Again Again by E. Lockhart is a unique and captivating read that explores love, loss, and self-discovery in a fresh, unconventional way. The story follows Adelaide, a teen navigating a complicated relationship with her family, her past, and her romantic feelings. Lockhart’s writing style is lyrical and fragmented, giving the novel an almost dreamlike quality, which fits perfectly with the theme of trying to figure out who you are in the midst of chaos. It’s not your typical YA novel, and while the nonlinear structure might be a bit tricky for some, it’s a thought-provoking and emotional journey.

I am not sure how to rate this. Sure, the concept was interesting but I don't think the book made an impact on me as a reader. Still, it was unique

I appreciate the opportunity to review this, but I still haven't read it after five years and likely will not. Thank you anyway!

The concept for this book was interesting however tiresome at some points. I worry reluctant teens won’t want to read the multiple versions of situations.

This book had an interesting premise, and I was excited to read it. Sadly, the story did not live up to the expectations, and that might not be on me. I found myself struggling to connect and get into the book.

This was such a sweet read and definitely the first of many I will be reading by this author. I found all the characters relatable in their own way. The romance aspect was written so well.

I found the idea of the multiple different realities to be interesting, however it just didn't really go anywhere. There are some different love interests where there were multiple reactions and ways that things either proceeded, or didn't. I liked the quirkiness and I liked the way this book dealt with addiction and the sibling dynamic. I think the whole thing just felt forced to me as opposed to organic and natural. I think the best parts were the ones related to Adelaide's family dynamic and relationships. This is the first I have read from this author and I would be willing to give her another shot. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.

I've been a big fan of E Lockhart and her books since high school so I was really excited to read this book. I was completely into this book. The whole idea of if you were to live your life again, what would you change left me thinking a lot. This has impacted me.

I think the idea of this was better than the execution. It felt less like multiverse possibilities, and more like an anxious girl with an overactive imagination thinking out all the ways potential conversations could go. Which ends up feeling overwhelming/repetitive, vs being able to enjoy the potential what ifs...

Very interesting story telling style and I really enjoyed it. Heartwarming and sad and beautiful. I liked that there wasn't a "true" story/ending and also didn't like that cause part of my brain wants to know what's real!

i really wanted to love this, but it ultimately fell very flat for me. it just wasn’t something that i felt connected to & the storyline felt like it dragged on foreveeeeer.

I enjoyed the concept of parallel timelines. This is a fun one by a well known author that I think teens will enjoy. Already purchased it for the library's collection.

Having read other E. Lockhart books, I had unbelievably high expectations coming into this book. Unfortunately, it was not met.

Again, Again is confusing as hell. Being lost within the first few pages bored me SO MUCH that it gave me a reading slump. It took me a few days before I had the motivation to pick up another book—still, I went on, but the book really wasn't something that I would recommend.

Maybe the next E. Lockhart book I read would be better—hopefully.

I didn’t feel dripped in this one as I did with We Were Liars which I found to be fantastic. This was still a solid read nonetheless

I did not particularly enjoy this book. It wasn’t bad, it was just fine. Honestly, the scenario repetition was annoying, and the characters were SO one dimensional.

I really enjoy books that delve into topics of the multiverse, different possibilities, and choices. Overall, I enjoyed this one, but I didn't feel as though the female protagonist was fleshed out enough for me to full invest myself in her story. I really appreciate howe centric E. Lockhart's novels are, and that she writes stories that are unique and set apart from other YA titles. I think this one will work for a lot of readers, and overall I found it enjoyable and easy to get through.

After moving and family upheaval, Adelaide Buchwald is trying to find herself. It’s the summer between her junior and senior years, and she has taken a job as a dog walker (and watcher). As she deals with the dogs, her family dysfunction, lack of motivation and focus, a serious breakup, and a new crush, Adelaide reconciles herself with the “what is” but wishes for the “what could be”. When she meets Nick (or re-meets him), she begins to fantasize about how things should be or could be while trying to ignore what is. When Adelaide finally realizes that she must face who she is and what actually is, instead of “who she could be” or “what could be”, she begins the process of forgiveness: forgiveness of herself; forgiveness of her parents; forgiveness of her brother, and forgiveness of what will not be.

Again Again is a fun magical realism, romance. Adelaide plays through every situation in the hope of the best outcome (or possibly the worst outcomes). This trait may be very familiar to readers, especially teens, which adds to the connection to Adelaide; she is an easily understandable character. The text font changes as situations change from reality to Adelaide’s imagination. This is harder to follow when listening to the audio book, which is excellent, but easy to see when looking at the print novel. This is a sure-to-please light-hearted romance for all ages.

I read this book two years ago, but I remember enjoying it and I purchased it for my library. The kids love E Lockhart because I love her -- and I'm always pitching her books to them. This may not feed fans of We Were Liars, but it WILL feed some of my favorite contemporary readers. Thank you for the chance to preview this book.

Adelaide the dog walker is having a rough time. Her boyfriend (now ex) recently left her, she's struggling with school projects, and her relationship with her brother is not ideal.
Throughout the story we see many ways that certain moments in her life could play out, repeating them to see different possible outcomes until the one that really happens...does. Again, and again.
.
I enjoyed several aspects of this book; it was easy to read, the dogs, and Adelaide's relationship with her brother Toby who is an addict; these are what made the book worth the read for me, especially the story line with Toby. The way the two's relationship progressed from fear, distance and frustration to love and care was something I do wish was more of a focus; it was real and so well written that if the romantic interests with other characters took a back seat I would've been all for it and more likely to recommend the book.
.
The rest of the book was just alright. The author's writing different possibilities of how a number of situations would play out felt repetitive after the first few times, and the end chapters were just all together too much for me. At times I had to clarify what was reality and what was just either Adelaide thinking of other endings or if it was just the author showing us readers the possibilities; it became diffictlt to differentiate, was muddled and just wasn't my cup of tea at all. The main love interests weren't stand out men by any stretch, and while I did state that the alternate timelines were not great I did enjoy it being said outright that Adelaide has unhealthy relationship patterns, that acknowledgement was good to see.
.
Overall, it was alright. The alternate ending aspects weren't executed in a way that I was a fan of, and I would've liked more words on the familial relationship and less on the romantic ones. That said, E. Lockhart writes in an easy to read way that made even the more confusing parts pleasant to experience. That, the parts we did get with Toby , and the commentary on unhealthy relationships made it worth it. I won't be rereading Again, Again, but would be interested in checking out her other work.

I really hoped I would enjoy as much I loved We Were Liars by the sam earth or but for me it just fell short. I don’t think that by any means this is a “bad” book, it just wasn’t what I expected it to be. Overall I enjoyed the story but nothing really stuck out and felt remarkable or thought provoking to me the way that more of the other novels I’ve read and enjoyed typically do.
