You know, I feel like I’m running out of adjectives to describe Ronie Kendig’s writing. You must know by now how much I love her writing, her creativity, and her heart-pounding action. King’s Falling is no exception.
The story begun in Storm Rising continues with heart-pounding action, a bit of passion, and a whole lotta tension, and true to her tagline (Rapid-Fire Fiction), it doesn’t stop. Kendig finds ways to honor God, military/paramilitary, and human growth and compassion in sometimes subtle but always beautiful ways.
I loved, loved, LOVED this story, and am anxious for Soul Raging, coming in November!!
Another excellent, gripping tale by this author. Couldn’t put it down. You’ll enjoy it if you like this genre.
Another great book by Ronie Kendig! I loved how fast paced it was and the story line. The characters are great and I look forward to reading the other books in the series!
This is an incredible action-adventure/military thriller novel!
This is part of a true series. You should read book one before this story.
This book has a huge cast of characters. I kept a list beside me to help me keep track of all of them. There is a wonderful team of special ops specialists. Each one had their own speciality and it was great seeing how they all worked together. Their interactions with each other between ops that they were sent out on was a lot of fun to see.
The plot of this book had so many twists and turns in it that I had to work to keep all of the details straight in my mind. There were many times that something that had come out earlier showed up again and in its second, or third, appearance suddenly was a very key factor in what was happening. This was definitely not a book to just sit back and relax while I was reading it. It was fun to actually have to work to follow the action.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.
This series is filled with so many amazing characters, I don't know how I'll ever look at books the same way again. Elite soldiers, a battle that might kill them all, and the love that holds them together creates the perfect trifecta of reading splendor. Ronie Kendig's detail and love for story shows through, and I become immersed in the world she creates.
I was blown away by the realistic quality of the characters. Alpha males and epic females working together and none of them seemed flat or less than they should be. They're real, raw, emotional, and I love them immensely.
It's not just about Leif and Iskra. It's all of them. The camaraderie, the never-say-die, and the perfect reflection of what it means to be a family (albeit perhaps a dysfunctional one) in the midst of chaos. This band of warriors have an enormous task ahead of them, and they never lose track of what is critical in their lives.
This is a book where the action never stops and you'll be riding a bullet of emotion through every twist and turn. I can't wait to see what happens in the final book and how the series finally wraps up. There's one thing I know, Kings Falling is a fast-paced, run to the finish but don't want it to be over kind of read.

Death and betrayal surround them on all sides...
Only the third Ronie Kendig book that I've read, Kings Falling was one intense roller-coaster of a ride through diverse cultures and spanning continents. It was a real page-turner and I finished it much faster than I usually would a 350+ page book with an end timesy theme, which is a genre-ish that I don't usually read. Good ol' Bethany House, one of the publishers who consistently produces such high quality books that I can't help but step out of my usual comfort zone and be glad I did.
Everything seems to be falling apart for Leif and his team. All they seem to be getting are more questions and very few answers. Those in authority seem to be hiding vital information and even the team members are dealing with mounting tension between themselves. And that doesn't even begin to touch the extreme danger Reaper is in as they face lies and betrayal in a desperate race to not only find the book but identify and stop the almost super-human warrior guardians of prophecy.
See what I mean? Intense action and adventure would be the three words that come to mind and I'm sure you can see why I had a hard time putting the book down. I actually think that Kings Falling may be my favorite of the two books so far in Ronie Kendig's The Book Of The Wars series. After the sort-of cliffhanger they left readers on I just can't wait the next couple of months or so until book three comes out. Please hurry, I HAVE to know what happens!

I am reviewing a copy of Kings Falling through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:
Leif Metcalfe and his team, The Reaper have to get the stolen, ancient Book of Wars in order to be able to stop Armageddon Coalition and their pursuit of economic control, globally. Their attention is diverted by a prophecy in the book that foretells of formidable guardians who will decimate the enemies of Arc. As Iskra Todorova uses her connections in the covert underworld to hunt down the Book of the Wars. Leif and Reaper both attempt to stop these agents but soon they found themselves outmaneuvered and outmanned.
The more the reapers try to stop the Guardians, the more they become familiar with failing, failure becomes a familiar, antagonistic, foe. In their efforts to try to stop, friendships become fractured as the team battles to hold It together long enough to defeat Arc. As the millennia-old conspiracy creeps closer and closer to home, the implications could tear Leif and the team apart.
If you are looking for an intriguing, action packed read, you can’t go wrong with Ronie Kendig’s King’s Falling. She has a way of drawing you in, and not letting you go.
I give Kings Falling five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
In typical Ronie Kendig style, this is a high-octane, thrill of a ride!
Kings Falling picks up right where Storm Rising left off. All the characters you met and loved in the first book, along with some others.
The writing in the book was superb, the characters well developed and the plot very complex. My only issue with the book was the romance. Don't get me wrong, I love a good romance in my books, but I felt that this one, especially the romantic conflict just took away from the story as a whole.
All in all, if you're a suspense lover, pick this book up!
***This is the second book in a series. You need to read them in order to understand the characters and their team relationship.***
The words that I think of when I reflect on this book is "WHAT THE HECK!" This book is a ride from the beginning to the end. The ending is a cliffhanger and not what I expected. I wish I had the third book right now!
Team Reaper is trying to save the world from Armageddon. They travel around the world and do their best to save the world from an organization that is trying to grab power from governments. You know that the events are huge when they are in search of "The Book of Wars", an ancient and detailed prophecy of the end days.
The book is action-packed from the beginning. The team is made up of operatives who are skilled in different areas and know what they are doing. Their relationship drives the story and how they help and react to each other. The book is emotional and suspenseful.
It contains Christian themes and violence.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my goshhhhhh.
It’s really not fair that one author can be *this* amazing. 😂
If Storm Rising was awesome and incredible, Kings Falling was mind-blowing and ferociously epic.
Where do I even begin??
Obviously, I adored reuniting with the team. Every member is so unique and comes with their own baggage to unpack and wrangle. I adore each one and the diversity and complexity of Reaper has completely stolen my heart.
One thing that really hit me in this book was the way the characters are developing. They have new enemies. Fears. Adversity. They are facing something entirely unprecedented, and as the characters fight individual battles, I adored watching as they interact with each other and handle some pretty awful situations. I think my two favorite character explorations were Leif and Cell. They are changing, growing, learning, and it’s AMAZING. (I’m trying to be vague here, but gahhhhhh)
As always, I enjoyed the world-travel I got to accomplish through Ronie’s skilled pen. It is *so much fun* going to tons of new places and accompanying the team as they fight against the powers of evil across the globe.
I thought the experiment/super soldier element was fascinating, and it adds so many feels to an already intense adventure.
If I can make an admission here, I miss my superhero movies. Now that Marvel has advanced into an entirely new phase, and Black Widow is postponed to November, it’s a balm to my disappointment to jump into Ronie’s incredible writing and larger-than-life journeys. #nerdout
To be real, I’m a smidgen obsessed with this story, but be prepared, because, um...that ending made me question Ms. Kendig’s status as a nice human.
Is it November yet?
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and a positive review was not required.
Content Advisory: This is a military/spy romantic thriller, so there are intense elements, including violence and war. Even suicide. Ronie tackles tough topics through a fascinating story and amazing heroes. That’s kind of what makes these books so special. But be aware, some elements may not be appropriate for younger audiences.
This book was riddled with so much action, I was finding spots to put the book down at night to sleep. The story continues with Leif, Iskra, and the rest of the Reaper team as they continue to find and decode the Book of Wars and hunt down the ArC.
More about Leif and Iskra's past unfolds as it comes back to haunt them. The more frustrating dynamic of the book was all the secrets that the characters seem to be keeping with each other, but it weaves together the perfect storm. My personal favorite part of the book was Mercy, and the relationship that unfolds between the reader between Adam Lawe and Peyton Devine. It was extremely exciting to get to know these characters on a deeper level and I found that I wanted more of them! I only wish that we were able to see more of Baddar and his personality unfold between him and Mercy.
If you are a fan of the Jason Bourne series and/or superheroes, this book is right up your ally. As Leif tries to piece together why he is the way he is, he has flashbacks and the reader is piecing the puzzle right a long with him. There are a lot of military terminology in the book, but it was easy to figure out what it is referring to, or fun to look up and be surprised as to the definition. I look forward to reading the last installment, as the author left us with a gripping cliffhanger that needs to be solved now.
I received this book for free but was under no obligation to post a review. The post above is my own thoughts and opinions done by my own desire.
Kings Falling is the second book in Ronie Kendig’s The Book of the Wars series. I’d advise reading the first book, Storm Rising, before reading this one. I read Storm Rising when it was released last year and wished I’d reread it before I started this one. One of Kendig’s strengths is creating deep, complex, and well-developed characters and involving them in nonstop action, precarious situations, and thrilling escapades. This book was typical Kendig fare. The various personalities and strengths of the characters added to my enjoyment of the story, and I loved the witty banter between the members of the team. The action is intense, and I often wondered how the author was going to get the team members out of their predicaments, but she always managed to do it in creative, imaginative ways.
I found myself a little confused at times with the characters sometimes being called by their first name, other times with the last name, and still others by a nickname. Also, the use of acronyms and military terms kept me guessing. The ending was rather abrupt and is sure to be continued in the final book of the series, but it left me feeling a little unsettled and hanging.
If you enjoy mind-blowing action and suspense with lots of intrigue and spots of romance thrown in, this is the series for you. Just be aware that you’ll need to read the whole series to get the full story.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
"If caught, they'd likely get charged with attempted murder, not with interdiction of said attempt, and vanish like so many others into a prison camp"
Well, if that quote doesn't prove Kings Falling able to keep you at the edge of your seat, I don't know what will.
Leif Metcalfe and his team are still on a mission to find Ammardegon and stop this superpowerful army. To do so, they need to find some people gone AWOL, decrypt a book written in different languages that might not even be spoken anymore, and infiltrate a country. Add to that, Leif needs to find time to prove Iskra she can trust him while he secretly searches for answers of what happened to him years ago. Add to that the fact that Lief thinks Iskra might be hiding something. Conspiracy, twists and turns, but also dreams of normalcy (vague? I know) keep your turning the page nonstop until... you hit the last one and find yourself in need of the third book ;-)
I love this series of books! This is the fourth book that I have read by this author, with these characters and they are all fantastic. The plot continues throughout the series so I would recommend starting with Book 1. As the team searches for the book of Wars, and tries to stop Armagedon, they face personal challenges as well. There is a sub plot where each character tries to put together pieces fro their past. It keeps the books interesting and they move quickly. There is a lot of action scenes so the reader never gets bored.
I would recommend my teenagers read this series of books, because they are clean and appropriate. The love scenes are very PG and mild.
I did receive a free copy of the book in exchange for this review.
I started reading this on my Kindle, but was in an ebook slump and had to stop reading it for a while and pick up a paperback for a bit. When I came back to the story, I was all in and couldn't stop reading or thinking about it!
So, I can't really tell you much about the story because pretty much anything I say will give things away. This was a 4 nail biter kind of book. I messaged the author because I was so on edge about the characters. lol Thankfully I was able to talk about the book with another reader and we ooo'ed and awwww'ed over it!
The Reaper team picks up where they left off chasing after the Book of Wars and trying to figure out the Neiothen. Leif and Iskra are trying to figure out what their relationship is... IF they have one at all. Leif is still trying to figure out what happened to the 6 months of his life he can't remember. The team is constantly in peril and all I could do was watch everything unfold as a helpless bystander (reader hahaha).
The writing was fantastic! There was so much suspense. The twists and turns were fantastic. The worst part? Waiting for book 3. Oh my gosh, I'm not sure how I'll handle the wait!
This is the second book in Ronie Kendig’s The Book of the War’s series, I read and reviewed Storm Rising! when it released last year, and boy was it captivating. I think that it is important to read the books in order as Ronie Kendig builds the characters in the first book and you get to know them and their situations. You may be slightly confused if you read them out of order.
The characters in Kings Falling build upon what was established in Storm Rising. I loved getting to know the characters better and how the different subplots are working together. That is one reason I love reading Ronie Kendig’s books, they always have a great depth of character. Aside from the main characters, the secondary characters caught my interest in this book, and I am not sure how we will get their full stories before the series ends (Uhm, Hint for more books about them?). I loved all the character’s playful banter, the dangerous situations, and the real-life problems that they faced together as a team.
The storyline is very intriguing and keeps me guessing, especially how this book ended. I am very much anticipating the release of Soul Raging coming out in November. The storyline reminds me of stories along the lines of Lord of the Rings, or The Chronicles of Narnia albeit with more fast-paced adrenaline run than either of those stories.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for the second book being just as good (if not better than) the first, for the great characters, and for keeping me up till midnight reading to see the ending only to get the shock of a lifetime. I highly recommend this book!
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
Review: I can't stop thinking about this book! I LOVE this series. I was on pins and needles the entire time. I honestly can't wait to read the next book.... but I must say... the ending? Seriously, Ronie Kendig?! How....HOW..... can you do that to your poor readers!? I don't think I'm going to be able to survive the wait until the next book.
Obviously, I'm seriously impressed with Kings Falling. I stayed up until 5 am to finish it - I honestly could not put it down. I tried. My husband tried to get me to try.... but nope. I couldn't stop reading it. A fabulous adventure that straddles the line of fantasy/epic war thriller/adventure/romance to perfection. There was a little bit of everything and just the right dose of each.
I am so excited for the next book in this series.
Thank-you to Net Galley and Baker Publishing House for a complimentary copy of this book to review.
Readers, brace yourselves. This book is full of action, will keep you on the edge of your seats, and leave you with what feels like a season finale ending. Wow this was one exciting read! And no speed reading here- Kendig has packed so many details (in a good way) in each and every page that you need to make sure you are paying attention. You might miss a clue for a plot twist that comes up later in the story! And besides, this novel is so intriguing that you cannot help but just hang onto every word. And newbies to the series – please read book one first, otherwise you may be lost here. It’s worth the read, trust me.
I have to be completely honest – there were times in this book I wasn’t sure our hunky hero was going to make it. It’s kind of like when you’re watching a tv show, and the main character’s life hangs in the balance, but you know they’re going to make it otherwise the show wouldn’t go on. Well Kendig had me fooled, because I was holding my breath, wondering if Leif was going to get through every obstacle he came across.
I was also glad to learn a little bit more about Iskra and Leif in this novel. After reading book one, I had some unanswered questions about them. While I still have a few questions left unanswered, thanks to Kendig’s masterful story telling technique, this reader is pretty satisfied with all I learned, and how Kendig offers it little bits at a time.
I highly recommend reading this series from the start. Full of action, a little romance, and a story line that keeps readers guessing, this is one of my favorites! I received a complimentary copy of this novel and was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First of all, Kings Falling is book two in the Book of the Wars series. If you haven’t read book one, Storm Rising, you definitely need to read it before starting Kings Falling. Both are amazing books, and when you finish Kings Falling you will probably be, like me, anxious to get your hands on book three!
Kings Falling was an incredible story, full of action and heart. The author constantly threw these characters into danger and put me on the edge of my seat, wondering if they would all make it through each mission.
But these stories, though full of adventure and danger, are truly character driven, as well. I found myself highly invested in every single person on this team and deeply concerned for their well being and any relationships that they were involved in. The author made me really care what happened to these fictional people who seemed so very real. I am desperate to read the third book in the series, Soul Raging.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This series is incredibly unique and totally unpredictable. As an avid reader of clean Fiction, I can usually guess what’s going to happen part way through a story. That never happens with Ronie Kendig. She takes me by complete surprise on more occasions than I can count. Kendig is the Christian Military Suspense master. If a book has her name on it, I’ve got to read it. Kings Falling took my breath away. Kendig built a world, and I didn’t want to leave it. I loved seeing the elite team Reaper, and enjoyed every moment I was able to spend with them. Their constant banter made me laugh and love them all the more. Being able to only read 349 pages was torture. I couldn’t get enough of Leif and his team and can hardly wait until the next book comes out. The precision that Kendig writes her stories proves how much time and research she spends to make everything as accurate as possible. This story is full of scenes where I could feel as if I was there with them. I could feel the tension, the frustration, and the adrenaline of trying to figure out who the next target was and how they could be saved. I can already tell this series is going to have a permanent spot on my shelf! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a one of a kind ride. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own
