I love Katie’s books and I’ve read quite a few, but I’m sorry to say I was a little disappointed in this one. I didn’t quite understand the point of Leo’s character and I thought Gilly’s son and daughter in law’s idea was very selfish. The story ended quite abruptly and didn’t feel like it was finished. The ending seemed a little far fetched to me without giving away any spoilers. I would look out for another one of Katie’s books and this one wouldn’t put me off. Thank you for accepting my request.
I am a big Fan of Katie Fforde and this definitely reached my expectations. Probably one of my favourites from this author. Admittedly its been sitting on my netgalley shelf for far too long. However, once I began reading and got into it I couldn't put it down! Love the romance between all the different characters and the surprises along the way.
🌟 Angst, slow burning romance, a baddy & family drama ....the perfect ingredients for a fab read.
🌟 This was absolutely delightful, I didn't want to put it down.
🌟 Well written & developed characters will have you rooting for them from the start.
🌟 Laughter, anger & ultimately that was fuzzy feeling.
🌟 Forget the worlds troubles & curl up with this pitch perfect cosy read.
You know what you are going to get with Katie Fforde and this doesn't diappoint. All the main characters are well drawn and you care about what happens to them even while knowing it will all end well. A very enjoyable light read.
Another lovely warmhearted book by this author, great characters that draw you in from the first pages and an easy light storyline to follow makes it a page turner.
I love Katie Ffordes books - but I just wanted the women in this to be a bit stronger at times, and take charge more.
A Katie Fforde book set in the spring is perfect for these dark, February days.
This author always seems to write books that draws me in from the first few pages with characters who are realistic but always with enough reality to stop them from becoming silly.
Always enjoyable and always highly recommended.
What better way to avoid all the doom and gloom than to read a Katie Fforde book and one full of bright, optimism and spring cheer.
Spring always heralds new beginnings and it is no different it seems for mother and daughter Gilly and Helena.
Gilly is happy with running her bespoke B & B she enjoys the work and meeting people and embraces the little touches that make her establishment stand out from the rest - like homemade shortbread! Leo though arrives in her life rather unexpectedly and his chosen career of estate agent might come in useful if Gilly decides to move on.
Helena is about to lose her home and whilst she knows that she can go home, her weaving loom does take up rather a lot of room. When a chance encounter to help new landlord Jago leads to some interesting events, it seems that Jago is a chance encounter worth pursuing.
In the meantime, Helena's brother Martin and obsessive wife Cressida have other ideas about how Gilly should be spending her days. They seem rather in conflict in the way Gilly wants to spend them. Helena is also struggling to see the image of her mother that Martin is trying to portray.
Surely the new blossoms of spring will come to fully bud and the dead weeds will disappear forever?
This is a joyous book which takes you through family dynamics and new love. Added to this is the delicious recipes of Gilly and the wonderful creations of Helena's weaving which make this a true Katie Fforde book.
This was a delightful story with people coping with what life throws at them and making something which everyone can enjoy. Some really appealing characters and a storyline that couldn't put down.
A lovely story that carries you along with the hope that it will end well. Definitely recommended to those readers who enjoy reading this type of book.
I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.
I love Katie Fforde's novels, they are like a Mum hug in book form, guaranteed to make you feel better and warm inside. Also I always learn something new from them, in this case, I now feel much more informed about weaving, which I always feel is an added bonus and I love a happy ending especially in these challenging times so this novel is pretty much perfect. Highly recommend, especially if you need a bit of a lift.
Loved this book, yet another great Katie Fforde book. Different storylines and relationships are explored and it’s fun to try and be one step ahead to guess the outcome. Easy to read and follow with characters you grow to love or hate. Thanks Katie and NetGalley.
Nice, heartwarming escapism, but not my favourite. I wasn't in love with the characters this time and found some of it quite unconvincing. It just didn't gel with me this time but I'm sure I'll read Katie Fforde again in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
