Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
An interesting book not as great as the previous book o read by her as I wasn't quite so invested in the characters or the story.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I really enjoyed this book which is fast paced and thrilling, a book that will keep you interested and turning the pages to the very end. Beth is unhappy in her marraige and when she comes home to find her nanny missing she decides it is time to be honest with her husband Evan. Sometimes honesty is not the best policy as Even decides he will move heaven and earth to ensure he gets his family back. What lengths will he go to..is Beth about to discover another side to Evan and what does another lady, Cath have to do with it all. A brilliant read that will keep you guessing to the last chapter.
This storyline seems exhausted. While I understand the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon of a popular theme, I think its time to give it a rest. While this story had a decent plot, I think I have just read too many similar stories, some that were better thought out that I could not get into this one. If this had been the first of this type of book I had read, I may have liked it more.
A really good psychological thriller. Unfortunately, I haven't read the earlier books, but I will do now. However, it works just as well as a stand-alone. What a thrilling book, so well written with some fabulous characters. Not to be missed..
Two women are poles apart in their lives. One is extremely wealthy, has everything anyone could want. The one thing she lacks is a loving husband, so she has an affair. The other woman is living in near-poverty with an abusive husband.
These women are destined to meet and when they do, they find they have a lot in common... and their lives will forever change.
Although well written, this plot has been done again and again over the years. It seemed to drag in places, maybe because I knew what was coming. The suspense is well paced leading to a not so surprising conclusion.
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Beth is married to Evan who is wealthy, but there seems to be little else to the marriage. She wants to move in with Nick, but it is not going to be easy and there is her young daughter Lily to consider. Cath is married to Saul, who is addicted to drugs and indulges in violent abuse. The scenes describing the abuse make for difficult & depressing reading but are very well written. Beth & Cath meet unexpectedly on the train and are struck by the similarities of their pains.
A violent crime brings Dan into the fray, who tries to piece together the sequence of event and the motive.
The book makes for engrossing reading - only the last few chapters could have been much better.
A detective book that is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. But I bet you want to read the rest after this!
Two women with seemingly different lives. But one similarity. Rotten to the core husbands. Now.....you need to read this, don’t you?! Fabulous. 5/5.
I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley. What a great thriller. I loved the suspense in this book.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The third book in the Detective Dan Reilly series and omg it had me hooked from the first chapter. 2 wives from very separate lives both about to leave very abusive relationships. They don't know each other and wouldn't normally cross paths in their everyday lives but one day they do cross paths and this leads us into a spellbinding plot that actually had me holding my breath in certain parts. A must read for domestic thriller fans and it can easily be read as a stand alone if you haven't already read the other 2 Detective Dan Reilly books. But once you do read this one you will probably be compelled to read the others. Another great book from #anna-louweatherely #thestrangerswife #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookstagram #goodreads #amazon#kindle #bookqueen #netgalley #greatreads #thriller #fictionalboutique
This was an easy to read thriller thaylt kept my attention all the way through! Lots of twists and surprises I didn't see coming. Very good, would recommend! Such a clever story
Second chapter in and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too police focused but it defiantly had the right amount ! A gripping story of two women, two bad situations and a link.....loved it thank you
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy for an honest review.
Does one of these women each with their own abusive husband commit the perfect murder .Will the Detective In charge solve the crime which is turn could implicate his senior colleagues and people in high places or will they get away with it. A good fast read too much detail at times which can be distracting however a clever plot told by each of the main characters.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read and review this title. I will review this title at a different date.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this early copy!
Did not finish - I did not connect with the plot and writing and decided to put it down.
What a gripping story that certainly had me stumped.
There was always something about Beth Lawler that meant you weren't getting the whole truth but at no point could I have guessed the directions this story went in.
I was hooked as everything started to come together.
I loved the police team, and also Catherine's story was gritty and real.
Another incredibly good book from this talented author.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily
The author set the pace from the start and kept it going all the way through. The story alternated between the past and the present. It was told from the view of Beth, Cath and Dan. This was well done and easy to read.
The story is of domestic abuse and the power that the abuser can hold over you. Both these women come from totally different backgrounds, one of riches and one of poverty. Both women are isolated by their abuser, suffering devastating loss at their hands.
The women are both trying to get out of their relationships, but they just cannot break free from the control.
The twist that came was interesting as the two women met on the train and a friendship was formed that would help them break free with some sacrifice.
The stranger’s wife is the third book in the Dan Riley Series, but you can read this as a standalone book. I enjoyed the book and would consider reading the other books in the series.
Many thanks to the author, her publishers and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
The cover and the synopsis led me to believe this would be another suspense/thriller in the vein of the current books I've been reading. They were misleading. Anna Weatherley started with a story that had been told a few times before and mixed in some very original characters to get a very, very good book that will not let you set it down. No breaks from the action once the story heats up and it heats up quickly. This is one of those books you WANT to tell everyone about but you don't want to spoil the surprise so really, all you can say is READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!
This book was ok. A little difficult to keep track what was going on. It took awhile to finish because it couldn’t hold my interest
I really enjoyed The Stranger’s Wife, I was hooked from the first few pages. A great psychological read that deals with physical and emotional abuse. A brilliant book that flowed from the beginning to the end.
