I received an e-arc of Today Tonight Tomorrow from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This story follows Rowan Roth on her last day of high school, she is in the running to be the valedictorian along with her long time rival Neil McNair. I enjoyed the slow burn rivals to friends to lovers romance that took place between these characters.
On the last day of senior year, there is a scavenger hunt game that is organized for the seniors by the junior class, I felt that this was a fun addition to the story and with the setting of Seattle, it felt like the characters were leading a tour of the city.
Rachel Lynn Solomon's writing accurately describes the feelings of leaving high school and moving on to college life on your own, I found myself highlighting a lot of relatable quotes and feelings that the characters had.
I liked the aspects of texts and lists that were scattered through the book, as well as Rowan's 'guilty pleasure' of romance novels and how they have taught her about sexuality in a positive way.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and feel like I read it at the right time as I am in a similar situation to the characters with graduating this year. I gave Today Tonight Tomorrow 4 out of 5 stars.
This book also has Jewish rep and LGBT+ characters!

Like it says in the blurb, this book reminded me a LOT of a cross between The Hating Game and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Rowan Roth (aka Artoo as a cute R2D2 reference) and Neil McNair have pushed each other throughout high school to better one another and be the best in their classes. On the last day of school, the senior class traditionally plays a game called Howl which is a bit like assassin and Rowan and Neil end up pairing up. Of course, once they are stuck together, they get to know things about each other they hadn't known at all in the 4 years they competed against each other and they don't hate what they learn about each other.

This is pure fun YA and if you're a fan of that genre, this one should definitely be on your radar. It moves quickly and is quirky and fun and nostalgic. The fact that Rowan loves romance novels and is writing one of her own is just icing on the cake :)

Today Tonight Tomorrow starts off with Rowan getting her daily morning wake up text from her arch nemesis, on their final day of high school. For years her and Neil have competed for the top spot on all their academics. Finding out she has lost to Neil for the spot of valedictorian, she knows she only has one last chance to come out on top - the city-wide scavenger hunt that has all the seniors pitted against each other. When Rowan & Neil decide it might be in their best interests to pair up to start, they come to realize maybe they don’t actually hate each other. In fact, they kind of like each other...a lot.

I just wanted to start this review off by saying that I loved Today Tonight Tomorrow! One of my favourite tropes is enemies to lovers and this book really did that well. I loved the characters and the banter between them. I'm also a sucker for mixed media in books, in this case there were texts exchanged between the characters and emails also thrown into the mix and it added another level of enjoyment to the story for me. I don't want to ramble too much but I can't wait to read more by this author!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a complementary arc for this book in exchange for an honest review.

I would give this 4.5 stars!!! When I saw the words 'The Hating Game' on the blurb, I immediately requested this book and I was so excited to read it - and it did not disappoint! This book was adorable and engaging from the beginning to the end. I have always loved enemies to lovers romances and the author brilliantly delivered exactly what I was looking for. I had laugh-out-loud moments, yet there were times when I teared up! The romance was so heart warming and swoony! As a star wars fan, every time Neil called Rowan Artoo, my heart just melted! I love these characters so much! They are extremely relatable and amazing in every way!! The author also delved into important topics like anti-semitism, stereotypes, guilty pleasures etc and handled them beautifully. This book was a fun yet heartwarming and emotional ride!!! I can't recommend this enough!!

Recently, I'm making an effort to read more books in the romance genre, which is why I picked up Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon. Being a new highschool graduate myself I related to the main character--although I'm not nearly as much an overachiever--and found her rivalry/relationship with the boy to be lots of fun. Fans of the rivals-to-lovers or friends-to-lovers tropes, like me, will find themselves grinning pretty often. I can definitely see myself buying this book and re-reading it when I'm in the mood for something light! Overall, it was a cute read but nothing mind-blowing.

This book was SO fun! I absolutely loved the creative idea behind the premise of this book. It kept me so engaged, and excited to see what’s next. If you loved The Hating Game, you will absolutely love this book. I highly recommend it!

Oh. My. God.
I’ll be honest, the first 10% of this book didn’t really grab me, but I was sucked into the rest of it and couldn’t put it down. I even snuck in some reading while I was at work, cause I just had to finish it. The characters are delightfully sweet and perfectly awkward, and their rivalry/romance was very well done. I felt every emotion they did, and loved the whole rollercoaster ride of them. I loved how honest and open Rowan and Neil are, and I shipped them hard. I was not disappointed. I haven’t read Rachel Lynn Solomon’s other books, but I’ll be definitely picking them up after this.

This was the book I dreamed of reading when I was graduating and getting ready to set out into the world. The real world problems and the incredibly sweet and soft romance that bloomed in this book was heartfelt and wonderful to read about.

I went in originally concerned that pacing was going to be a problem for me but it was really well thought out and so well done. Definitely cannot wait to have a physical copy of this book on my shelf!

Today Tonight Tomorrow is my first book by this author. It is a YA contemporary romance.

The story takes place in Seattle. The narrator is Rowan (1st person POV). It is her last day of high school. The book takes place over 24 hours.

The story focuses on a rivalry that Rowan has with a boy at her school (Neil). They have an intense rivalry. They are the two top graduating students. And they like to compete with each other in every single thing that they do at school.

This book was an easy entertaining read.

It was a cute YA story. But since the book takes place in 24 hours the romance was not really what I was expecting.

There were definitely some things that I liked about this book. My favorite parts had to do with writing books. Rowan's parents are famous authors/illustrators of a popular children's series of books. Rowan has a favorite author that she desperately wants to meet. And Rowan is obsessed with romance novels and writing one. All of these things hit a chord with me.

Most of this book is about a game that their high school plays on the last day of school. It is part Assassin and part scavenger hunt with the winner getting a cash prize.

The idea of the game was interesting. But there were things that just didn't make sense to me. I didn't understand how certain people could be leading the game when they were doing so many other things that were not game related.

I know that it's popular to have an entire book take place in one day. But for me it made the romance aspect not work as well. There was very little actual romance in the story.

The book was cute and enjoyable while I was reading it. But I'm not sure I liked the ending. The book could be read by young teens until the end. But then end was a bit more adult and would make it seem 17+ for me.

4.5/5
ADORABLE storyline! I absolutely love enemies turned lovers storylines and this one was super cute and swoony. Loved the confession scene and how their relationship felt like it naturally grew and reached that point, even though I must say it was pretty fast (literally within a day). I also didn't quite think the ending part where their relationship accelerated A LOT was necessary. It seemed like it was tacked on, rushed, and not as natural as the rest of the book. Otherwise, I loved the story and Rowan and Neil are definitely some of my favorite characters I've read.

I stayed up until 2am last night to finish this book, because well, I had to!

I loved this story. I had read a couple YA contemporaries in the past few months that definitely did not leave me feeling that encouraged. But this one, yep! The representation of the characters and their backgrounds was executed very thoughtfully. The sex positivity/consent was just perfect! I loved how Rachel Lynn Solomon addressed that by showing how romance novels had given the MC, Rowan, a lot of confidence to have the conversations about sex and relationships, despite the majority of people around her scoffing at her love for romance novels.

I also just loved Rowan! She was relatable, she was strong, she was scared, she was trying to figure herself out and struggling with leaving behind everything she had ever known. She loved what she loved, but she felt insecure. She sometimes said really awful things in an attempt to protect herself and the things she loved. And most of all, she was a relatable YA character (minus the fact that she always seemed to get perfect downtown parking?! That is definitely not relatable 😂).

Neil was just the sweetest bean. You could tell he cared deeply, but had put up a bit of a wall. Every bit of information that was revealed about Neil, made so much sense to who he was a character. I loved watching the way he interacted with the women in his life, and seeing the way he was with his friends. A straight male character who didn't have to be a total "bro" was a nice aspect of this story.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope, and this one delivered. Rowan and Neil's relationship was great right from the beginning to the end. The way they bounce everything off of each other was very entertaining and I became wholly invested in their story. Plus that ending just wrapped the story up into a perfect little bow. 4.5 stars for me!

I'm so thankful to Rachel Lynn Solomon, Simon Pulse, and NetGalley for gifting me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I will be buying a copy when it comes out to keep on my shelf and recommend to students and friends!

I started this book last night at around 12:00AM and thought to myself, just read a few chapters and go to bed. INSTEAD, I stayed awake until the early hours of this morning and finished the whole thing.

I would LOVE to see this book become a movie. I could imagine everything so vividly in my head and I think it would translate so well as a movie.

Anyways, this was truly wonderful. Rowan and Neil rivalled each other from pretty much the moment they met. The two of them always competing for the top of their class, or the occasional contest, find their last competition in waiting to see who will be valedictorian. The two of them have been explosive as a duo for so long, but when they settle down they realize that all this really just helped bring out the absolute best in their academics.

Now it's time for Howl, the annual senior scavenger hunt, and Rowan and Neil are at it one more time.

I loved their banter and constant teasing/bickering. I never felt like they were attacks but just little jabs were so fun and as these two spent more time together I just loved the characters more and more.

I felt like Rowan was just me in a character (minus me being Jewish because I am not). All her struggles and insecurities I felt and I loved and connected with her from the very beginning. Her love for romance and all the crap she gets for it is what I deal with on a daily basis and she said exactly what I think every day of my life.

Today Tonight Tomorrow is a fun enemies to lovers story following two teens that are nearing their final days of school and yet, are still learning so much... about each other. If I had the physical book in my hands, I would've hugged it every time something sweet happened.

Anyways, I have run out of coherent thoughts. I just loved this a lot and I wish great things for it.

Rowan and Neil have been adversaries since grade 9 when he won an essay contest. There has been a back and forth between them since then. This book covers their final day of high school, where they learn a lot about each other, even secrets their best friends don't know.

This book was hate to love romance at its finest. I admit this is one of my favourite tropes in romance, and this one did not disappoint. I loved reading the banter between Rowan and Neil and how they learned more about each other than they ever knew. I enjoyed that Solomon did all this while taking us on a journey around Seattle.

The character development in this book was great. I felt like I could picture and knew both Rowan and Neil, but also the friends they had. The writing was good, and I loved the banter between Rowan and Neil. I loved this book and really enjoyed this feel good story. I look forward to reading what Solomon puts out in the future. A solid 4.5/5

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Cliches are cliches for a reason and this book is full of all of my favorites.

I'm not a big adult-romance reader like our MC is, but I really liked Rowan's love for the genre and refusal to feel bad about liking something that made her happy because Today Tonight Tomorrow is the type of book I would have pretended not to like a few years ago. It's sweet and happy and it's impossible not to grin at least once while reading it. Lovers to haters? Amazing. My favourite thing. An oblivious teen protagonist who you want to scream at for not realizing someone likes her? The best.

This was such a fun book and feeling guilty for liking fun books is stupid. People are allowed to like sit-coms but if you like the bookish equivalent it's somehow lesser than. If you're looking for an escape from reality, this is a really good book to read (I especially liked it because as an actual graduating student in the middle of all this, it was really fun to live through an imaginary last day of school. I'm assuming when the book actually comes out Class of 2020 will be changed to Class of 2019 because literally none of these books events would be possible in the present day reality they're set in, but playing pretend is fun even if it's a few years off).

This was such a cute book and it reminded me of when I was a senior in high school and we had scavenger hunt game around the city. This is such a relatable book for kids in high school and I remember going through similar experiences/issues. This book was a little predictable for me, but it was extremely cute nonetheless. I will say that the ending was a little too abrupt for my liking, I was hoping for a little bit more.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

3.5-4

this really reminds me of "the sun is also a star"
i always believed that your partner in life should want to see you do better, & want to see you succeed & they would help you by pushing you to be better, so i loved that rowan & neil were always trying to push themselves to do better than the other even though they "hated" each other. i loved diving into their adventure, & seeing the process of them getting to know each other. i would have wanted a little more character development, but i do appreciate the emphasis of realization & how rowan became more aware of who she was as a person.

i loved how the protagonists were jewish. i loved how they spoke out about the issues they faced because it spreads awareness of religious discrimination/stereotypes. i loved how rowan stood up to savannah bell at the end when rowan reveals she heard savannah comment on her nose & her having money because she's jewish. that was a powerful moment & rowan had so much support it was great. i loved how rowan & neil talked about their personal experiences because it's an issue that holds no boundaries it's seen everywhere & for rachel solomon to incorporate this element to spread awareness is amazing. it's comforting when you meet someone you can relate to, someone who understands what you go through so i'm happy rowan & neil had each other.

i'm not going to lie some events were very predictable, it was really easy to infer some of the details which is a little disappointing, but not the end of the world.

i love how the setting was always changing, but never full of details, it mostly focused on rowan & neil's growing connection, but it was nice to see the element of a scavenger hunt as well.

but also the high school they went to was so much cooler than mine, i don't know any school that would have an event like howl with a $5,000 prize.

the ending is one of the major problems i had with this book. it was like they had sex & then the end. literally that was it. rowan had a lot of concerns at that moment too, but those concerns stopped abruptly with a "well we'll see what the future holds, we'll make it work" sort of monologue, but it really didn't make sense. they had sex an hour before she brought up these concerns & she's had these concerns frequently throughout the book so it really didn't make sense for her train of thought to change course so abruptly. it was a VERY unsatisfying ending, but a cute read nonetheless.

LOVED this book! Heartwarming, real, surprising amount of depth, beautifully flowing plot and genuine characters. Rowan and Neil are surprisingly layered and nuanced without being contrived.

This was the book that I needed to read to be reminded to 1, get out of my own way, 2 take risks, and 3 never stop having fun. Fantastic quarantine read for when you need to be reminded of what human connection looks like.

Today, Tonight, Tomorrow is contemporary and joyful and real. Commonly books featuring teenagers either put adults in high school bodies, or turn high school into something that is a farce. Solomon, thankfully, does neither, and I could not put this book down.

Today Tonight Tomorrow is a novel coming out later this year, I was fortunate enough to get an ARC from Simon & Schuster Canada. The story follows Rowan, a high school student on her last day of school. Rowan has spent the last 4 years going head to head with her rival Neil and today she finds out which of them had earned the coveted title of valedictorian. After classes are let out, the graduating class of 2020 plays HOWL a cross between Assassins and a Scavenger Hunt which takes place all over the city of Seattle. The unlikely duo of Rowan and Neil team up and in the process learn so much more about one another than Rowan starts to wonder if her feelings of hate have been misplaced these last four years...

As a lover of YA and Rom-Coms, and an ADORER of the hate to love trope, this was way up my alley. It was sweet, fun, and endearing look at life as high school is ending when one is looking out at the wide expanse of their future.

An ARC of this novel was sent to me by NetGalley for reviewing purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a quick and fun read- it was extremely quirky and I really liked the pacing of this book. The idea behind the book is nothing new, but the author did a great job adding something new to the concept.
