I am no longer interested in reading this title. It just doesn't fit with my reading interests at this time. Thank you for the approval at the time of requesting but my reading taste has changed.

Going through my netgalley account and just found the section of books titled Archived, not downloaded. I apparently requested and was approved for this book but I never DLd it and so did not read it. I appreciate the approval and while still interested in the title I am not sure when I will get to read it. If/when I do I will be sure to post a review on Instagram, goodreads, storygraph, and Amazon.

Spellbinding is a fast easy read. I feel like this would be a good book for my daughter to enjoy since the story stays clean, but stays plenty intriguing with magic and boy drama.

I fell off the YA wagon before I got this downloaded, and it no longer appeals to follow up on. Thanks for the opportunity!

This is definitely a book that I would recommend to younger readers, but I still managed to get through it! I'm all for a good cliche (I usually love them), but I don't know what happened here. There was so many that were attempted that I got a bit lost and couldn't focus on the story. Other than, I found my mind wandering a bit while reading because I just wasn't fully engaging. The writing had a lot of promise, but the story didn't quite work for me.

Thanks for the advanced readers copy. I was not able to get into this one, so I won't be proving a review on social media.

Well, I have to admit this one didn't make much of an impression on me. It had a fairly nice story to pull me along, but beyond that I wasn't feeling much.

Let's start with the plot, shall we? I do love a good Salem witch story. With that said, this was an interesting twist to the age old story. There were witches, but probably not in the way you were expecting. For that, I was grateful.

The stereotypes and plot elements you would expect in a YA novel about Salem were in full force. You had the evil, gorgeous cheerleader type causing havoc for the unnoticed nerd girl with a secret crush on the popular boy. Not a shocker there. Said nerd girl discovers there is something unique about her and she takes full advantage of it. Again, not earth shattering. Now, crazy possessed great aunt was a wrench in the plot.

Now, the characters were just so-so. I liked Abby well enough, but I think I liked Rem more. He was mysterious and aloof, which kept me very interested. I also liked the shop owner that Abby worked for. She seemed to have an inside scoop on things that were going on, but no ties to the Salem withces. I thought that was a little too easy at times, but I went with it.

So, it was ok. I enjoyed it, but it didn't make a lasting impression. Would a younger reader enjoy it? Probably.

Spellbinding takes us to contemporary the North Shore of MA and the witches of Salem, MA. Mostly set in high school, we have the descendant of an executed witch and her young daughter who was incarcerated with her. Junior Abby Silva discovers magical abilities and can't resist using them when she is tired of being bullied and ignored. Her longtime crush falls in love with her and the ex-girlfriend learns that Abby can fight back.

Abby also meets Rem Anders, a mysterious and gorgeous boy living independently in Salem, MA. Rem literally takes her to special places around Salem and stresses the dangers of using magic.

As Abby struggles to figure out the right path, she must navigate love and risk to find her own way. I found Spellbinding an engrossing escape that captures the feel of Salem, MA and the North Shore. Abby's high school adventures bring sympathy and I soon found myself cheering for her.

I liked this book ok but it left me thinking that there was so much more that wasn't included. I'm not sure if this is going to be a series or not, but I think it needs to be.

I enjoyed this book. It left me wanting a lot more, though.

I am fascinated with Salem and witches and read everything I can get my hands on including those topics. Spellbinding is not one of my favorites or a book I would revisit. The pacing was a bit choppy and the characters need some more development, especially the side characters.

This book I wasn't able to finish and didn't finish it at all. While it did attract me by the cover sadly this book wasn't for me.

There's something irresistible about the Salem witches and stories related to them. SPELLBINDING by Maya Gold is no exception. Abby's tale is exciting, mysterious, and just a little frightening.
