Very twisty...took me a bit to get into but it was wild from there. Very good. I didn’t want this one to end!

I enjoyed this a lot. Alice was a great character and I wanted the best for her. Her husband on the other hand.... The twists were good and the plot was interesting.

Alice meets the handsome Dominic after a chance meeting in an office building she is leaving and is swept up in the romance after being jilted a week after her planned wedding. Valentine’s Day, four years after they married she wants to share some good news but he doesn’t come home. Following Alice’s story to Valentine’s Day not everything is as perfect as Alice thinks.
Wow this book was one of them sucking books that grabs you from the first page and makes you ignore everything else. Bloody fantastic.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

What a twisted story that kept me reading and wanting answers!

I don’t want to give too much away but I will share a few thoughts:
1) Alice, dear sweet Alice, you are a fool. You gave Dominic far too much forgiveness and space.
2) Dominic, bravo on being such a skilled actor. Who knew your time as Atticus Finch would pay off?
3) Always trust those closest to you when they see the red flags... because love and desire often blind us to the true colors of a person. Even our husband!

For those of you looking for a psychological thriller, give this book a read. Solid amount of crazy that keeps you reading far into the night!

Well, I thought this would be right up my alley. From the blurb, I was expecting this to be a thriller. It was not a thriller at all; maybe a mystery. Unfortunately, the book couldn’t hold my interest. It felt like the whole book was set on simmer and it never boiled over. I kept waiting for some tension, and could not find it. The main character, Alice, was super naïve and fell in love with a liar. She really missed some huge red flags about Dom. The book has multiple points of view, as well as a Then and Now. You can easily figure out what the ending of this story will be from early in the book. I kept hoping for some major twist, and it never came. I’m definitely in the minority, but this didn’t work for me at all.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

Honestly I was totally thrown reading this book in a kismet way. The main character Dominic Gill is my son’s actual name. Isn’t that neat and so uncommon. Only his name uses Gil with one L. He wasn’t as phased as I was but I’ve tried for years to get my name as a secondary character when he gets to be the main character!

So to the book..... what a mind feck! I’m already thrown by the main characters name but the actual happenstances are insane. When the book blurb throws out gripping thriller, they weren’t lying.

What did I like? The chills... I mean how well do you know the person you marry, I mean really know. With online dating being what it is, this book just freaks me out. This book just read like a train wreck....eyes glued to the pages. It’s a thriller for sure that had me going until the last page.

Would I buy/ recommend? Oh yea... this will have you second guessing your significant other in a heart beat. So make sure you have a ton of time on your hands when you finally sit down to read because this book will BLOW YOUR MIND!

Thoughts for the author? It is so cool you used my sons name...omg fangirling. I need a signed copy stat! Loved the book. Congrats on your release!

Going to your grave with no name or memorial is surely the ultimate human failure.
That is from this book. The one sentence that in my opinion sums up a lot of this story.

This is my first book by Alison James and it won’t be my last.

It’s a thriller and mystery in one. One that will pull you in and keep you turning the pages until the end. This book really blew me away. You will know right from the start who the bad person is in this story but you won’t know all the details of what he is. He has lots of secrets going on and it’s our job to unravel them. This book made me cringe so many times. From murder to disappearance. From so many lies to possible truths. From before to now. You will not want to put this book down until you find out everything. I truly enjoyed trying to figure out what was going to happen next. It sure kept me on edge in lots of places and some things I did not see coming. The ending was spectacular in my opinion.

The characters of this book are likable. Some more than others of course. You’ll meet a man who in my opinion has no conscience in many ways but he still surprised in that he had some kind of feelings for the main character. But he is still a horrible person. Exactly who is this man? You will see a few sides to him and not like almost any of them. Like I said there is one time that I kind of liked him. Maybe liked that he had a tiny bit of feelings toward one person. Just the tiniest of feelings though.

You’ll read Alice’s story, from now and then. She has a lot to tell you and you will want to know what she has to say. Then you will get Ben’s story. Ben is who Alice fell in love with and married. But is Ben who he claims to be? Only a short part of this book, in part 1 you will hear his story and know something about him. The rest, the first, second and third parts are all Alice’s story and boy does she have a story to tell.

A huge thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture, #alisonjames for the eARC of this book. This is my own personal review.

I give it 4.5 stars and a high recommendation.

Alice met her dream man and married him to complete the fairytale. Dominic her husband could not be more perfect until the day he dies. When she thinks her heart can’t break anymore Dominic’s brother states that her husband is not Dominic, so who is he?
The book is told in three parts from Dominic and Alice’s perspectives. You learn about how they met all the way to Alice’s desperate fight to find out who she married. This book kept me gripped and you go on an emotional rollercoaster with Alice.
I have read all of the authors previous novels and this continues her exceptional body of work, can’t wait for the next book.

This book had me hooked from the first page, I wanted to keep reading on to see what happened.

The book also had me guessing all the way through! Although, without giving spoilers away I did expect a bit more from the ending.

3 stars ⭐⭐⭐

Manipulative.. calculating.. did not want to put it down 👀

The Man She Married, is set over three parts. Part one, the story goes between Alice's 'Now' briefly and 'Then'. She meets Dominic by chance and seems initially reluctant to go out on a date with Dom. In contrast, the Now, seems in what Alice thinks is an exciting place in time.. or is it...

It seems to me that whilst Alice defends the suddenness of certain events 'Then', she's not entirely sure, and has her own self doubts but doesn't question them enough.

It then goes to his perspective from prior to his meeting with Alison, to more recent times.

All is not what it first appears

Part two goes about Alison's now, coming to terms with her loss and all the other facts that have come to light.

Finally part three, endeavoring to find all pieces of the puzzle to try and answers all those long awaited questions....

Difficult to know what else to say without giving *spoiler alerts* other than you should read this to see for yourself.

What a great read, from the first page it has you gripped, the more you read, the more you don't want to put it down until you've finished. I've not read any books by this author before, but definitely would look out for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was an OK read for me. It just wasn’t what I had hoped for from the synopsis.
Sorry, not for me.

A twisted tale told in two parts by the main characters,a manipulative charmer with little morals and a naive woman willing to be charmed. Big surprise at the end but this book did not hold my interest

Alice married Dominic after a whirlwind romance. But when tragedy befalls Alice, she soon realises she doesn't really know Dominic at all.

The story is told in three parts, Alice, Dominic and the aftermath and told in the present and the past. I was gripped by this story after reading just a few pages. Alice and Dominicseen to be living an ideal life. But a k Rock on the door soon changes that. I liked Alice's character but I also wanted to knock some sense into her. It's obvious to the reader that Dominic is too food too be true. There is a few twists along the way. The plotline kept my attention throughout the book.

I would like to thank Netgalley, Bookouture and the author Alison James for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I did really enjoy this book. The author cleverly, in my opinion, writes a an awesome prologue which just had me desperate to read the rest of the book.... It's set out in three parts and tells the fairy tale romance of Alice and Dom, but do we ever really know the person we marry?
This book has it all lies, deceit, rape, adultery, shock, suspense and grief to name a few.
I do love relationship stories, they are fascinating but I sometimes wonder just how niave, or how many red flags these duped partners ignore along the way - I felt myself facepalm several times thinking oh no what are you doing/thinking!
Despite the facepalming i did buy Alisons next book immediately having finished this one so it didn't detract or spoil my enjoyment of the book in any way. Note to Publishers/authors everywhere those links on the last page really work - I just couldn't resist. I also have the friendship pact ready to read - new author for my favourites list.
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Alison James for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

First, I want to thank Alison James, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

The Man She Married by Alison James is a book that will question how well you know your spouse or partner. This book makes me proud to say I am single as I would have a hard time trusting man after this book! Saying this I can tell you this book is written unlike any other book I have read from Bookouture!

Right away I fell in love with the book cover it was simple and sweet with two overlapping wedding rings! It was set in a blue background with the lettering of the title above it. It represented the book very well. Kudos to the graphic artist.

Every book has a character you love and a character you hate. In this book I had one of each. I adored Alison but my heart broke for her so many times!! I wanted to give her a hug. On the same time I wanted to know why the heck she put up with Dominic like she did.

Yes, Dominic was not my fave person in this story. He had a very secretive personality like he was hiding something. He didn’t treat Alison like he should have especially in the bedroom. So many times I found myself screaming in my head what are you doing with him.

Alison hooked me right from the begging with the subject matter and with the amazing descriptions! I was just blown away by the last line of the of the prologue. I knew I needed to read more.

This book was broken down into parts. It was also broken down into Alice then and now. Then you are totally flipped the switch and introduced to Ben. He is a big part of the story that totally shocked me and threw me for the biggest loop. Oh, he has a back story to tell. I will be blunt I didn’t care for him or his storyline at all.
This book was filled with multiple lies, deceit, murder, stolen identities, rough sex, and broken hearts.

How well do you know the man you married?

Alice and Dominic had a whirlwind romance. Dominic is handsome and charming and Alice so much in love. Three years in she texts Dominic excited that she is pregnant and has dinner cooked for him ready to celebrate. When there is a knock on the door she is relieved he is finally home but instead of Dominic the police are at the door telling her that he has been killed in accident. When she goes to the coroner’s office to identify the body a man who says he is Dominic’s brother was also there since his name and number were in Dominic’s billfold. Alice looks at the body and instantly recognizes her husband, the brother looks at the body and states that this is not his brother, this is not Dominic! Alice eventually realizes that she doesn’t know the man who is the father of her child so she hires a, very reluctant and busy, private detective to help her find out who she was married to for 3 years.

This book definitely has some intense surprises and deceptions which kept me on the edge of my seat. The chapters sometimes alternate but are easy to follow. Alice was very naive and I saw red flags all over their relationship, but they say love is blind. The plot was somewhat predictable but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys a can’t put down psychological thriller.

A chilling story of deceit!

"The only thought in my mind is how this is like one of those riddles you find in a Christmas cracker. Because the man lying inside my husband's coffin is not my husband.
He's a total stranger."

How well do we really know the people we love.......

Alice's life seems near perfect.....she is married to a gorgeous guy and things seem back on track after a few hiccups. He swept her off her feet after a chance meeting in a elevator and after only a few months they are married. There are little niggles like her not meeting his family but there's always a plausible explanation.
She finds out she is pregnant on Valentine's day but her husband does not show up at home. Instead there's a knock on her door and her world falls apart......who was the man she was married to?

Dominic is the type of sleezeball our mothers have all warned is about. Hes a psychopath who will do whatever he fancies as long as he will benefit and who's got no qualms about killing people. To what ends will he go?

Although we knew from the beginning who the bad guy was I found it a very enjoyable and fast read. I will definitely try more books from this author.

A quick easy read. This is a good read but not as good as I hoped. We know Dominic’s real identity from early on in the book and his reasons for running. The story of Alice trying to work out who he was is good but I kept expecting something more.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Alice was such a relatable character in this book. How many times have women as well as men been scammed by their spouse, and they never even know! The way James wrote this book is remarkable. She made the characters so relatable and truly told the story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC of this book that I was given in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The first half of this book was almost nauseating it was so annoying. The main character was depicted as so dense that she annoyed flags so red that . . I don't even know. It was like the author read somewhere that she should give the reader some clues but she thought her reader was really really dumb.

The second half was better, but still predictable.

The biggest issue with this book was that the ending was not the resolution of the mystery. There was no reveal to the reader. Unless you call THAT the reveal (no spoilers), but if so, it was hella anticlimactic. We knew the end of the story halfway through the book. It just wasn't great.
