I don't read many memoirs, but I did enjoy this one! I liked the essay format and found myself intrigued by the "cult" perspective that Korn took. Some parts of the book were repetitive, but overall, it was enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book but it was not what I expected; I didn't feel super connected to the author and everything felt a little whiny.

Definitely liked the parts when Korn discusses observations from working in her industry but didn’t enjoy the parts about her own life as much. Could’ve worked better as a nonfiction book about the former.

This covered so many relevant topics and needs to be discussed more. It was refreshing to take a look at the things in the beauty industry that is not always seen at surface level.

Unfortunately, this one took me forever to read. It felt drug out. I did think that her story was great and heartfelt, it just could've been condensed. I would recommend this to others that really enjoy nonfiction and memoirs, but not to those who prefer fiction as it was kind of boring.

This is great book full of everyday issues. That made it an interesting read. The authors writing style made it an easy and fast read.

thank you to the publisher for gifted copy.

I didn’t know anything about Gabrielle Korn going into this book and I enjoyed reading about her career and life leading up to it. While I did enjoy reading Everyone (else) is Perfect, I felt it was a bit too long. I really resonated with certain chapters, then found myself skimming another which talked about a similar topic.

Really liked reading this memoir. As someone that is incredibly ambitious and career-oriented, my favourite parts were about how the author was able to climb up to a position of power at such a young age. But her story also allowed me to think inwardly about company culture, burnout, and diversity in the workplace and brand. I also loved how inclusive and open/raw this book was. Touching on relationships, eating disorders, and assault, I applaud the author for sharing their story.

As someone who has never read Nylon and doesn't know Korn from her previous magazine work, I was surprised by how relatable and enjoyable I found these essays. Korn does a good job of acknowledging her privilege, even when she's not always able to see past it. This collection started off strong, but ended up a bit too repetitive where it felt like each essay was discussing the same points.

Thanks to Atria and Netgalley for my copy to review.

Gabrielle Korn is an immensely interesting person, and this book is a collection of essays about the fact that people living glamorous lives may not always be as happy as they seem on the surface. I enjoyed her perspective on her challenges throughout her career.

Such an interesting and important topic in the age of social media. It would make a great conversation starter for a book club!

Whew! This was a heavy book, but I really enjoyed it. It touched on homophobia, sexism, racism, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and who can forget mental health issues. It was a lot to read, but I found myself really learning so much about the publishing industry and about her own personal life.

This was a good one! In the era of social media and wanting to show a highlight reel of our lives, this book is important! As a therapist, I work with a lot of younger aged women and some of the primary themes I work with are imposter syndrome, anxiety, comparisons, and feeling "less than" when compared to their peers. I love the raw insight tis book gives. I have followed the author on instagram myself and like the messages and values she puts out.

This is a really honest and relatable memoir in essays. Although I liked it more in the beginning and started to lose interest a little bit after the first 20%, overall I would still recommend it. Just hearing about a queer person in fashion and so high up in media is fascinating.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I hoped I would. Probably more of a case of timing for me, than anything "wrong" with the book.

This book could have talked more about the topics that it cut short. But all and all it was a pleasant read, as someone who works in marketing and advertising per se, I did connect to a lot of different aspects of this book.

As someone who's struggled with perfectionism I love this book! Korn confronts tough subjects in a thoughtful way. Each essay left me with something to think about. Sometimes I needed to take a break to sit with the emotions her writing brought up, which is not a bad thing. And the way the book is organized into stand-alone chapters made it easy to dive back in when I was ready. I would highly recommend this book to a friend!

Korn does a beautiful job of tackling even the ugliest memories with complete honesty. Perhaps a little young for me now, but my 22-year-old self would have clung to this book like a life raft.

I'm not usually one for biographies or memoirs, but this book was a quick and fairly interesting read. Gabrielle Korn is a good writer and I was particularly fascinated by the parts of this book where she pulled back the curtain on an industry that is so foreign to me. I saw one reader say they feel they aren't her target audience, but I feel like I might be fairly close to the target. I pretty much agreed with her take on everything.

The only real negative was how much she time she spent on her eating disorder. At first I was really interested, but it did come up a lot and by the end.. it felt like too much time was spent on that one aspect of her life. It's an important part of her story and I'm glad she was so vulnerable and open about it, but it just felt like some of it could have been cut, that's all.

I guess there was one other *slight* negative for me, which is that the timeline was all over the place. We would go forward in her story, only to whoosh right back to a time we had already heard about and then spring forward again, on and on. I was able to keep the timeline straight, but it was a bit of a chore to read it that way, when it could easily have been a more linear timeline.

I overall enjoyed this book and wouldn't dissuade anyone from reading it, and I would read another book by Gabrielle Korn in the future.

Thanks to #Netgalley and #Atria for the ARC of #EverybodyElseIsPerfect in exchange for my honest review.
