this was a really good read, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I really enjoyed the first book in the series as well.
Inman's writing style does not appeal to me. Characters and plot lack depth and the themes overpowered the novel (arguably the author's intent, but not something that appeals to me).
His Eye is on the Sparrows and I Know He Watches Me
“The Shadows Come” is a continuation of the story of Prentis and Avery and their son Jack. A young farming couple starting a life together in a small town in rural Oklahoma.
The must withstand a miscarriage, an ability to have no further children, the war and their friends, relatives and other’s that perish fighting in the war to end all wars, WWI. On top of the war comes along the Spanish flu epidemic which takes more loved ones. Tornados and vicious rumors Bryan embittered church lady cause them more heartache and test their faith.
Because of their love, and their faith in God they are able to face the hard times that they meet and to become stronger in their love and their faith. This is a beautiful story about strong, faithful people. I highly recommend this book as well as the first book.
Thanks to Melinda Viergever Inman, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book.
