The author achieves his goal of creating a comprehensible, top-down explainer of how nations interact with each other. He includes an appropriate amount of historical, cultural, and political context to make his points clear. This is a great primer for adults (And the more precocious young people) at all levels who are interested in getting a grasp on overall context for the stories they see on the news.

For fans of history, politics, and international relations, The World by Richard Haass is the book for you. I studied foreign and domestic politics in college, and this book is a great introduction to the global world and challenges all countries face in the future. The organization and tempo is great, and I feel like I learned a lot.

While this book is definitely not the most thrilling, it is an entirely relevant and necessary read for the younger generations.
