Amy and Ellis are busy women, they're committed to their jobs, and haven't had time to date, much less have sex, in ages. They meet on a dating app and agree to meet on Thursday afternoons for casual sex and casual sex only. But their jobs end up throwing them together in real life and their casual Thursday afternoon's are out of the question. Neither woman can deny their attraction and how much they've come to mean to each other but their jobs put that relationship in a conflict of interest. Will their professional lives take priority once again, or will the two women at last find happiness in their personal lives as well?

This has to be one of my favourites of Tracey Richardson. The chemistry was off the charts and I love how the author really drew out the tension and the chemistry between them despite the early consumption of their relationship. I loved the whole community in Erie Shores, this whole book was such a feel good story all around with so many little side romances. I loved the balance between the workplace happenings, the romance, and the drama. The communication between our two leading ladies was really strong. And the chemistry, I have to applaud the chemistry one last time.

I'd never considered this side of our healthcare system, so in addition to enjoying the romance and the drama, it also ended up being a thought provoking read. It was also a nice way to go back to Southwestern Ontario for a visit through a book!

I’m a big Tracy Richardson fan so when I saw this book was coming out I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it...and I was not disappointed.
Amy Spencer is a surgeon in a small town where she grew up. She loves her family, friends, and is loyal to the hospital she works for and the citizens that it serves...however she is lonely and decides to use an app to find a friendly, no-strings attached, hookup.
Ellis Hall is also looking for the same thing. She’s never been in love and the one serious relationship she had she ran away from because she didn’t want to be tied down to parenting. What was suppose to be a one time thing becomes a weekly Thursday Afternoon getaway that both women look forward too....However that all changes when the real world collides and they both discover the truth about each other.
Ellis is an advisor that hospital boards bring in to make changes and cuts and unknowingly will begin working at Amy’s hospital. The promise of Thursday Afternoons is shattered when these two strong willed women face off with each other, one to save the hospital she loves and the other simply trying to do her job that she was hired to do.
The chemistry from the moment these two meet was off the charts and although they are now at odds they can’t help wanting to just be back to their Thursday Afternoons.
This was a fast read for me because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It started out somewhat nice when it was just the two of them. But then I got to know the supporting characters like Kate and Erin and I kinda started rooting for Amy to end up with Erin. I just didn’t feel the chemistry between Ellis and Amy.. Ellis and Amy felt kinda boring and flat, I was mostly annoyed with them.
I’m kinda tired of reading stories with a sad/tragic love background, stories where they sneak around cause if they’re found out it could hurt their career. The stories where they should not be together but end up breaking that promise time and time again.
Is every single person in this book gay?! It might just be me but I hate it in books when everyone is gay, the neighbor, the twin sister, the parents, the stepdaughter, the janitor.
I just want something new and exciting.
The story is written good but I just don’t feel it. On the plus side, it’s short.

After reading many mysteries/thrillers recently, I was happy to get back into the romance genre and hope for an enjoyable read. Thursday Afternoons did not disappoint… it was a very entertaining read.

Both main characters, Amy and Ellis, were career driven women and very successful in their field. But they needed a period of time to forget the outside world and connect with someone on a physical level without commitments or responsibilities. After they met through an app, they arranged to meet at a hotel every Thursday afternoon. This was the highlight of their week and both eventually felt a greater need to go beyond the physical nature of their relationship. But as per their arrangement, they kept their personal lives, including their jobs and families, off limits. Unbeknownst to both women, these limits would soon expire as Amy and Ellis’ outside world took preference over their Thursday afternoons.

Ellis was hired by the CEO of the Erie Shores Hospital’s regional corporation as a financial consultant to get rid of the hospital’s deficit budget and make changes that appeared to be most beneficial for its future survival. Amy, as chief of surgery at Erie Shores, knew that any cuts could have a significant impact on life and death situations for the people in her hometown. Ellis and Amy, once lovers, now became adversaries.

This was a well written and interesting story. It was also very heartwarming because it offered hope in so many ways. It offered hope to Amy to heal from a past relationship that was emotionally and mentally draining. It offered hope to Ellis to overcome past relationship mistakes and selfish acts. It offered hope to a teenager who felt lost and unwanted after her mother’s death. It offered hope to Kate to love again after the loss of her wife to cancer. Even though the characters had very strong opinions on what was best for the hospital, sometimes bordering on nastiness, they continued to feel an underlying hope for the hospital situation as well as their personal one.

Besides the hospital problems, there were other realistic issues that the characters faced such as aging parents, dementia, and guardianship. These issues added another layer of emotional depth to this already engaging story.
Overall, this was a great read!

When I want a light, fun romance, I know that a Tracey Richardson book will deliver. In Thursday Afternoons she provides the sizzling chemistry between the two protagonists -- Amy and Ellis that I expect from her stories. I love the internal angst of Amy and Ellis and the teasing banter between these two as they confront their feeling for each other. The story is more tightly written than some of her previous books, and for this reason, the read is fast and engaging. The secondary characters -- Mia (Ellis' stepdaughter), Erin (Amy's resident), and Kate (Amy's best friend) provide additional layers of storyline. Richardson always adds some political subplot to her books; this story no different, adding the challenges faced by local full-service hospitals. In this, the subplot reminds me of Radclyffe's River Family Romance Series.

The blurb is a good lead-in to what this storyline is based on, so interested readers should not be swayed by it's context. That said, my brief opinion about this book is more of what i think or felt after getting to the last sentence.
In a nutshell, I think what Ms.Richardson tried weaving as the basis for much of this storyline was that there are some people with a longing to be significant. They want to make a contribution to society, to be part of something noble & purposeful and to have or make good choices for others. But then there are many others who wrongly believed that being of significance is unattainable in order to get things done the right way plus even having good choices it might seem as a terrible thing. They are also worrisome of any new choices or rules being too drastic to achieve. That their ideas alone are amazing that it's only about having lots of money or be in power to make any real changes/differences. Along with this perspective was an added bonus of a few developing relationships;- the two leads, their families that had many issues and a few secondary characters around this hospital.
Being an opponent with her (Amy) own ideas with strongarm tactics towards the one person that the hospital board of directors sent in to do an overview of the same hospital that you worked at was not a good thing for their growing friendship but in the end all Ellis wanted was to be understood because she did have the hospital's outcome and interest at heart.
Furthermore, for interested readers, the good news is during this whole storytelling none of the stuff happening mattered or was it necessary having this hospital oversight in order for them (Ellis, Amy & Co.) to achieve their quota --- either side had to have good intentions, admit mistakes and be sacrificial because no matter what, it had to get done.

Ellis aka Ellen and Amy aka Abby meets every Thursday for no string attached sex.

It's seems to be the only time they get to breath because both their lives are a bit of a mess.

Their lives collide when Ellis is sent to Audit the hospital where Amy works also because both are going to to be living in the same town. Ellis is also dealing with her step daughter sort of Mia when she begins to get into trouble and her grandparents doesn't know what to do. Amy dealing with a fail relationship with her ex Lisa at least she has her best friend Kate who still mourning her wife death and also trying to moving on with another that works with them Erin.

I like this read but I was also getting piss at Amy at the way she treating Ellis because she there to do her job that she not even trying to give Ellis a chance to do her job and just assume Ellis was going to ruin things. I wanted Ellis cut her losses when she trying to be adult about this and Amy acting like a child I hate when people get mad for doing their job like it's there fault and Ellis wanted to scream it's not her fault and I wish she would everytime someone giving her the look or saying a snide remark.
