The Best Man Problem is the second book in the Mile High Happiness series by Mariah Ankenman. While the characters are very connected, newcomers can still fully enjoy the read on its own. It is currently scheduled for release on January 20 2020.
Lilly Walsh is used to keeping things buttoned-up and aboveboard. After all, the last time she hooked up with someone in a wedding party, it nearly cost her her wedding planning business. Thankfully, those rules don’t apply when she meets a handsome stranger in a hotel bar. One bad pirate joke leads to the best night of her life, but come morning, she’s got a wedding to plan. Lincoln Reid never imagined he’d see the woman who rocked his world last night and then ran out on him ever again. But there she is, planning his best friend’s wedding with the same passion and drive that brought him to his knees. She’s adamant that wedding planner and best man can never mix, but that just means he’s got four weeks to make her see him as more than just a one-night guy. Because he’s itching for more than one night...or five, or ten…
The Best Man Problem is a nice return to the Mile High Happiness wedding planning business. Lilly and Lincoln each have their share of history and baggage, and neither are particularly good at opening up. This need to keep feelings lock down is something I could relate to, and was the majority of my connection to Lilly. I liked the story, and I think the conflict, heat, and resolution were all well done. I liked the secondary characters and their stories almost more than the main story. Marie and Kenneth's love story really caught my attention and I wanted more of them. I also cannot wait to see more of Mo. However, for some reason I just could not fully engage in the read. It could very well be because of my headspace when reading more than anything else, but I did enjoy the read over all and will be continuing the series.
The Best Man Problem is a fun read with feels and moments of heat. I think fans of the author will enjoy it but I will admit that I thought the first book in the series was better. This will not stop me from reading the series, because now I need to see Mo find her HEA.
Although not having read The Best Friend Problem, it was very easy to read The Best Man Problem. The story is light and funny and has the right swoonfactor.
Lilly has her own wedding business with her best friends Pru and Mo. Having had a very bad experience with a relationship with one of her wedding customers, makes Lilly very scared to have any involvement with one of her customers. Fortunately this does not apply to handsome strangers in a bar. But when said handsome stranger turns out to be the best man in her next wedding assignment, Lilly is adamant to steer clear of Lincoln.
Lincoln doesn't do relationships, after his ex-wife cheated on him. So when he picks up a gorgeous woman in a bar for a one night stand he is very happy. Until she is disappeared the morning after, without even telling her (last) name. So, imagine his surprise, when he comes face to face with the woman who haunts his dreams for weeks now. But where Lincoln is trying to pursue some more nights of fun, Lilly keeps telling him no. But after stealing a kiss or two, Lincoln can see her resolve crumbling. But can he trust another woman? Or will he be lost once again? Funny banter, hilarious friendships and a lot of romance. Four out of five stars from me and awaiting the next part. Hopefully about Mo, because she is a hoot! Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc.

My review:
This was such a cute read. After sneaking away from her one-night stand Lily comes face to face with him a week later when her clients come in to introduce her their best man. She pretends not to know Lincoln and it stinks but he goes along.
She has a strict no dating anyone in the client's inner circle. Even though she is very attracted to Lincoln. He plans to convince her he's worth more than just a one-night stand.
They decide that after the wedding takes place they will try dating. Lincoln finally gets Lilly to share why she has such a strict dating policy.
All the banter between these two is great. Both sets of best friends are great additions to the story and sources of fun. Especially Mo.
This was my first read from author Mariak Ankenman and I really enjoyed her writing style. I'm looking forward to going back and reading Pru's story and whatever else this author puts out.
I received an ARC from Entangled Publishing for an honest review

4.5 stars - Cute with a nice dose of sexy. The first book is the series is my favorite so far, but this is a close second.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars
Lily and Lincoln didn't expect to see each other again after their one night together. They get a big surprise when he turns out to be the Best Man in the wedding she and her company are planning.
The story was sweet, a little spicy, and had a dash of humor. I really liked the chemistry between Lily and Lincoln and how they came to care for each other for more than just physical attraction. As the story progressed I found myself wanting to keep reading so I could find out how the author would get them to their HEA. I ended up finishing it in just over a day.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone.
This was my first book by Mariah Ankenman and I absolutely loved it! Such an amazing read filled with all kinds of reading goodness:
✔️Positive and uplifting friendships (on both her and his sides).
✔️Strong women who own who they are and what they (they are hot).
✔️Sexy, down to earth, realistic men who aren’t afraid to be both strong and vulnerable (man tears are sexy as....)
✔️The one night stand that rocked their worlds (walk of success people not walk of shame 😉).
✔️A deliciously entertaining journey from said one night stand to a sexy no holds barred romp that would seal their fate.
✔️A drool worthy happily ever after that you will thoroughly enjoy.
TBR this fantastic read and if you’re like me you’ll also grab the first book in this series “The Best Man Problem” and gobble that up as well.
(I received an ARC via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review).
It is definitely a feel-good, cute romance with a happy ending.
Lilly, a wedding planner, falls hards for Lincoln, best man of the wedding party after a one-night stand. It has good level of steam and the way Lilly stops herself from going to Lincoln every single time is absolutely hilarious. Also both their pasts shaping this new relationship built their characterization. Also they have amazing friends forming a very strong support system and are hilarious people too. It was a fun read for the holiday season!
Lilly walks the straight and narrow and after an incident that almost costed her the wedding planning business, she never hooks up with anyone from the wedding party. And when she hooks up with a stranger she met in a bar she knows there is no chance of that happening.
Lincoln thought he will ever see Lilly again after she walked out on him, and he never thought she would be the one planning his best friends wedding. And even though she is adamant that nothing can happen between them, he has 4 weeks to get her to change her mind.
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were fun and the story flowed. It was funny and enjoyable read, the characters had some intense chemistry between them, and a touch of drama in the end made it a complete entertainer.
4.5 stars!
I absolutely adored this story. The author's writing style flows very easily and made me connect with and care for both Lilly and Lincoln very deeply. The friendships were also fantastic and the dynamics between the different characters, really entertaining. I specially enjoyed Mo's antics and definetely plan to read her book (which I assume will be next in the series). In summary, I found this to be a very fun, sweet and heartfelt story and I enjoyed it inmensely. I would definitely recommend it to any romance reader.

I read the first book in Mariah Ankenman's Mile High Happiness series, The Best Friend Problem and thought it was a cute romance. The same went for book two, The Best Man Problem. The second book is about Lilly, she is a cautious woman who is a bit closed off. And Lincoln, and man she has a one-night stand with and ends up being the best man to the wedding she is working on!! Lilly doesn't mix business with pleasure anymore (for reasons) and Lincoln got his heart broken, so the two are kind of both closed off, so it was fun to watch these two dummies finally figure things out!
I really understood why Lilly was the way she was. I really felt for her childhood with a mother who just didn't seem to really care about being a mom, but about finding her own happiness. That's really hard on a kid. So I really got why Lilly didn't think true love was a real thing. Also, what happened before to affect their business makes sense too.
I also felt for Lincoln because he had his heart broken by his ex-wife. So it made sense he didn't want anything serious, but I was also like, "Okay, why are you chasing this lady who is looking for serious commitment?" Don't worry, he was just confused.
This one was cute and it has a HEA, so that is always great to read. If you want a cute, short romance book to read with low-to-medium heat level, I definitely recommend this one.
This was a typical romance book. I enjoyed it and found myself sucked in and reading because I connected to the story and the characters! Our past always shapes our future so I understood the conflict of the relationship, but so thankful for such great friends! This is a great book for anyone who loves reading about friends and romances!
The Best Man Problems by Mariah Ankenman a five-star read that isn’t a problem. This is number two in the Mile High Happiness series and they can be read as stand-alone. Lilly Walsh was a character I wanted to alternately pat on the back for being a superhero and gather into a massive hug and tell her that there were people in the world who cared about her and loved her and showed her that you don’t have to be afraid of love, even when no one has shown you how. This was such a funny story, even if it did have the worst jokes, some of them were so bad they were actually funny. Who knew a pirate joke could change a life. This is a great story filled with compelling characters that you need in your life.
This one was a bit of a challenge for me. Typically, I don’t like a lot of physical romance in the stories I read. I struggled to find depth with both the characters and plot. At times I did enjoy the writing and the characters, but unfortunately there were times I didn’t connect with the main characters like I wish I could have.
Lilly is the go-to wedding planner in Colorado. If there’s a ex crashing a wedding or an in-law that’s had too much to drink and starts karaoke, she knows exactly how to handle the situation without breaking a sweat. Everything professionally is copacetic, until she has her first and only one night stand with a stranger from a bar who turns out to be the best man from the wedding she’s currently planning.
Lincoln is looking for an escape. He’s been hurt in the past and is looking for nothing meaningful. He’s at the point on his life where he’s looking for fun and not ready for the funny, spirited wedding planner.
I understand as a romance book there will be steam and sexual tension but if that’s all there is to a relationship, I do not connect well with the book. I like a story with a side of sexual encounters, not where they take up the whole story and that’s what drives the characters.
Lilly I liked at times, other times I found her character flat. She had a fun, girly sense of humor, but her constant refusal of Lincoln, and then acting on impulse was frustrating. I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get a grip. Lincoln was nice and I really did feel for him, but he was constantly thinking with the wrong part of his anatomy. He would push reason and understanding out of the way to make room for superficial lust.
I love the friendships within this book for both Lilly and Lincoln. They are witty and entertaining and you can sense the camaraderie and love between all of them. I felt more of a connection and love between the friends than I did with Lilly and Lincoln as a couple.
The writing was done really well with this book. The author did a wonderful job setting the scene and making me feel like I was a part of the story. Most of the time i thought this would make into one really cute movie. But all in all I don’t think this book was made for a reader like me.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I can understand Lily's hesitation about a relationship with Lincoln. It was almost a form of foreplay between them for the days that they weren't together. They both have such wonderful friends. I think it's the friends aspect of this book that I liked the best.
Since this is a romance novel, we all know that Lilly is going to run into the hunky guy with whom she shared a torrid one-night stand. He’s the Best Man for the wedding she’s planning for her business that she shares with her two best friends. She decides that she can’t be involved with a member of a wedding party because of a disastrous hook-up she’d had previously with a different Best Man.
I got a bit tired of her going back and forth with how she treated Lincoln who seemed a really nice guy. And once she gets that go-ahead from the bride and her business partners to go for it with Lincoln, her constant dithering got annoying.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from the publisher; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
I love when I can relate to a book! Don’t get me wrong I read to escape and enjoy life through a new characters eyes but I also find a book that is realistic and relatable really lasts and stays with me and I found that in the pages of this beautiful story!
Lincoln and Lilly had both been burned by past relationships and were hesitant about anything more in their future but fate definitely decided to play a fun game with them! Thrust together time and time again these two found themselves forming not only a friendship but a bond that only got deeper with each second spent together; if only they could run away from their pasts then maybe forever could be a possibility again!
I loved how each the hero and the heroine had an amazing circle of friends and how brutally honest they were with each other! I think that was one of the big things that kept me reading! Plus a story about my home state/town really makes me giddy!
Lilly and her two best friends own a successful wedding planning business. Lilly was feeling a little lonely after the wedding reception for one of her friends ended, so stopped in the hotel bar for a drink. She met a man who was staying at the hotel and had her first ever one-night stand.
Lincoln is in the process of moving to Denver to be closer to his two best friends who are in the process of planning their wedding. His new apartment won’t be available for a few days, so he decides to stay in a hotel rather than imposing on his friends. While there, he meets a woman in the bar and also experiences his first one-night stand, having the best sex of his life. However, he is disappointed when he awakens and finds her gone.
Lilly has an appointment with one of her favorite engaged couples and is surprised when the best man tags along to the appointment. She is even more surprised to find that the best man, Lincoln, is also her one-night stand!
Lilly and Lincoln keep running into each other, but she created a hard-fast rule that she won’t enter into a relationship with someone who is either a client or part of their wedding party after a bad experience. After a bad marriage, Lincoln isn’t interested in a relationship, but would definitely like to hook up with Lilly again.
Can two people with baggage from prior relationships led down their guards and open their hearts enough to take a chance on love?

This book had some funny, sweet moments. It takes place in Denver, in which our heroine Lily, a wedding planner works with her BFFs. The book opens with the wedding of one of Lily's best friends. I think this might be book 2 of a series? I'm getting there is A LOT of backstory on this couple... Anyway, following the wedding, Lily meets Lincoln in a bar and they spend the night together.
Hijinx ensue when Lily finds out Lincoln is the best man in a wedding she is planning. Since she doesn't date men from wedding parties, it puts their relationship on a back burner.
I enjoyed the description of the city and the relationships between friends in this book. They were a little one sided with conversations centering around the romantic entanglements of Lily & Lincoln, but it's forgivable.
Where I ran into some trouble was the 2 main characters... Their personalities seemed to change daily-- first Lily is anxious and taciturn... Then she is a BossLady, kicking ass and takin names. Lincoln is very cool and sweet and respectful, but then he's a love em and leave em guy.
I could not get into this story because I kept feeling like these abrupt changes came without any set up. Also, everyone is straight (unless plot device is needed) & white. There are no black or brown people in Denver? C'mon...
If you're interested, you will find this a quick light read.
This was pretty good. A little cliche at times but I enjoyed the read. I also enjoyed the hero more than the heroine. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.
