The arrangement is a nice series of 3 novellas by 3 well renowned authors. I have read and enjoyed Sylvia Day's contemporary books but this was my introduction to historical works by all3 authors.

I'm not sure which I liked best but all three were entertaining.. I'm not typically a novella lover and I thought these were full length books when I read them. So all 3 don't have the character and plot development I prefer. However, I still enjoyed them and finished all 3 in one night.

I would say Kristen's book is the sweetest, I loved Brook and Diana, Out of the three, I think hers had the best character development. I think Jo from Minerva's book is my favorite heroine. The story is sexy and I'd loved this to be a full length novel. Sylvia's is the sexiest and has the most fulfilling ending in my opinion.

Definite recommendation for anyone who needs a quick dose for some excellent historical romance.

Enjoyable read of three short sensual stories, plus some excerpts of other books by the same authors.
All three short stories were really good. it's amazing to me that Sylvia Day can build the kind of chemistry between her main characters that she does with a story that short! Her story is very lusty -of course. That's a hallmark of her work! Both of the other two stories were about marriages of convenience and while complete, left me wanting more! Some of the excerpts did the same lol.
Fun read for fans of all three authors-Sylvia Day, Minerva Spencer and Kristin Vayden.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in return for my honest review.

This was a fun trio of “arranged” marriage stories. Each couple brought something different to the book. Some very unique/interesting takes on the usual organised marriage route. Plenty of laughs, beautiful imagery & a heat level I haven’t read in many HR reads. I was a very happy reader.

While I enjoyed them all I have to say Minerva Spencer’s story was my favourite.

I really enjoyed these 3 historical shorts of these authors I'm all familiar with. I actually missed reading some Sylvia's historical's, so this was a nice cleansing palette of the past few books I have read. All of these stories give a great glimpse of what each three of the these authors on what and how they write and plus there are some excerpts of 2+ chapters of some of their books. I'm looking forward to more!

GaH! And can I say I fell in love with this cover! The colors and pose, the cover artist got it right!

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington books for a copy of this to read and review. Honestly I had requested it because I have read other Sylvia Day books. I didn’t realize this is a collection of three novellas. While this was a surprise, it didn’t deter me from the book. I enjoyed all three stories and they were all a quick read. It was nice to read a story and finish it then be able to take a break in between stories. If you love romance books, I bet you will enjoy these!

The three stories in this book were very short on plot . I certainly don’t mind sex in my romance books, but I do expect some romance! The third story, by Kirstin Vayden, had the best balance of the collection.

With an exception here or there, I found this anthology to be filled with far too much sex, gaping areas of the plot left unexplored, and important pieces of the stories left unresolved. I am sure that others will enjoy these stories much better than I did, but in order to be fair, here is my review of the individual stories.

Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day
2/5 Stars
REVIEW: Based on just this novella alone, I am hesitant to continue on.

On one hand, the writing was strong, and the characters were interesting. But honestly? This story focused entirely way too much on these characters having sex than it did actually giving the reader a solid story.

We are given to believe that these two had a history together, so why not show us a bit more of that? We are told her husband died, but yet her son is called a bastard, why? What happened to her husband? There is a dinner party in which she becomes an "eccentric collector", and yet instead of watching this unfold, we are merely told before, and after the fact. Somehow, Justin manages to win over Sophie's son Thomas, but other than one little glimpse into their first meeting, we see none of this. Nor do we learn of any potential scandal or questions that they were so worried would come about when they married. There was so much potential here for a strong story, but sadly, I don't feel like we got out of the bedroom long enough to see any of it.

I'm sure there are those that will enjoy this story, but for me? I need a little plot to go with my sex, thanks.

The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer
3/5 Stars
REVIEW: Much like with the first novel, this one focuses too much on the sex between the characters instead of building up their relationship and tying up loose ends. Yes, I get it, they are sexually compatible, but that shouldn't be the focus on the relationship. How did he win over his wife? As a matter of fact, it's not until the epilogue that we even learn that he in fact not only fell in love with her, but told her as much. These are the little details I enjoy reading about.

Victoria was an easy character to dislike, but even that seemed to be a wasted opportunity. With the exception of a couple of encounters, she wasn't used to build the relationship, she wasn't even there to cast doubt on their marriage, or to cause trouble (although she tried, it was all easily brushed aside). It would have been more believable (especially with what Josie knew about Victora's prior relationship with her husband), if the woman managed to cast doubt in her mind, leading to more of a confrontation than just Beau saying "Oh that don't worry about that", and them tumbling back into bed.

Also, what was the point of Josie and Beau's visit to her dying father? It started as a tragically beautiful encounter, and we are later told that was the moment that Beau started to realize his feelings for his wife, but it just stops in mid-sentence and then picks up again at the epilogue. Again, missing an opportunity to make more of this novel.

Perhaps it is simply because this story, as the other was, and the next will be are novellas the authors have been trying to cram as much into a short span as they can? Whatever the reason, the writing itself was strong and flowed well, so I would read a full-length novel of this author's in the future to see how it compares.

REVIEW: Finally. A novella in this anthology that manages to balance just the right amount of story-line with the sex AND tie up all the loose ends as well. This was by far, my favorite of the three stories. I enjoyed watching this two interact with each other. Diana offers Brook something he has never before been given - true friendship. Without strings or expectations.

This was the one story that I could not put down, curious as I was to see how things would play out. Even when the "villain" of this story shows his true colors, it added to the plot instead of coming across as drama just for the sake of having it (although THANK YOU to this author for actually telling us how this one was resolved).

Sadly, I think this novella would have done better as a stand-alone instead of being the last in an anthology, but I am also just as sure that more people will enjoy the other stories more than I did. I would definitely read more from this author, however (and I hope to see more of these characters, her sisters perhaps? In other novels if they are not already published).

Always enjoy reading Sylvia Day and her latest did not disappoint. Going into this book, I did not realize it was a trio, but the book did a great job of being a stand alone. It is full of romance and will leave you wanting more. Definitely recommend.
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't realise that this was an anthology of 3 historical romances by 3 separate authors. It didn't put me off reading it though. Nice to read novellas for a change! I loved all the stories but Sylvia Day's was my favourite. Mischief and the Marquess - A cute friends to lovers story about 2 friends who grew up together and get a second chance. A beautiful story which I'm sure you will love too along with the other 2 novellas.
I did think the formatting/layout of the book could have been better.

This is a trio of erotic historical romances with previews of other works.

Mischief and the Marquess-Sylvia Day
A lusty story with an interesting plot. It was nice that the hero fought to marry the heroine with smarts.

The Duke's Treasure
OW drama made this contract marriage hard to swallow but the sexuality sizzles. I was impressed with the honesty-it saved the story.

The Inconvenient Countess
A marriage of convenience turns into more! Favorite out of all.

First two stories have crude language and biblical profanity.
I read a free ARC from Netgalley.

A great story with interesting characters, very hot intimate scenes and many moments when I had a smile on my face.
I’m not sure but I think it’s my first author’s read and will definitely read more because it ticked off all my boxes with the writing and story overall.

One of my favorite tropes is the marriage of convenience. Two individuals thrust into the wonders of marriage. It’s a weighty decision and both the hero and heroine need to have their own benefits of teaming up. With marriage comes sharing a home and often a bed. That can make for some pretty delectable tension. One of the reasons I love this trope is because the couples often enter the bargain with something completely different in mind than what actually happens. I love watching their relationship change and grow. All the discoveries they make about each other. The Arrangement gives us not one but three such journeys to falling in love.
The Duke’s Treasure by Minerva Spencer
Beaumont Hallewell, Duke of Wroxton has left his life as a soldier to become the new head of a large, demanding, and impoverished family. So impoverished, in fact, that he must marry. And so he finds himself marrying Josephine Loman sight unseen. Well, sight unseen for Beau. Jo has been enamored of Beau for five years. Ever since seeing him at countless balls and a week at a country house. Beau at the time was too enamored with someone else to even notice Jo. He may have overlooked her five years ago but there’s no overlooking her once they’re wed and he discovers there’s much more to Jo than meets the eye.
You can’t go wrong with a Minerva Spencer story and this one was my favorite of the three. Watching Beau and Jo’s relationship develop was absolutely sigh worthy. What a lovely well-developed short story. I loved the dialogues, the characters, and the chemistry between them.

An Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden
Charles Brook, Earl of Barrington was known as the Devil’s Bachelor for his rakish behavior. He never minded the moniker. Embraced it even. But if he wants to secure a much desired deal, he needs to find a wife. A respectable wife. Which was unlike what he usually spent time with. Neighbor Diana Lambson had 5 sisters, 1 mother, and a dying estate. Her father was gone and there was no money. She knew of Brook’s reputation but what he offered was hard to refuse. She might be buying her family’s freedom at the price of her own but Brook wasn’t expecting love and she wasn’t willing to give it. What they found was surprising. They actually liked each other. And the more they were together, the more that friendship grew.
A fabulous story by a new-to-me author. I adored Charles and Diana’s personalities. Yes, Charles was a rake but he was a genuinely kind person. And I love Diana’s strength. Both thought they had it all figured out as far as how their relationship would go. I loved every minute of the surprises that awaited them. I’m eager to read more by this author.

Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day
In youth, Justin had been enamored with Sophie but pride and caution had kept him from declaring his feelings outright. Sophie had mistaken his concern as chastisement and had felt intimidated by Justin. Now they are together again. Pawns in the matchmaking machinations of Justin’s mother and Sophie’s grandmother. They need to extricate themselves from their relatives’ schemes but that’s easier said than done when faced with the growing sensual awareness between them.
This story was a sizzling second chance romance rather than marriage of convenience. Lots of heat and humor in this one. I liked the second chance at love story but never understood what “scandal” of Sophie’s stood in their way. None of that was made clear. While I loved the heat in this story, I would have gladly sacrificed that for more plot.
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of The Arrangement. I enjoyed this anthology because I not only got to read two of my tried and true authors but I got to sample a new author as well. If you are a fan of steamy novellas, you won’t be disappointed with this one.

The Arrangement has three stories written by Sylvia Day, Minerva Spencer and Kristin Vayden.
4 stars!!

I really liked this collection of arranged marriages stories. Though they were not long each one told a very complete story. The hero and heroines were very likable and unique in their own way.

Sylvia Day's Mischief and the Marquess told the story of childhood friends who years later reunite thanks to the matchmaking interventions from their family. They had great chemistry together and when he confesses to her his feelings towards her, feelings he had since they were young, it was so sweet.

The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer was also a great read. These two were not happy with the idea of getting married. Josephine's father arranged the marriage to Beaumont, Duke of Wroxton. Beau is your typical arrogant duke who likes to get his way, but Josephine is good at questioning his behavior and attitude. I did like that he was always honest with her and from early on in their marriage he does tell her that he sees in her a companion and lover. Though with time their feelings for each other became deeper and made their HEA a very sweet one.

An Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden was my favorite of the three. This one pays more attention to the romance between Diana and Brook, Earl of Barrington. Brook marries Diana because of a business transaction that he wants to do, which as a bachelor is out of the question, She needs money to help support her sisters and her mother. They have chemistry from day one and I liked how they became friends. I liked how they communicated with each other and were honest with each other. There was not much drama between them and though she came from the country and humble beginnings she was able to stand for herself. Brook did defend her and stood by her till the end. So sweet!

I highly recommend this collection of stories!

This book is 3 different stories, each written by a different author. All are historical, set in Britain.
Mischief and The Marquess by Sylvia Day
Justin and Sophie knew each other as teenagers. About ten years later, Justin is a Marquess and Sophie is widowed with a young son. Their mothers arrange a visit so they can get re-acquainted, but it is an aim at match-making. Sophie feels they be no more than friends as her situation as a mother is not a suitable wife for a Marquess. Justin throws all caution to the wind as he admits it’s always been Sophie. She’s the standard he held all other women to. This story is a steamy romance with much detail to the sex scenes. Fans of Sylvia Day will recognize her writing.

The Duke’s Treasure by Minerva Spencer
Josephine enjoys a good life. She lives with her father, a very wealthy businessman. Her father is dying. He arranges for her to marry a Beau, a Duke. Beau needs money to support his family properties. His deceased brother, the previous a Duke, lost most of the family’s money through gambling. After the wedding, Beau promises her father he will keep Jo away from his deathbed and moves her to the country estate. Victoria, his brother’s widow arrives and upheaval ensues. can this new marriage survive the turmoil? There are some very poignant scenes between Beau and Jo with great compassion, understanding and love.

The Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden
Brook, the Earl of Barrington, is in a pickle. He needs a wife to restore his reputation and seal a real estate deal. He retreats to his country estate where he learns the estate next to his is for sale. He approaches the house hoping to speak with the widow who owns it. Instead, he encounters the eldest daughter who refuses to sell. He later approaches her with a contract: marry him, sell him the estate, her mother and sisters are provided for, provide an heir. Will he get the real estate deal he desperately wants? Diana surprises him as a wife. She is not the mousy girl he thought she was. Will their relationship endure?

I enjoyed all 3 of these stories. They are historical fiction with red-hot romance. 🔥🔥🔥The stories are well-written and plausible. If you’ve read any of these authors, or enjoy this genre, don’t miss this one,

The Arrangement
Mischief and the Marquess by Sylvia Day is a refreshing, fun, and scorching read all in one! 5 Stars
Justin, the Marquess of Fontaine, and Lady Sophie Milton-Riley, had known each other when they were younger. Both Justin and Sophie, now widowed, knew their reintroduction after so many years, was a matchmaking scheme in the making. Justin’s outward demeanor was always serious but under all of that was someone deeply in love with the reckless and vivacious Sophie. Sophie’s impulsive, daring, and mischievous behavior always got her into trouble and ultimately cost her her reputation, but it gave her a son. Now that she knew what her grandmother and best friend were up to, she knew she had to save the Justin she remembered and cared so much about, from a life of ruin and ostracism by the ton by association.
This is a deliciously steamy “second chance at love” story that is guaranteed to set off the smoke detectors! It’s a great story that grabs and holds your attention with a witty dialogue, some humor, great characters, and a five alarm romance that leaves nothing to the imagination. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I’m a fan.
Happy Reading♥️

The Arrangement
The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer. I Loved, Loved, Loved it!Jo and Beau’s story is an exciting and beautifully written steamy treasure... What some might presumptuously expect to be “just another typical Historical Romance” will be surprised and delighted to find this story to be anything but!
Jo and Beau are the most unlikely couple but with the Dukedom in desperate need of money along with the pressure to honor the broken marriage contract from Beau’s brother, the prior Duke 5 years ago, doesn’t leave him a choice other than to marry the unremarkable but wealthy merchant’s daughter. The cleverly plotted storyline is charming, sassy, heartbreaking, witty, and humorous, with great attention to detail, great character development, and a smoking hot romance, with a HEA. This is everything I look for in great historical romance.
The writing and the characters are so engaging and descriptive that I found myself riveted and happily lost within the scorching hot love story.
I recommend this story to everyone who loves a well written historical romance, and is not afraid of a red hot romance that can leave you with a tantalizing sunburn! This is my third story read by this author and I’m a big fan, and excited to read more of her work!
Happy Reading♥️

I enjoyed this book. The high tempered bride and the groom that is more of a dictator. Who will will the battle. Can they come to terms and enjoy a marriage of convenience or will love abound? A virgin and sexual deviant. She watched him have sex 5 years ago and has lusted after him all that time. This is a great quick read.

An Anthology of three novels: Mischief and Marquess by Sylvia Day, The Duke's Treasure by Minerva Spencer and The Inconvenient Countess by Kristin Vayden.

I enjoyed all three stories. The first has the hero's relative and the heroine's godmother pushing them to get together. Sophie was a wild child and having been engaged, anticipated her vows only for her fiancee to die. The hero's mother tells him some home truths which he'd rather he didn't know but this made me smile and was evocative of the fun narrative. The passion was there and Sylvia's writing is always great.

The second story I'd read before and like another reviewer I was a little confused when it started on chapter 2. I thought this might have been because I read my books on my ancient kindle. Hopefully any errors in formatting would be sorted before publication. I liked the heroine in this story. She's practical and not afraid to stand up for herself. Her hero is so beautifully sexual. He relishes his physicality and is caring enough to ensure our heroine has a good time. I really liked the back story about her father's machinations and how Beau has to resolve his honorable intentions.

The third story was the least favorite but it's still an excellent read. The hero this time is a rogue with a poor reputation who enters an arrangement with our heroine. He gets a lovely bride and the option of some real estate he's been hankering after, she gets safety for her family. I liked how she became his friend and they could really communicate. She wasn't all coy and manipulative but treated him honestly and thus he came out from behind a facade he hadn't realised he projected and we got a lovely HEA.

I think you'd really enjoy these three stories and I heartily recommed them!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I highly recommend this anthology. Three exceptional writers share the theme of arranged marriages. There is some pain, humor and not exactly an easy path to an HEA. Great epilogues. Day's novella was published in 2007 and works in with the other two new ones. If you haven't read any books by these authors you're definitely missing out on some good reading.

So, I know this was just three short stories, but I really think that I don't like short stories and am not sure why I keep trying to read them. I felt like all of these stories didn't really go anywhere for. I am obsessed with Sylvia Day and love almost everything she writes. I am not sure why I didn't like this. Maybe because it was a timely piece and not the modern writing that I am use to. I thought, if she is in a collection then the other authors, I would love just as much as her, but that was not the case at all. I didn't like the writing style of the other two authors. I feel like I am not being fair and I may just not like this type of story as far as time and style.
