I really enjoyed Carolina Breeze, probably more than its predecessor, Lake Season. I enjoyed getting to know Levi better. As an oldest child, I could relate to the responsibilty he feels towards his sisters, especially after the death of their parents. Mia's character was also interesting to read about, and to see her growth and how she grew to see her self-worth.
This is the second book in the series. It is a standalone, but if you don't like spoilers, or you don't like feeling like you missed backstory you shold read Lake Season first.
Mia Emerson is a rising star in Hollywood, that is until a picture is taking out of context. She also was recently dumped by her fiancée.
Having felt the need to get out of the limelight, she goes one person honeymoon to an inn at Bluebell , North Carolina. She picked this place because her grandparents are from this town.
Levi is struggling to keep the Inn afloat after the death of his parents. He’s also taking care of his sisters.
A beautiful place , two amazing characters.
I loved Levi and Mia, and even Levi’s sisters. While this is the second book in there the series , I didn’t read the first , it can also be read as a stand-alone, however I will be reading book one and anxiously awaiting book threes arrival. Now I must pack,I’m going to vacation at the bluebell inn.
Thanks to Net Galley for the digital ARC of Denise Hunter's newest book... Carolina Breeze! I am a librarian and we have a huge number of patrons who keep asking for this book. It is wonderful. I highly recommend it.
3 1/2 stars but I rounded up to 4.
I love Denise Hunter and I loved the first book in this series, Lake Season. Loved it loved it. This one? My least favorite part of that book was the brother Levi Bennet, well, this book is all about Levi, and I still don't like him. Ugh. I loved the side stories with the sisters, I adored Mia and felt her struggles were so well written. I just feel like Levi deserved a good 'ole smack across the face and he never got it.
All that aside, the setting, the plot, and the character development are so well written. I can't wait for #3!
Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.

“There were three women in the house, and they were all mad at him for different reasons. That took a special kind of talent.”
Carolina Breeze, the second installment in Denise Hunter’s Bluebell Inn Romance series, takes readers to the beautiful and peaceful town of Bluebell, North Carolina. Denise Hunter has been one of my favorite contemporary romance authors for years, and she continues to amaze me with her incredible writing skills and her ability to create realistically flawed characters that her readers will fall in love with. Lake Season, the first book in the series, was an enjoyable read, but Carolina Breeze easily rises to the top of the list as one of my favorite Denise Hunter books.
Levi Bennett will capture the readers’ hearts with his handsome movie star good looks, his confidence and sense of humor, and his caring, honest personality. The stress he faces as he feels responsible for his younger adult sisters following the death of their parents while trying to run the financially struggling inn endears him to readers as they root for him to get his happy ending. Levi is now one of my favorite heroes of Denise Hunter’s, only second to my all-time favorite hero of hers, Wade Ryan in A Cowboy’s Touch.
In a story that is reminiscent to the movie Notting Hill, famous movie star Mia Emerson finds herself at the Bluebell Inn in North Carolina after a scandal forces her to flee the paparazzi in Hollywood and meets handsome “regular guy” Levi who is running the local inn. Sparks begin to fly between the two, but time will tell if their differences are too great to overcome.
Mia’s belief that she was unworthy of love and her realization that God loves her and would never abandon her authentically weaves the spiritual thread into the storyline. Carolina Breeze is very highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance, especially readers who have enjoyed books by authors such as Courtney Walsh and Becky Wade.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you left your heart in North Carolina.”
This is a great next installment in this series. This can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading the other books in the series to better get to know the characters and to follow their ongoing story. This book had a mystery and a touching romance. Highly recommend.
As this story began I wondered how on earth Mia was going to end up at the Bluebell Inn. Cleverly put together from the start - there’s a little of the ‘Notting Hill’ feels with this one.
What a wonderful development of this series, that has a unique feel to it. This family of siblings left without parents is something I can relate to. Left trying to make the best decisions they know how, though mistakes are inevitably made and relationships damaged.
The continuation of the story with Molly and Adam was lovely too. I always like it when stories don’t end with one book.
Levi is an honorable man, and to be fair - coming from the world that Mia lives in, he needs to be everything that Hollywood is not.
Beautiful story, looking forward to Grace’s side of things. She’s a character we’ve gotten glimpses of, adventurous and willing to be a little more of a risk taker.
Thank you to Netgalley for the eARC. This is my honest review.
This story has so much going for it! Levi and his sisters vow to finish The Blue Bell Inn to fulfill their parents dream. Mia is an actress who is embroiled in a scandal, none of which is her fault, though she’s being blamed by the media and the public. She decides to get away to The Blue Bell Inn that once belonged to her grandparents, and hopes she can hide from the media. She extends her vacation several times and begins to feel she is part of the family as she falls in love with Levi. The scandal part of the book is an excellent look into how a public person would feel and react when they are victim of a scandal. This is a Christian romance book, and I would recommend it to anyone. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out if it is a happily ever after story! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction. All opinions expressed are my own.
Denise Hunter is one of my all time favorite authors. Her romance stories are superb and I enjoy each and every one. Carolina Breeze is no exception.
I love the setting at the charming Bluebell Inn in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The continuation of the story from Lake Season about two sisters, Molly and Grace, and their brother Levi, trying to make a go of it as innkeepers felt like a visit with old friends. I really enjoyed the mystery of the missing necklace too.
Levi took me a while to warm up to though. Molly and Grace though him bossy and a control freak, and I couldn't have agreed more. These lines summed it up pretty well,
"There were three women in the house, and they were all mad at him for different reasons. That took a special kind of talent."
Molly and Adam are still favorite characters in this series and I enjoyed the part they played in this book. My favorite line of all was from Adam,
"You look so beautiful. And I'm trying very hard not to spew random facts, but the urge is strong." Knowing his personality and his penchant for facts, this is so adorable!
Carolina Breeze was a delightful book and I look forward to third sibling Grace's story. I appreciate Thomas Nelson making a review copy available through Netgalley. Opinions expressed are all my own.
I have really enjoyed this series. Reading Levi's story was really interesting and I enjoyed getting to know him more. I found him a very interesting character in the first book and really enjoyed "watching" him grow in this one.
I can relate to Levi in a way. I have a tenancy to want to control those around me to make sure they don't do anything that could hurt them or make their lives difficult. Like Levi, I have had to learn to let go and allow them to make their own mistakes.
The writing was very well done. I was drawn into this story and wanted to stay a long time. I felt the characters were easy to relate to and the story line was well laid out.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book!
This second installment in the Bluebell Inn series focuses in on Levi, the oldest of the Bennett children. As such, he feels the weight of his father's last words to take care of his sisters. Only, he has failed to recognize that this commission doesn't mean running their lives for them. As he gets in over his head with trying to keep the inn afloat and a guest with a complicated situation arrives at the inn, will he be able to let go of some of the weight he shouldn't be carrying in the first place?
I really enjoy this ongoing series with the Bennett siblings. Each of them has a unique personality that sets them apart on the page, yet they work together as a family to help carry on the family legacy. Levi works so hard to help his sisters reach their dreams, yet he also feels the family mantle on his shoulders from his parents' dream of the inn, causing him to lose sight of his own dreams and needs a bit in the process. His story of learning to admit his mistakes and limits is a great addition to this family saga.
I give this book 4 stars; I'm really enjoying the Bennett family, and I can't wait to read more about Grace!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I'm loving this series about the Bennett siblings and their inn in Bluebell, North Carolina.
This is Levi's story. He's the oldest and feels responsible for his sisters, Molly and Grace. He also bears the responsibility of the inn's financial status and he's keeping the truth from his sisters.
Mia goes to Bluebell to flee a scandal, hoping to lay low and away from the public eye for a while. As Levi starts driving her around and doing small errands to help her, they develop a friendship.
Little by little, they turn out to be the person the other needs. Mia's situation turns more precarious and Levi becomes her protector and supporter. She becomes his confidante. I loved going along for he ride as they fall in love.
I loved the setting, the town and the inn, and all the returning characters. There's also a mystery involving the history of the inn, just like in the first book. The writing is excellent and the relationships between the characters make this story a beautiful one.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Carolina Breeze by Denise Hunter is a beautiful love story. I love when Mia and Levi go off looking for the diamond they find described in Mias grandmothers journal.💎 the descriptions of the feelings they have for each other is romantic. Was so hard to read about the press was doing to Mia when she got there especially with all that is going on in the media today with Prince Harry and his family leaving the Royal family because of what happened to his mother Diana. Read the story you will love it.
Love, love, love! Denise Hunter has done it again with this novel. It’s a beautiful story set in a beautiful location. Too bad it’s fiction! I’d like to visit Bluebell, North Carolina someday. She has woven a story with a little bit of romance, a little bit of a mystery, and just enough conflict and tension to make it a solid read. Highly recommended.
Somehow Denise Hunter makes each novel better than the last. It should be an impossible feat, but with Carolina Breeze, she does it again. Mia needs a place to escape, and Levi is simply trying to keep his family afloat. What they don’t realize is they need each other. Each page of this book gently tugged me to the next with characters so real they felt like friends. Add in tension, secrets, and romance, and Caroline Breeze was a book I could not put down. I highly recommend it to lovers of romance filled with characters who feel like friends by the final page.
LOVED every page. Such a good book with a great blend of characters and romantic tension.
This story has so much in it! I couldn't stop reading it! Mia and Levi were amazing characters.
Levi felt he needed to be the man of the family and tried to do it all on his own. Levi had such a kind heart and meant well no matter what.
Mia was dealing with all kinds of abandoment. She was such a wonderfully built character. You just fell in love with her character immediatly!
This story was so wonderful that I did not want it to ever end! I would have been happy for it to continue on for lots more chapters.
Denise Hunter is such a wonderful author and knows how to write in a way that makes you feel like you can see what is going on. After a while when reading her books you forget your reading and just kinda see it all play out in your mind.
I highly recommend this book and series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I loved this second in the Bluebell Inn series even more than the first book. But I also felt like I knew all these characters since I enjoyed the first book, Lake Season too.
It was interesting to get a peak behind the scenes at at movie star scandal and also an inside look at the running of a historic inn.
One thing in this novel that was different than many I have read is that the female in the story was the star and the male was the "average guy. Often its the other way around.
It was a wonderful story with a lot of feels and sweet moments and a bit of a mystery.
I recommend it highly..
I was given a copy to read by NetGalley (thank you) but the opinions are entirely
This was a second book in a series so I need to go back and read the first. I thought this book was a sweet book that helped me escape the chaos of the Christmas season. I think I will enjoy reading more books by this author. I have many patrons that love this author....so they will be happy to read a new book by her.
I loved this book!
I feel like I say that too often, but I do choose to read books by authors who have written books in the past that I have enjoyed....so there is that.
It was wonderful to return to the Bluebell Inn and reconnect with the three Bennett siblings. I got to see what was going on with Adam and Molly after they finally became a couple in book 1. They are such a cute couple.
The love story in this book is Levi and Mia. I won't tell you who she is or how they meet, but I will tell you that the interaction between the two is very believable. The way Denise Hunter writes, gives us great insight into why each person feels and acts the way they do. Makes the characters three dimensional, and sooo good.
The interaction between the three siblings is really good. Since I have three brothers I can relate to them.
If you like a clean romance, this is a good choice. You do need to read the first book in the series, Lake Season, first. It introduces you to the town, the inn and it's history, and to the three Bennett siblings who own and run the inn.
There's time to purchase and read Lake Season because Carolina Breeze won't be released until May, 2020.
I received an advance copy of this book from Harper Collins through NetGalley. I am not required to give a positive review, only to give my honest opinion of the book.
Mia is an up and coming actress who is thrown into turmoil when her co-star puts a move on her that ends up all over social media. Add to that the fact that her fiancé had dumped her a few months before, and Mia needs to get away. Her former fiancé had never cancelled their honeymoon plans, so Mia retreats to North Carolina to hide. The spot had been chosen because at one time her grandparents have lived there. All her life, Mia had been told by her mother that her grandparents had disowned her mother, but Mia was curious. She meets the handsome innkeeper, who has issues of his own. Will they manage to shed their baggage and forge a relationship or are they both too set in their ways?
