.I enjoyed this book so much! Such a wonderful and informative book!

Lisa Steele, shows you in a very creative way how to build what you need to be a chicken keeper so you can have a chicken coop with happy chickens.

The book is full of interesting and easy DIY projects to get you started and to keep you going on the right track to a life of raising your chickens.

This book was given to me by Netgalley for my professional opinion as a librarian.

I liked this one, and I admit I reviewed it for personal reasons, to learn more for my little backyard chicken flock. I came away with a few ideas to add to my little coop. The pictures were great, and the projects were some I hadn't thought about! I love Lisa Steele, and her blog, so it was fun to come up with a few projects I could use! I highly recommend for anyone with chickens!

Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy.

DIY Chicken Keeping Projects from Fresh Eggs Daily is a new tutorial and project book for DIY enthusiasts by Lisa Steele. This is a nice follow up to her last DIY chicken hacks book and a fun addition to the flock-keeper's library. Due out 11th Feb 2020 from Quarto on their Quarry imprint, it's 160 pages and will be available in paperback format.

The logical format is appealing and easy to understand. The author has a breezy chatty style of writing that is more conversational and encouraging than dry and strictly instructional. Reading the book felt more like a cup of tea and long chat with a good friend than a classroom lecture. That really appealed to me. The introduction includes some background for writing the book which segues into a discussion of tools and supplies and safety.

The projects are roughly grouped thematically: quick & easy, handy/labor saving, pallet projects/upcycling, and weekend projects. The projects are rated by difficulty (1-3 eggs) and include an introduction, materials & tools lists (in US standard measures), pictures and tutorial directions. Many of them also include extra tips in colored sidebars. The instructions are well written and easy to follow.

The photography is very clear and full of lovely, appealing, and healthy chickens. There's a useful resource list (aimed mostly at North American readers) and a handy index at the back of the book.

Well written and appealing. Would make a nice gift for a beginning backyard chicken-herder (or soon-to-be).

Five stars.

A great resource book that has filled in many of the gaps in my chicken raising venture. I'm a novice but there are many sections that would be of help to those with more knowledge than I have. This is just an all around good book to share.

Liked the concept but sadly couldn’t open the file. Tried several different formats and couldn’t make them work. Revised: was finally able to find a way to open it on my computer (not the kindle or Ipad though). A cute and easy book for a DIY person. Geared for women, but still would be doable for anyone. Quite a few ideas on small projects to make for chickens, and would be a handy reference book. Would recommend.

DIY Chicken Keeping from Fresh Eggs Daily by Lisa Steele was a breath of fresh air! New to owning chickens and loVing every minute of owning two little crackers called Gertie and Ruby they have been spoilt. I loVed making a few things for them and they love the homemade swing and feeding station/dolly I made for them. I did make the boot tree stand It came out great and very handy for my Wellies.....Now I need to make another one for my Hubby's boots, as he nicked my stand for his boots now! lol
Looking forward making more things for them next year, especially as I found it easy to make and follow throughout the amazing illustrations throughout this wonderful book.
You will also find other brilliant things to make etc for your chickens and its packed with wonderful ideas to make for your home as well throughout this book.

I highly recommend this book......It is colourful with great illustrations throughout and so easy to follow, especially as you may have some of the materials within your home.

Big Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry and Netgalley for letting me read and review this wonderful book. A must for any Chicken Lover!

This is the perfect book for anyone who is starting out raising small flocks of chickens! If you have an established coop, this is still a good book because there are still some projects you may not have. The projects range from necessary for your coop to cute additions that make any coop chic and functional. There are so many projects for chickens and chicks that range from really easy to needs a little more effort all the way to repurposing a shed or playhouse. There is information about tools used, tools for a toolbox, metric conversions, materials used, and resources for materials. I love the photos throughout and gave me tons of ideas for my coop! I can't gush enough about how perfect this book is.

This was a fun and interesting DIY book. It had some great sections for the projects that made sense, such as quick and easy, handy, pallet and weekend. A lot of the projects looked quite fun, such as chick roosting bar, swinging bench, feeding station and roadside egg stand. The instructions were easy to follow as well.

This book is so much fun, but it helps if you have the tools to make the projects, as well as chickens to make the projects for.

But, if you have both, you are good to go.

The directions are quite clear. The projects are fun for both you and your chickens, and make it into more than just a generic coop. Plus, you give your chickens something to do, such as a swing in the coop, or a mirror, or a place to hide when the hawks show up looking for a little dinner.

Well written, clear, and fun. What else can you ask for in a combination for a book.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
