Seasonal/holiday read with modern themes (social media contest/influencing). Even as someone who doesn't really identify with the 24/7 modern pull of social media it was still an enjoyable holiday read. "Hallmark vibes" where we get a peek into their lives and their coming together. Personally I prefer a romance in the country, or in a fantasy realm, or in the past but this was less fantasy and a bit more "realistic" if that makes sense. I don't necessarily need realism in my reads (give me prince in disguise on a Christmas tree farm all day lol), but for those who like a contemporary romance that is "Hallmark" without being unbelievably over the top, this one is for you.
This isn't a long or intense read with heaps of issues for the various characters, instead, we have quite a sweet little read that leaves you with a smile on your face and a satisfied feeling inside.
Emma hasn't had a great deal of success with romance, but she has been doing rather well with her online chicken business. When she becomes a finalist for a social media competition with an advertising agency, she gets the chance to head to the big city and possibly a life of a bit more excitement.
This is quite a quick read, which is perfect for this kind of story. The romance wasn't drawn out with lots of misunderstanding and confusion. This was just the kind of book I as in the mood for on a lazy Sunday morning.
Thank you to the Riverdal avenue Books and netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An easy to read book. It had an interesting storyline Emma who looks after chickens is entered into a competition. She travels to New York and meets the boss of the company. A romantic ending to this story. I did enjoy the humour and happy end.
Fun, fast paced holiday read. It's a case of Midwest meets Midtown. It's refreshing to see a reversal of the classic "city goes country" concept that you usually see.
Thank you Isabelle Drake, Riverdale Avenue Books and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
An entertaining holiday romance. Good plot and likable characters. I enjoyed the author’s writing and will be reading more of her books. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Personally I just didn't click with the characters here. The plot was different for me with the different "influencers" competing for a contest.
This was primarily written from Emma Lopez's POV. There were a few sections of Ethan's. I prefer a HEA and this book was more of a HFN. There were times when a new section (or chapter) would start and I would have to figure out who the section was referring to.
I had a hard time getting into this story....at times I just had to roll my eyes. It certainly is quirky and if you are in the mood for a quirky Christmas story, this is perfect for you.
I did not dislike the book but it wasn’t a favorite.
Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book and give my honest review.
A very cute and quirky romance for Christmas time. This was a fun, quick read that is perfect to curl up in front of the fireplace with. A nice twist on the typical boy meets girl in the country setting. In this short novella, country girl , Emma goes to the big city for a social media contest and meets a super sexy and sweet city boy. Emma steps out of her comfort zone to enjoy her time in the big city after her ex boyfriend said she wouldn't be safe alone there. I really enjoyed this novella and look forward to reading more by this author. Super cute, feel good romance that deserves a 5 star!
A quick and happy HEA about two people that are socially awkward and end up balancing each other well. Emma comes to NYC and meets up with Ethan in his building. A few misunderstandings, and few sparks and the adventure begins. Took me a bit to keep track of the side characters, but otherwise a sweet Christmas story of two sweet people. Would recommend.
You know how sometimes you're just in the mood for a nice, feel-good romance? Well Not Home for the Holidays ticks all the boxes in that regard. This isn't a long or intense read with heaps of issues for the various characters, instead, we have quite a sweet little read that leaves you with a smile on your face and a satisfied feeling inside.

This is quite a quick read, which is perfect for this kind of story. The romance wasn't drawn out with lots of misunderstanding and confusion. There were some things for the couple to work through and get to their happily ever after, but it didn't feel as though this was being added for the sake of it, or rather the sake of adding some conflict. This was just the kind of book I as in the mood for on a lazy Sunday morning.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
