The Best Man Problem by Mariah Ankenman is a fun romance. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for the author's other books. I love all the quirky characters that bring this book together.. If you want a funny, heartwarming quick read, I recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Lilly and her two best friends own a successful event planning business. Due to her past she lives by a strict set of rules that include never getting with anyone in the wedding party so when the best man shows up with the bride and groom for their next event she is shocked and dismayed to find out he is the man she spent one night with.
Lincoln has been burnt by love in the past and isn’t about to repeat the experience. He enjoyed the night he spent with Lilly and not only did he regret that she was gone before he was awake but now that she is back in his life he is beginning to think that one night is not enough.
The more time they spend together they more they realize they have in common and the more the chemistry between them escalates but is it enough to overcome their pasts?
Lilly and Linc are both great characters who help each other heal from the past and the secondary characters were a great addition to the story.
This is the second book in Mariah Ankenman's Mile High Happiness series. I loved this one just as much as the first book, if not more.
Lilly is a wedding planner with a strict rule of no relationships with anyone involved in her weddings, including the best man. When Lincoln Reid shows up to one of her client's meetings she is shocked to find out that her one-night stand is the best man in the wedding she is planning. She insists that they can't get involved (again) but Lincoln can't help but push her boundaries. Will Lilly stick to her guns or will Lincoln win her over?
I loved this one so much. It was a quick and cute read that I read in one sitting. I definitely recommend it!
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I really enjoyed this one as well. It was funny and the romance was adorable.
It was fun tagging along while these two opposites attracted.
Book 2 in the Mile High Happiness series and it was good read. Quick read with very likeable characters. Lincoln and Lily were good together. Good storyline that was very sweet and cute.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I loved this premise and was eager to settle in with a quick and fun read.
I liked Lilly and Lincoln. They’re both driven people who are loyal to their friends. They definitely had chemistry and a decent amount of conversation, but I never really saw the spark that every character talked about. Both of their inner monologues just talked about how hot and sexy the other one was. The are other characters, but no one stood out.
Plot wise it was meh. There’s loads of push and pull and while I can appreciate Lilly not wanting to get involved while Lincoln was in the wedding party, a little open communication wouldn’t have hurt anyone. Scenes, phrases, and character descriptions were repetitive and it all knocked me out of the story.
Overall, it was a quick story with a lot of potential, sadly it fell flat for me. I’m not sure if I’ll be reading any of the others in the series.
**Huge thanks to Entangled for providing the arc free of charge**
A charming story. Both Lily and Lincoln have been burned in a past relationship and are wary of starting a new one. That doesn’t stop their sizzling attraction. This is a witty and funny story with wonderful characters. These two get to know each other and explore their options for a future together. There are some steamy scenes that add spice to the story.
This was a super-cute, low-angst story, quick and easy to read. Wedding planner Lilly has a one-night-stand with a stranger she meets at a hotel bar the night her best friend gets married. So imagine her surprise when Linc turns out to be the best man for the next wedding she’s planning!
Lilly has all kinds of reasons why she can’t get involved with Linc, and he’s determined to use the four weeks before his buddy’s wedding to prove to the wedding planner why they should most definitely get involved.
The Best Man Problem is a typical, feel-good romance. No big surprises, but just an enjoyable story about falling in love despite your best efforts not to. It is a stand-alone within a series (the previous book features one of Lilly’s business partners, who is the friend getting married when the story opens). But this story truly stands on its own.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Lilly has trouble thrusting men, Lincoln has reservation about handling his heart, but the Spark is inevitable. They have a one night stand that ignited fireworks in and out of bedroom. They need to trust in each other and in LOVE again.
I received a ARC from Netgalley for a honest review. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of “The Best Man Problem” by Mariah Ankenman. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I started off the year wanting to read more romance so this fit the bill. This story was short and fluffy following Lilly after engaging in an out-of-character one night stand. Despite feeling chemistry with the guy (Lincoln), she sneaks out on him but is later confronted with him again when it turns out she’s planning his best friend’s wedding.
Lilly and Lincoln were constantly trying to not be horny for each other and it got a little old. I get that Lilly wanted to be professional, but no one else except for Lilly seemed to have an issue with her and Lincoln hooking up. It didn’t seem like reason enough to keep them apart for the whole book when they were just. So. Horny. I felt like the Shia LaBeouf ‘Just Do It’ gif for most of the story. I was waiting for more conflict to come up (like one of their ex’s showing up or something) but it was more internal emotional conflict that kept them apart.
Also Lilly having to constantly push up her glasses made me want to tell her to get to an optometrist and get those things adjusted. I know it was meant to be a sexy teacher/librarian thing but having to constantly push up your glasses would be really frustrating in day to day life especially since Lilly had vision problems without them.
3/5 stars
2.5 stars.
I really struggled to get into this book. I must admit, third person POV is not my favorite. It takes a really good story to get me to connect to the characters. And I just didn’t feel it. Not a connection towards the characters individually or to each other’s.
Lilly runs a successful wedding planning business along with two of her friends.
After her friend’s wedding, she feels lonely and ends up having a one night stand.
Only to find out that the best man of the next wedding she’s planning is her one night stand - Lincoln.
She has a self imposed rule of not engaging in any type of relationship with members of her clients weddings after an awful past experience.
This had all the makings of a great story. Some of the side characters were kind of amusing.
I just didn’t find the heroine to be anything but cold and robotic.
And they both had an unnecessary amount of internal rambling that bored me to death.
Sorry, this story was just not for me.
I loved this story. It was funny, sweet and the characters were easy to love and connect with.
Lilly is a wedding planner, she doesn’t do one-night stands, she doesn’t date clients or anyone in the wedding party. She is hard working and great at what she does. Lincoln is new to hear area and the best man to his best friends wedding. A wedding that Lilly just so happens to be planning. A wedding planner he has previously met and knows in an intimate way.
I LOVED Lilly, Moe and Pru’s friendship. These girls are the best of friends and coworkers. They are a group of women that I would love to be friends with. I equally loved Lincoln’s friendship with Marie and Kenneth. Lilly and Lincoln together is AMAZING. These two had such an amazing connection. I couldn’t get enough of them.
The Best Man Problem is a super fun, sweet, hilarious romance novel that will warm your heart. I can’t wait to see what is next up for the Mile High Happiness crew.
Thank you to Netgallet, author and publisher for a copy if this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this sooo much! I didnt even read a full chapter of this book before going back and putting the book 1 on my TBR and buying a copy.
This was a fun, quick, funny romance between two people who aren't sure the other is what they want but who cant seem to stay away from each other. I loved everything about this. The characters are wonderful, the writing is amazing, I did not want to put it down. I cant wait to go back to read the first book in this series.
I think I may have found a new favorite author!
Mariah Ankenman has done it again. Although the second book in her Mile High Happiness series this can be read as a standalone and I honestly recommend it. Ankenman’s writing style has you emotionally invested in these character’s stories and makes it impossible for you to put down and craving more when its over.
This book follows Lilly, who I found myself connecting with in the first book in the series ‘The Best Friend Problem’ and was so happy that this book focused on her and the possibility of a new romance. Lilly has made mistakes which she has learnt from and put in security measures to make sure they never happen again. She is detail orientated and relies on making lists to determine how she feels. It was nice to see her struggle with her beliefs and face her own feelings about her past.
I adored Lincoln and he really was a man after my own heart. Computer genius who loves to play arcade games and RPG’s?! Where do I sign up for a Lincoln of my own? I found myself just falling in love with more and more as the book went on!
This is a book about friendships, shaping your past and being compatible with other people even if you don’t have a lot in common. I love this series and I cannot wait for Ankenman’s next book which will hopefully follow Mo!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed Lilly and Sally’s love story in The Best Man Problem by Mariah Ankenman, book two in the Mile High Happiness series. Wedding planner Lilly Walsh likes to play it safe and avoid getting too involved. That’s because the last time she hooked up with someone in a wedding party she almost lost her wedding planning business. So no worries when she meets a handsome strange in a hotel bar. Bad pirate jokes lead to the best night of her life, but come morning, she escapes before he wakes because she has a wedding to plan. Lincoln Reid never expected to see the woman who rocked his world the night before, but there she is, planning his best friend’s wedding, with the same passion that brought him to his knees. But, Lilly has a rule that the wedding planner and the best man can never date. With only four weeks until the wedding, Lincoln pulls out all the stops to make her see him as more than just a one-night guy. Somehow, these two keep running into each other, interacting and hanging with the almost-bride and groom. Waiting until the wedding is over builds the anticipation for when they can spend another night together, and another, and . . . These two opposites complement the other and fit like a hand and a glove. They have off the chart electricity and a magnetism that keeps drawing them together.
Ms. Ankenman wrote a fun, and sexy romance that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, sexual chemistry, humor, and endearing characters giving Lilly and Lincoln a chance at love, and forever together. I highly recommend The Best Man Problem to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Complementary copy given for honest review.
Easy read. Great plot. I loved the realistic approach to being open to dating after betrayal. I loved this book and plan to explore the series.
More good times with Mariah, the woman can write a great story. I didn't put this one down!
Once again Mariah outdoes herself with this comical story between uptight Lilly and a one night oops and now best man for the wedding she is planning, Lincoln.
Lilly is the detail oriented, twisted a little tight, and public face of Mile High that she partners with her two best friends. Lilly has a firm rule of not mixing business and pleasure. And doesn't she get the surprise of her life when the wedding she's currently working on and has been working with the couple bring their best men along with them to a meet. He's best friends with both the bride and groom and will be taking over their business while they're on their honeymoon. Lincoln is also the on off she had, so out of character for our Lilly.
Lincoln is enjoying his time in Colorado, getting a much needed break from the business he runs and spending time with his friends all the while doing his best to charm the bejeepers out of Lilly. While she's doing everything she can to keep him at arms length but the chemistry between these two just sizzles right off the pages. Wowza! And of course it wouldn't be normal or right without Mo chiming in with her carefree, no filter spirit encouraging Lilly to "nail that man". Balancing out the act is the Pru who does her best to give Lilly some sound advice here. Lilly has good reason to avoid any sort of contact with her clients and that past mistake seems to run her life. Mariah's gift of telling a good story infused with over the top humor is a gift to the reader. Watch how these two resolve their issues along with a little help from their friends. But will she or won't she? A must read to find out.
This was an easy breezy five slapping good stars from me.

Opposites do attract!
Wedding planner Lilly Walsh swore to never date anybody involved with any wedding she was planning again so when she met Lincoln Reid in a bar and had a one night stand, she thought she was in the clear. Little did she know that she would see Lincoln again as the best man of the next wedding she was planning? Lincoln was moving to Denver for work and he really liked Lilly and wanted to see her more but she refused to give him the time of day after the problems that happened the last time she dated someone in a wedding her company was planning.
The Best Man Problem is fun to read where Lilly and Reid are very opposite types where Lilly hates computers and that is Reid’s job is but they both love to play pinball games which leads to his groveling scene which I loved.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Best Man Problem by Mariah Ankenman is a romantic comedy that I had a little trouble with. The storyline could have worked. Lily has a one night stand with a guy who ends up being the best man in the next wedding she is planning.
What I did like:
I mostly liked Lincoln’s character and he totally won me over with the ending.
Lincoln’s friends were adorable. If they had their own book I would read it.
Lilly’s friendships and her success at her job
What I didn’t like:
Lilly was successful at her job and seemed to be unstable in life
Mo was just crude to me. Other readers may like her character but I just found her annoying
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

I loved loved loved this book.
This is the second book with in the mile high happiness series however it can be read as a standalone book.
Lilly is an amazing wedding planner, however seeing "happily ever after" every day can be quite lonely! Turning to a handsome stranger to distract her for one night. Lilly expects never to see Lincoln again!
The universe has other plans, when Lincoln walks into her office as the best man to the bride and groom who's wedding she is planning. The chemistry is still there, however now add in feelings!
I absolutely loved Lilly and Lincoln!! Lincoln has to be the BEST book boyfriend ever!!!!! I loved his bad "dad" jokes!!
This book gets a massive 5 stars from me! Also, YES TO PINEAPPLE ON PIZZAS haha!
