh out loud.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in new adult with a twist.
The City of Sin holds more than secrets. He doesn’t remember me. But, I remember him. The mysterious and brooding Jay McCall. His touch. His kiss. His hands on me. It’s burned into my mind. The one incredible night we shared.
But, that was before...Before I lost my brother. Before grief held me hostage. He’s back, and it has nothing and everything to do with me. The secrets he’s keeping are tangled with my brother’s death. My heart. My body. At war over a man I barely know. A man who knows the truth.
This was a pretty good romantic thriller. I really liked Blaise as she unravels the mystery. Totally satisfied with the HEA. I highly recommend.

I gave this a four out five stars. I really enjoyed this, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I haven't stayed up late to finish a book in a long while until now. I started it last night and stayed up all night to finish it. I've been having trouble with reading keeping my attention and to continuously read. With this book though I didn't have that problem at all. Some of the conflicts in this book could have been worked out by communicating. I liked how the main character wanted to do things herself and not have everyone else do things for her. This book made me feel a lot of things.
This very much had the Fast and the Furious vibes to me! I think the author did a great job of capturing the tension and whisking the reader away. I got lost in the book honestly. This is one of my favorites for this years reading list. If you like action and heady romance I would suggest this for you! I would rate this a five out of five! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #NetGalley
I am not a fan with the stories starting off with one night stand sex scenes. The story seems to revolve around the endless hot and heavy sex scenes. While the story take a back seat. When the story does comes out I found it interesting. The female lead is constantly pushing people away and that story is extremely repetitive to the point of eye rolling. The first half of the story is very slow going and sex related. While some will love the hot and heavy romance side of the story but those looking for a balance will need to find a different author.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of A.M Brooks Where Demons Hide.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend to everyone.
I raced through this book and whilst it isn’t exactly literature at its finest it provides romance and drama and a whodunnit!
I was captivated with the rollercoaster the main character was on and found it to be a good enjoyable read.
A thriller romance for sure
I received a copy of this book ifrom Netgalley n exchange for my honest review.
This was my first book by this author.
I felt the story began slowly but ramped up tension, mystery and sexual chemistry quickly.
The narrative, bounces around with the character's confusion, desperation, mistrust of information and clues and attraction to the male protagonist.
Complementary copy given for honest review
Some strange back and forth action in the book. It was slow at spots but I enjoyed the total book.
A bit slow to start, but once it got going I didn’t want to put this down. A fun, quick read, nothing hugely original but very entertaining. Loved the characterisation and chemistry, wish there was more backstory, but you could deal with that in future books. A great read with real emotion
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

This was my first book by this author.
Let me start by saying, A.M. Brooks has talent. This book was AMAZING. I loved everything about it from the characters, the writing style, the storyline... i couldn[t put it down, and I can't wait to read more by the author!!!
I got this as an ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this book was a bit confusing, and the first 20% were very slow and nothing really happened. It was a bit covering Blaise's emotions but I think that part could have been much shorter and made the book more enjoyable.
I think the romance could have been stronger and they should have had more chemistry.
I recieved a free digital copy of this book through Netgalley. All opinions are my own an dare given voluntarily.
So I honestly don't know what to sya about this book... It isn't at all what I was expecting and though it had some good twists and great characters, I was thoroughly confused through the entire book because the title doesn't really fit the book... At one point they use the exact term but it still doesn't make much sense to me.
I wish there was more backstory and more blake I think he would have been an awesome character.
I didn't like Jay he's a liar, Stone, Antonio and Joey all act weird and some of that is explained later in but not completely... Which is also confusing. The epilogue is also confusing especially that little bit at the end with Trent...
It was a whole load of story with twists and lies and a lot of confusion... I know some of that was intentional since we are learning what happened at the same time that Blaise is... But still too much confusion for me... I like a nice clear cut ending which this wasn't even with the epilogue.
This is the reason I've rated it 3 stars, the twists and turns and lies kept me gripped and interested and binge reading and yet the complete lack of character development and ending confusion and having no real answers stopped it from being 4 Stars.
This was such a fun and quick read! It didn't knock my socks off or anything, but it was very cute and the cartel/crime part made it very interesting.
Writing style: I really liked the style. I can't quite explain what it was, I can just say I liked it. Just enough details to form a proper picture in my head. The tasteful writing kept me reading.
Characters: They were a little flat, but that often seems to be the case in short romance novels. I did get very annoyed by Jay's caveman attitude and the fact that Blaise still had sex with him when he was in one of those demanding moods.
Story: The romance could have been stronger, but I was alright with how it was. The crime part could have been more intense, it wasn't as terrifying as it should be. The story had a lot of potential, but it didn't quite live up to that potential. Still fun enough.
Ending: The ending kinda sucked. The book builds up to a big ending where everything comes together, but it wasn't as shocking as I hoped it would be. It could have been way more intense and fleshed out.
The book was decent enough, but it could have been better. All in all I enjoyed myself and this book gets three stars from me.
Where demons hide by A.M. Brooks.
A good read with likeable characters. Likeable story bit slow but readable. 4*.

I requested this book because it's set in my hometown, but I can't continue reading it. There are insane jumps between past and present tense that make it difficult to follow. At first I thought it was just a stylistic thing, but it happens from sentence to sentence for no apparent reason. Throw in a bit of woman-on-woman hate, and I'm out.
My first taste of A.M. Brooks's writing and for me, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The opening of Where Demons Hide drew me in but shortly after, I found myself struggling to stay invested in Blaise's story.
I liked Blaise. She was a little sad, a little lost and little broken but not one to go down without a fight. And when Jay storms into her life, it was once again turned on its head. Oh Jay. He had the best of intentions where Blaise was concerned but his execution wasn't the best. Mainly because there was so much he couldn't and wouldn't say.
With more questions than answers popping up at every turn, Blaise doesn't know who to trust. Torn between the boys of her past, her childhood and the man who has stormed in and set her blood on fire.
It was a whirlwind of lies, lust, betrayal and love. There was so much happening in Where Demons Hide, especially towards the end that my head was spinning. The final showdown where all was revealed had my heart racing. I didn't expect it to be that twisted but I was glad that Blaise and Jay both got some closure and happiness.
A 4 star romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat with intrigue all through the reading of this story.
I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything for the readers. Let’s say it’s a scorching hot romantic suspense that had twist and turns. I didn’t know who to trust. Beautifully twisted. The plot got thicker and thicker as I read on.
Standalone told in a single POV with an amazing HEA. I recommend this story.
