Are tigers as brave as we think they are? In this easy-to-read book, children learn that everyone is afraid of something. What About Worms!? follows the traditional Elephant & Piggie comic book layout. This book challenges readers to infer and predict what is going to happen next in a fun way. What About Worms!? is a hilarious book that is perfect for children who are learning how to read.

Another book in this series of Elephant and Piggie Like Reading that is urge to fly off the bookshelf at your library. It seems tigers and worms are afraid of things that they know little about and the worms find that after reading and discovering more information they are a bit less afraid.

This is "Elephant/Piggie" taken up a notch. In the book, the main character Tiger has to face his anxiety over worms. It has a surprise ending that makes this book worthy of discussion and analysis in older grades. Adults and kids alike will enjoy the emotions jumping off the page. It is a refreshing book that deals with a tough topic to discuss with kids.

Ryan T. Higgin's style and humor is perfect for the Elephant & Piggie format, and it works particularly well in, "What About Worms?" As an early reader book, the vocabulary is tight and the size and style of font is appropriate. Towards the end of the book, when the worms get the starring role, there are a lot of speech bubbles on the page and it feels a little busy, but it shouldn't be enough to discourage readers. Even the worms are emotive, though tiger steals the show with expressions and body language. The ending is a touch abrupt, and readers may feel that one more page would have provided a more satisfying end. This bright, silly book is a welcome addition to the "Elephant and Piggie Like Reading" collection; here's hoping Higgins continues more early readers in the future.

This book is adorable and such a fun read! Kids get to see the familiar faces of Elephant and Piggie as they introduce the book is great. The tiger appears very relatable about having only one fear and being very tough. The art is absolutely beautiful. The language is repetitive and simplistic perfect for kids just starting to read. It is funny which also appeals to the demographic. Overall, it is great!

Another great entry in the Elephant and Piggie Like Reading series, this time by Ryan T. Higgins. I love how Mo Willems has found so many authors and illustrators with similar sensibilities as him-- it makes these books really easy to sell to young readers at the library.

Ryan Higgins' Bruce books are so popular at my school it is hard to imagine combining his talent with Elephant and Piggie and the result not being a hit. No worries there, this book is super funny. We start with a tiger who seems petrified of worms and is constantly letting his fear spoil everything. Then, we get the perspectives of worms that show up later and see how much they love our friend Tiger. Kids will giggle at the different views on the same events, and adults might see humour in how tiger blames worms for things that are in his head.

First book I have read by the authors. My grandkids wanted me to read something by Mo Willems because they love that author. The subject of the book was cute and fun but overall the format was very hard to follow. I hope that the "real" book is better because the Kindle version was almost unreadable. Cute idea and cute graphics!

satisfying, funny story that will motivate beginning readers to keep reading. Another quality easy reader that meets the standards of Elephant and Piggie.

This title is sure to be a bestseller simply because it has Mo Willems's name on it (and Ryan T. Higgins doesn't do so badly himself), but it deserves praise in its own right. What about Worms!? is a funny, charming story about overcoming fear by knowledge and is replete with plenty of worm puns. Kids will love the Elephant and Piggy cameos and the stylistically and tonally similar story. The characters (tiger and worms alike) are adorable, and the bright colors and bold contours give the book visual appeal. For beginning readers, preschoolers, and just about anyone. Ages 3-7.

Higgins zany drawings and comedic timing are just right for young readers. This young tiger is very brave except for one fear: worms. The feeling is reciprocated, until the worms discover from a book that they really do like Tigers. "Worm Hugs" for all in this fun story perfect for reading aloud.

Another new edition in the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series, and it is just as wonderful as we have all come to expect from the creators. What About Worms is laugh out loud funny, and shows that sometimes who we're afraid of is equally as afraid of us! So why not learn about each other to alleviate that fear, as isn't it the fear of the unknown that we are truly scared of!

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Disney Book Group, and Hyperion Books for Children for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A playful and inventive (and—dare I say it—rather long winded) look at worms at tigers. A fun read and character study for young readers.

Fabulous addition to the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading series. Ryan T. Higgins' delightful sense of humor and adorable illustrations come to life in the easy reader format. The ending leaves so much room for inferencing and prediction. I look forward to sharing it with both worm and tiger lovers alike. Worm hugs for everyone!

Ryan Higgins is quickly becoming one of my go to illustrators/writers. His books are funny, sarcastic, enjoyable to read, and have amazing illustrations. When I saw he was teaming up with the Elephant and Piggie Presents books - I was hooked.

My daughter and I read this right away and it did not disappoint. The tiger reminded me of Hobbs in all the best ways. The details and nuance that were placed in the illustrations were amazing. Highly recommend and can't wait to read it again.

What About Worms?! is absolutely delightful. This is the kind of book that would be great to read to a group of kindergarten students to get them giggling. I need a copy of this one!

This is a great book for kids and parents alike--one that parents won't get sick of reading over and over and over. I read it with my 6.5-year-old twins and 3-year-old, and they all liked it. They liked seeing Elephant and Piggie as well as a cameo from the Pigeon. They said it was "funny and cute" and they "liked the whole story." Definitely a must-buy for libraries and personal collections!

I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I received an electronic ARC from Disney Book Group through NetGalley.
Higgins has created a story where readers experience different points of view. The tiger shares how brave he is to begin the story. Then admits he is afraid of worms. Readers see him enjoy a pot of flowers, an apple, and a book until he realizes worms like them too. He breaks the flowerpot, drops the apple and refuses to read the book in his fear. Midway through, the focus switches and readers get to see the world from worms view. They learn about tigers and think he has given them the dirt, apple and book to enjoy. The tiger runs off in fear.
Delightful illustrations and fun filled introduction and ending by Elephant and Piggie. Plenty of humor for young readers. A great read aloud.
Great for discussion of admitting our fears and facing them as well as learning to look at situations from different perspectives.
