I requested and received an advanced reading copy of this book from NetGalley.

The illustrations in this book are beautiful, each page is like a new watercolour painting just drawing you in. The story is one of hope; hope that if we all work together, we can make anything happen including helping a butterfly fly or finding a cure for rare diseases.

My favorite line is “I am different from all other butterflies, and I always will be, but I don’t care – all I want to do is fly”.

A simple book about a butterfly who isn't like the rest. With help from his friends, new wings are created. The illustrations are truly beautiful.

A warm story of failed expectations and the unique role of friends and neighbors in working to make real the hopes of those afflicted with disabilities and other limiting conditions.

On a personal note, we’re cheering Sohana on from Utah!

Binkle's Time to Fly is an inspiring story about the beauty of being different.

In the story, you meet Binkle, He is a brand new butterfly, but his wings don't seem to work right. He came out of his cocoon, and Binkle quickly realized that his wings had holes. He was too weak to even fly.

Devasted by his new understanding, Binkle tries to hide away from the world. Luckily, two of his butterfly friends find him. They take them to their other friends: the spiders who could weave strong webs, the silkworms who could make a strong thread, and the bees that could inject beautiful colors. Together, the bugs work alongside one another to build Binkle his own set of strong, beautiful wings.

With the strength of his new wings and the gentle encouragement of his true friends, Binkle takes a chance and starts to fly. After all, in life, there is always more than one way to fly.

Binkle's Time to Fly is a story about how anyone can fly in this life. The author, Sharmila Collins, wrote this story as a gift of love to her daughter. Her daughter was born with a painful condition called recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Through her daughter's journey, the author wishes that all children find hope and know that their lives are beautiful, and just like Binkle, they were all born to fly.

In this special story, all Binkle wants to do is fly like a butterfly. He waits for that day as an egg, then as a caterpillar and then in a cocoon. But when he finally emerges from his cocoon, he discovers his wings don’t work properly. Sad and disappointed he hides under a leaf wondering what he can do. Thankfully, he has friends….

Binkle’s Time to Fly is a sweet story focusing on never giving up, the power of friendship, and helping others when they are sad. The illustrations are much like the cover picture with soft, gentle tones of various bright cheerful colors. On a few of the pages there are multiple smaller pictures while the text curves around the shape of picture. When there is a full page picture, the text is always easy to read against the background colors.

Overall, a wonderful book to share with your little one.

I am different from all other butterflies, and I always will be, said Binkle.
But I don't care- all I want to do is fly.

Binkle started out in this world unable to fly like a butterfly. In his hopelessness, his friends gathered around and made a way for Binkle to fly. A story for young readers to know that you can help others and others can help you. A valuable lesson to teach our kiddos the importance of others.

The illustrations are vivid and your child and you will share the empathy of Binkle and his desire to be able to fly.

A Special Thank you to Flyaway Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
