Any time I can teach my son while we read adorable books it is a win win. This was so cute and so educational. My little guy now wants to go searching for sleeping animals even though I've told him we can't. He was really interested in the images and actively engaging in the story.
Lovely illustrations and adorable "back matter" make this a great nonfiction board book for very young children.
This is a cute story about hibernating animals. It takes place in a forest and shows eight different animals in their homes/burrows etc. and what it will look like when they wake up. Absolutely gorgeous illustrations full of colour and detail. The simple text explains what the animals are doing and what they wake up to. I love this little story and think it would make a great bedtime book as well as a good story to use when teaching about hibernation. A great addition to a family library.
This is an adorable way to teach young children about nature! Hibernation is a difficult topic to teach sometimes and this story does simply and easily!
Goodnight, Forest is a cute book for little readers. Our children loved reading this book and still read it nightly!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So cute. A great book for teaching in preschool classes or for parents and their children at home. Adorable pictures to go along with a child's first knowledge about hibernation.

This book was very cute and would be enjoyable for younger kids. It seems to be a very good nighttime/bedtime storybook. I read it to my daughter but she is 8 years old and she said she liked the artwork and I found it enjoyable too, but there was nothing else that interested her in the book. I felt there was something missing to tie it up nicely, but sadly I can't pinpoint what that is. (Sorry) I do like that it shows kids the different species of books that can hibernate and that it explains what hibernating is for younger children.

Goodnight, Forest is a book all about hibernating animals. The illustrations in Goodnight, Forest are beautiful! The colors and the pictures were my favorite part. I think my toddler would also love looking at the illustrations.
While the illustrations kept my attention, the wording of the book didn't flow easily to me. It's not a book I could see my toddler wanting to read over and over or being able to repeat the words like she does with other books.
Even with the great illustrations, I don't think this would be a must have book for me.
This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
I requested and received an advanced reading copy of this book from NetGalley.
I liked the illustrations in this book, the colours were beautiful and the images would be appealing to small children. The book itself was quite simple and could be used to teach small children how to read.
It was not my favourite children's book but I would borrow it from a library and read it with or to a small child.

Goodnight, Forest was an adorable children's book that helped kids to understand the sleeping patterns and habit of different types of animals. It was a very cute book that made it fun for kids and the pictures were also adorable. I enjoyed the vibrant colors and the lyrical way the book was written. I think young kids are going to love this book before bedtime!
This is a children's book about animals sleeping in the forest and when they would wake up. Overall, it was a good book but not one I could see reading to my young children over and over again. The illustrations are colorful and dazzling, but the wording did not flow smoothly.

Cute illustrations, but nothing I haven't seen before as far as the text goes. It is similar to many other books about hibernation, and unfortunately, the illustrations aren't enough to set it apart.
This delightful board book created by the author of "Goodnight Seahorse" is a wonderful introduction to hibernation as ten different forest critters prepare for "bed."
The illustrations are colourful and engaging. The author has included at the end of book a segment: "Animals of the Forest. Some animals hibernate when winter comes. They sleep until spring and wake up when it is warm again. " It is a nice wrap up of the ones documented in the story and useful for identification purposes after the story has been shared. A wonderful book to include in a primary classroom collection or in a school library.
I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. This is a gorgeous books about forest animals getting ready for bed. Beautiful illustrations really make the book.
I think this was be sweet as a board book. It’s nothing new (goodnight, nature) but the colors are nice.
Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This short picture book has beautiful art but is not strong on science. The book features 10 animals, insects and other creatures hibernating with a couple of lines about each.
Dream peacefully, queen bee, safe in the tree stump.
Wake up when the flowers are blooming.
Several times when I was reading this to my daughter, the science seemed wrong. For instance, the bears are shown hibernating together with what seems to be a mama, two young cubs, and one yearling or older cub. My understanding is that bears chase off their young before mating because the males will often kill them. Once the mother has chased them off (typically at about a year and a half, I believe), she won't have anything to do with them again. While she may hibernate with a yearling, she would not have two different ages of cubs with her since during mating she would have to be solitary already. It looks nice to have a whole "bear family" hibernating, but that just wouldn't happen as far as I know.
The bees were another instance. I didn't think bees hibernated in tree stumps and looked it up, and most hibernate in the the soil, in hives, or in other structures. It looks like carpenter bees might hibernate in a tree stump, but they are all black and not black and yellow like the bee pictured.
Also, the animals are all shown emerging in what looks like full on summer, with green grass everywhere and flowers blooming.
Some could say this is just a picture book and it doesn't need to be very accurate, but I prefer to teach my kids correct science from the start. These images stay with kids as they grow and form the basis of their formation of their knowledge about science topics, so I would prefer to see a little more accurate depictions. And it may be that the author/illustrator (I think it is one person) knows more than I do about these topics, but so little information is given (even the end pages only summarize that some animals "sleep until spring and then wake up again") that it doesn't seem likely.
Still, this is a lovely book with beautiful art. Kids are likely to enjoy it.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
This is a cute little board book about hibernating animals. The spare text and appealing pictures make this a book that will likely be enjoyed again and again by the youngest of readers. There's a little explanation about hibernation at the end, but for the most part, the concept is shown through the illustrations and text.
Recommended to young children, especially those who like books about animals.
I absolutely love the illustrations in this adorable book. It’s a great way for little ones to learn about many animals that hibernate. A really cute read!
