this was a really good read, I have a fear of mirrors anyway and this just worked so well. I enjoyed the way the author writes and look forward to reading more from them.

Review for 'The Mirror' by S. L. Weiss

Read and reviewed via NetGalley

This is the first book I have read by this author and I would possibly read more of her books.

This book is well written with well defined characters which are your typical 16 year old girls and her family as well as Della and a few other characters. All were likeable (apart from one) and believable (again apart from one).

The story itself would probably be more suited to teenagers and young adults. Although it was interesting I know that I have read a book previously with the same concept. There was also a point in the book where Della had Missy's phone and, without going into too much detail, I found it unbelievable how she could use it even though she'd watched Mossy type, surely it would have been password protected and she wouldn't have seen that much considering where Missy normally used her phone. Therefore, unfortunately that made me take a star off a 5 star rating every book I read starts with.

THE story was interesting and I read it quite quickly but I must say the ending didn't really surprise me which sadly made it lose another star.

Overall it was quite a good book and if you haven't read anything similar you would probably enjoy it more than I did.

I would recommend the book to fans of mystery, paranormal, young adult books and anyone looking for a quick and quite interesting read.

Rated 3/5 on Goodreads and Amazon (It was OK)

Available from 31st March on kindle for £5.37

Missy’s mom is searching for the perfect birthday gift as Missy is turning 16. A salesperson shows her a vanity with mirror. It is old but her mom knows it will hold all her makeup plus it comes with a mirror. When Missy gets it, she is delighted. As she applies some makeup she thinks she sees someone else in the mirror. Did she? Missy decides she didn’t. Later Missy finds another person in the mirror— the one she thought she saw only now it’s her reflection but that person starts to talk her. Her name is Della. She explains all to Missy and tells her to keep it a secret. Della reminds her that no one would believe Missy and they might think she is crazy. Will Missy keep it secret? Why does Della want no one to know about her?

This is a story that have some twists and turns I didn’t expect. It’s an excellent novel. It hints at the thought that it’s not always a good idea to trust a stranger that pretends to want to be your friend. Secrets can have disastrous effects. Secrets can also be fun. It depends on the situation.

This is a clean YA novel with an exciting creep factor.
There's something in the mirror of Missy's new vanity and it isn't her!
A book for teenagers, filled with adorable friendships, puppy love, shopping trips and the things 16 year old girls might like to do. A bit too sweet to my adult liking. For exemple all is peace and happiness at home, but aren't teenagers supposed to be in disagreement with their parents about all kinds of stuff? Ok, not the subject of this story, just saying.
The main element is well crafted and exciting and had me wonder how this would work itself out. I found the end a bit too easy and abrupt. No sign of upset after this weird adventure, as if nothing odd had happened.
The Mirror is a well written fun read, with believable characters, moving at a great pace.

Thank you Netgalley and Zimbell House Publishing for the ARC.
