This is a very predictable, but heartwarming book. The book takes place in the 1840's about a schoolmarm named Willa who is intrigued by the new reverend who comes to town. He is caring for his broter's grieving young children since his brother and his brother's wife died in an accident. Many events happen in town including the return of the man who deserted Willa, sickness in the town, and Willa's friend Ellen's relentless attempt to marry the reverend.
