I've been a big fan of Sylvia Day's historicals since she started writing them and this one was great! Minerva Spencer has quickly become a 'must-buy-must-read' author for me since her debut and this story confirmed that. Kristin Vayden is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed her story, too.

A great collection of sexy historical novellas!

All the authors did a good job writing their stories. There was some twist, plenty of romance and a good entertainment. I would say this is a good book to introduce you to a new authors. Here you got three great ones.

I’m a fan of Sylvia Day so I knew I had to pick this one up. Starting with Sylvias book, Mischief and the Marquess, I enjoyed it. I’m not surprised since I enjoy Sylvia's writing style. Justin and Sophie has a cute second chance romance with some steam! It did lack in some areas and I found myself thinking okay this is a little ridiculous. I gave this one 3/5 stars. The next book The Dukes Treasure by Minerva Spencer I liked. I love a good marriage of connivence and I really like Jo and Beau but this story just felt rushed and I didn’t feel connected to the characters. They were definitely an unlikely couple. The steam was there but I need more than some steam for it to be convincing. 2/3 stars. Now for the last, The Inconvenient countess by Kristin Vayden. I loved this story. Brook and Diana story was steamy and had a good story. I really got to feel for the characters and see their friendship blossom. I stayed intrigued and couldn’t put it down. After reading this I definitely want to pick up more from this author! 4/5 stars. Overall, I enjoyed reading these novellas but I think The Inconvenient Countess could do well as a stand-alone. 3/5 stars for the bind-up.

The Arrangement is a historical romance novel novel consisting three stories and are written by Sylvia Day, Minerva Spencer, and Kristin Vayden. They are all sexy, sensual, and entertaining in their own way.

A terrific trio of historical romances. Loved all three of these stories.

Many thanks to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy. I love Sylvia Day's writing, you can feel everything that each character is feeling. The book has three novellas throughout. All three were great reads, all different types of stories.

This is a collection of novellas; the overall low score is related to the last story. Day's and Spencer's stories make sense in their format because they have characters who already have a relationship, so the novella has less to accomplish to get the HEA. Vayden's story was horrible. The characters are unlikeable, the writing is stilted, and the relationships don't make sense.

Read via a e-galley from Netgalley.

I don't normally care to read short story collections, because they are short stories and therefore leave me wanting, but since I was offered a free ARC from NerGalley.com and I like these authors, I decided to give it a try. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

The three stories were all well written and the authors managed to develop the characters and the plot well, despite the short length. However, the book was also full of teasers, which I did not realize until I finished the single chapter and was not pleased. Because of that, I don't know that I would recommend buying this book.

I have read some books by this author and I can honestly say that this one was not my favorite. I don't know if it was the era it takes place in or maybe the lack of emotion the story sparked, I was not totally convinced. The writing is one again flawless and that helps but the story didn't captivate me.

I have a soft spot for Sylvia Day's historical romance and this didn't disappoint. Really enjoyed being introduced to new authors in this anthology as well.

This is a collection of novellas, all involving arranged marriages. Specifically, we have one story with matchmakers and two with marriages of convenience, and the overall effect is... mixed.

Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day

I have to say, this was my least favourite of the three. I felt like we started in the middle of the series and skipped to the end. The most frustrating thing was that no-one ever explains exactly why or how Sophie is so ruined that she can't imagine a happy ending with Justin. I do however give Justin kudos for considering it unthinkable that he would sleep with Sophie and not marry her, and then following through. He was possibly my favourite of the heroes for his integrity and common sense.

The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer

Beau needs money. Jo has money, and has secretly been in love with him for five years. Her father brokers the match from his deathbed, a match that has its roots in tangled relationships from - you guessed it - five years ago. I enjoyed how Beau and Jo got to know each other and you know what? I changed my mind. I love how Beau made a conscious decision to honour and befriend his new wife, even as his ex-fiancee and current sister-in-law crashes the honeymoon. I do think this one finished quite abruptly though.

The Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden

In a flip of the previous story, Diana needs money and Brook needs respectability. This one made a little bit less sense than the other one and I found the story even more rushed. Of course, the best part was how Brook and Diana both decided that while this wasn't an ideal situation, they would make the best of it and learn to live with the other - and of course, 'live with' turns to love with startling alacrity.

Overall, this was a decent but not great collection of stories that had good relationships but where (likely due to word limits) the plots all fell by the wayside. Three stars.

Synopsis:

#1 international bestselling author Sylvia Day, hailed as "one of the most successful romance writers in the world," is joined by powerhouses Minerva Spencer and Kristin Vayden for a trio of sizzling historical romances that prove passion is timeless in...The Arrangement.

Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day - Available for the first time since 2007!

Justin, the Marquess of Fontaine, and Lady Sophie Milton-Riley, are completely ill-suited to one another. But they will have to prove it in order to end to their mothers' insistence that they should marry. Yet the more they attempt to demonstrate how wrong their union would be, the more surprisingly, irresistibly right things feel...

The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer - First time in print!

Plain, prickly Josephine Loman has loved Beaumont Halliwell, the Fifth Duke of Wroxton, since the first time she saw him. But the most beautiful man she's ever met had eyes only for Jo's erstwhile friend, who betrayed Beau's trust by marrying his brother. Beau hasn't been home in years, but when his brother dies in an accident, he must marry to save the impoverished dukedom. And Jo is the overlooked heiress who will turn his world upside down...

The Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden - First time in print!

As the eldest in a poverty-stricken family of daughters, Miss Diana Katherine Lambson's only option is a marriage of convenience. Her only prospect is a rogue with a miserable reputation. Her only true desire: freedom. And that is exactly what Charles Brook, Earl of Barrington, is willing to offer, in return for the respectability their union will give him. He will even provide Diana with a contract. But does she dare entrust her future to a scoundrel? Does she dare not to?

Review:
I love, love, love Sylvia Day. She is in my top five authors that I just absolutely adore everything they write. This book has three stories in it; and of course my favorite was from Sylvia. However, the other two stories were equally as well written and loveable. The stories are charming and steamy. I was only disappointed when I finished the last page. I could have read about all the characters that fill these pages for hours!

This was a wonderful collection of romances. Pretty steamy, so if you prefer something tamer, this is not a good choice.

These three different stories are from three different talented authors. All the stories are passionate, and very entertaining. All are about marriage of convenience in historical times. The words flow from the pages and keeps you turning page after page. A great collaboration of stories.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve read any historical romance but I couldn’t resist this collection of novellas mainly because Sylvia Day’s historicals (back in ‘the day’) were so addictive!

Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day
The first story in the collection is Day’s and it was just as I remembered her books to be: sexy, passionate and utterly addictive!
In Mischief and the Marquess, we get a marquess reuniting with a woman he had loved when they were young but who was utterly oblivious to his affections and therefore agreed to marry another. A scandal ruined her reputation and now she lives quietly with her grandmother - who just happens to be close friends with the marquess’s mother. Naturally, match-making schemes ensue!
I liked both the characters very much, their chemistry set the pages on fire and I was left thoroughly charmed and delighted by their story.
My one complaint is my almost universal complaint when it comes to novellas - even ones written as well as this was - it was too short to have any real depth! There was no time to properly dive into the characters and the complexities of society thus overcoming the barriers to their pairing in a believable way… But Day still gave me more than I was expecting, so it’s a minor niggle.

The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer
Minerva Spencer was a completely new to me author coming into this novella but after reading I’ll definitely be checking out her other titles.
The Duke's Treasure is a story of a soldier returning from war to deal with his family's estate - and his new title - after the death of his elder brother. His estate is in desperate need of money so he marries a stupendously wealthy gentleman’s daughter who is technically beneath a duke’s station seeing as her father made his fortune (and continues to do so) in trade. Both characters were prickly about the union and they didn’t get off to the easiest start and I found their prickly interactions and sniping a bit irritating when all I wanted was a nice story but I was pleased to see them get over themselves fairly quickly and build a union that worked.
This one was my least favourite of the three novellas but I still enjoyed it.

The Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden
Kristin Vayden is another new to me author but I enjoyed her writing style very much.
In this novella, we have a workaholic rake in need of a wife in order to show he’s turning over a new leaf and becoming a family man in order to secure the purchase of another estate. Due to his reputation, he’d struggle to find a bride in London society so he returns to his country estate in order to secure a marriage of convenience with the eldest daughter of an impoverished family of suitable standing. Naturally, things go against his plan and the pair fall in love and live happily ever after!
I wasn’t sure quite what to expect with this pair but I liked both the main characters, I enjoyed how there was no major quarrels and no shrewish behaviour. The story flowed nicely and the easy way in which the temporary marriage became a real and lasting one.

All in all, this was a super enjoyable book with three deliciously bite-sized novellas to indulge in. If you’re looking to “test” the waters with regency romance then it’s a great sampler to begin with and if you’re a fan of the genre looking for some quick and lovely reads then it’s a must have.

This is a collection of very steamy historical romances. While I enjoyed the Day and Spencer nouvellas the best, I will admit there was not much of a story line to either since the majority of the writing involved the love scenes. If you are looking for an in depth storyline or characterization, these are not it. If you are looking for a quick, rev your engine afternoon read, then this arrangement may fit the bill.

I requested this book because I have become a big fan of Kristin Vayden, I like Sylvia Day and Minerva Spencer too but honestly I requested this three for one book/s because of her because even though I probably would have requested anyway, but honestly because of her and I have to say she saved it for me. I am going to say that I found it to just have too much sex, yup I said OH my! is she a prude, hell to the no, however that being said it just had some unnecessary scenes that could have been avoided and actually they could have dedicated that time and space getting to some more answers.. Yes you can pass the time and you will enjoy it, dont get me wrong I did but again Kristen saved the day for me..

Minerva Spencer’s portion was my favorite. She drew me right in and I was delighted to fall for a read of a new author to me. Her story was full of wit, delicious dialogue and romance! I am a huge Sylvia Day fan as well!
