Interesting author, this is a story about his life through Viet Nam, Sotheby's and he ends of Lehman Brothers at the peak of the crisis.
That is actually very well written and shows quite a bit of the author's personality, and he seems to be one of those rare good guys.
It is interesting and seeing things through his eyes.

A well-written story of a life well-lived. Michael Ainslie tells the story of a life so varied it can only be true, from working in Vietnam during the Vietnam War to the galleries and sale rooms of Sotheby's. I found this book incredibly interesting and enjoyable and found the author's insights of the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers from his view as a member of the Board of Directors particularly illuminating.

Never having heard of Michael Ainslie but knew of the collapse of Lehman brothers and its worldwide consequences I was recommended this book.
A unique insight into worldwide organisations such as Sothebys, the culture change and its way forward, Lehman brothers and the ripple effect worldwide from an insiders view.
The challenges of the Posse and USTA. A varied and fulfilled career given in details that will keep you glued to the page.

This was an interesting read about (and by) a man who seems principled and kind, which you don't always find in a memoir that has any connection to Wall St! I confess I thought this was going to be about the financial crisis and his role in the Lehman aspects. In truth, that was a small part. We learn much more about running Sotheby's than anything else. Still, his memoir is engaging and I enjoyed reading about his life. I'm not sure how much adversity he's had to overcome and seems to live a rarefied lifestyle, but he's had a variety of life experiences that would appeal to many.
