The relationship between humans and robots have always been highly explored in the world of science fiction and fantasy fiction genres. As technologies vastly improves over time, this scenario has potential to turn into reality. The author paints the lead character Eric as a skeptic who gets converted gradually after making friends with a humanised robot Arvin, also Eric’s non-human client in his role as a therapist. This leads to the idea or question of whether humanised robots have emotions and what separates them from being human.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found it difficult to put down. Due to the nature of the genre that the story falls in, I find it acceptable that there are logical fallacies as the author attempts to create an AI-inspired universe. Looking forward to a follow-up book; I am anticipating knowing about Eric’s life especially in the counselling and interactions between humans and humanoids. Strangely, I started being reminiscent of the days of reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and am looking forward to picking that book up again.

This novel has an interesting theme: what makes us human? Are we better than IAs or will they surpass us in everything, even in the moral sphere? Much of the story takes place in a virtual universe called L.A. Confidential in the 1960s. This novel is a kind of futuristic investigative novel.

Apart from this enticing synopsis, the story is not as deep as it seems. Just because Alvin is portrayed as a sympathetic humanoid eager to save human lives doesn't mean that future humanoids and AI will be good for all of us humans.

However, this book could be an interesting read for young readers who are new to this genre of literature. Note, however, that the main character, Dr. Ryan, a psychologist by profession, travels through the virtual world under the guise of a beautiful woman.

I therefore give Displaced 3 stars.

Dimply outstanding! What a ride-I could not out this book down. This is the first book of Mark Anthony’s novel, “Displaced”. It is fresh, imaginative, enjoyable & it is sure to be a huge hit!

While the style of prose seemed rather nondescript, the idea of the story compelled me to stay with the story. While I am not sure how I felt about the ending, the journey was interesting.

I really liked this, great story, well developed characters and not hard to follow or understand. I would be very interested in a follow up book.

Not sure if this is hard or speculative scifi, but it's quite good. Imaginative plot, interesting characters, and realistic tech and scenarios make this an engaging read. I hope there is a sequel. Recommended for scifi fans.

The book setting is in the future. A word that is full of technology and a main character who doesn't get along with that. It's an extremely interesting setting and the world is very realistic. Overall, I find the book very well done. From the first page you dive right into the story. I also like the cover a lot. It is attractively designed, both in terms of color choice as well as the subject. The writing style is' extremely pleasant to read. The book has been clearly structured and the plot is told comprehensible and very exciting. The characters are very well conceivable and look authentic and comprehensible. In this way, the scenery, characters, surroundings and emotions are presented in detail and as a reader you are fascinated. In terms of content, this story is consistent and despite rather calm narrative style, the tension keeps its level well.
