This was one hell of a ride. I didn’t know who I was rooting for during most of the book but I did towards the end and I love that certain people got what they deserved.
When I Was You is so intriguing, it was at times nerve-wracking, sometimes sad, sometimes downright angering.
I loved Ambers writing style and devoured it!
Simply an amazing book that needs to be read!

That was one heck of a twisted, thrilling ride!!!! Two women with the same name. This book blew my mind. Once you pick this book up you won't be able to put it down. A must read!

This psychological thriller with a unique premise provides a twisty diversion. A bizarre coincidence and a bit of obsession begins a friendship, and then the story starts to unfold. These types of books are best when you don’t know too much about the plot before you dive in.

Excerpt: Then I drove to your house, irritated that you were forcing me to stalk you. It was annoying. I wanted to hang out with you in a non creepy way, but you weren’t allowing it. So, really, this was your fault.”

Lonely, empty nester Kelly Medina becomes obsessed with young mother, Kelly Medina who has just moved to town.

Told intimately in the second person POV in three parts..

Part 1 has two reveals and I guessed both..but that is probably because I read A LOT of thrillers.

Part 2-WAIT! WHAT? I need to back up about 7 pages and read THAT again!

PART 3- The Grand Finale...

Yes, I am being cryptic!!
Because the less you know the better!

This was a fun, (but not too creepy) and engaging read by author Amber Garza “who lives in Folsom, California, which is —no joke—home to another Amber Garza”—according to her author bio! 😉

I was approved for this book on the archive date, so, unfortunately, was unable to read it.
Thanks to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity.

Holy moly, this book was intense! It was so raw and action-packed that I honestly couldn’t put this book down, I was hooked. The writing style was amazing and it’s one of those thrillers where you have your assumptions about who is actually the crazy person or who is doing the bad things and you’re more than likely going to be wrong in your predictions. I know I was!

I definitely get the comparison to the book You by Caroline Kepnes, the second-person narrative makes you feel the characters are directly talking to you or that you are the one seeing everything instead of as a third-party. I feel like this really enhanced the story and made it even more crazy and bizarre.

The ending was a complete shocker, actually the last 100 pages blew me away. The predictions I had made in the beginning were so embarrassingly wrong and was definitely symbolic of Fatal Attraction.

*Thanks so much to Mira Books and NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!*

There is nothing better than a great psychological thriller and this one did not disappoint. I was completely hooked from the first page to the last. I could not put this book down because I need all the answers. It kept me guessing and through in so many great surprises along the way.

Great storyline! Kelly Medina receives a phone call from the doctor’s office reminding her of her upcoming well-baby appointment. Kelly tells the woman that she has the wrong person and the phone numbers must have gotten switched. Her “baby”, Aaron, is 19 and currently in college. I loved this one!

Meet Kelly Medina #1: a new "empty nester." When Kelly #1 gets a phone call from her son's pediatrician to confirm her well-baby appointment, her heart breaks -- her son left for college last year. The receptionist quickly realizes her mistake. There is another Kelly Medina in the same town (Kelly Medina #2), and she must have switched numbers. Kelly #1 cannot stop thinking about Kelly #2 and looks for her everywhere she goes. A chance encounter outside of the pediatricians office, Kelly #1 befriends Kelly #2 and begins to take care of the young woman and her baby boy. But Kelly #1's friendship turns into obsession.

Wow. As a new mother, this book was beyond suspenseful, and I truly could not put it down. This was my first Amber Garza book but certainly won't be my last!

This was pure entertainment with some over the top scenarios and it was dark enough to satisfy most thriller fans. The predictability didn't take away from my enjoyment at all because it was so creepy.

I just could t get into this one. The storyline was unrealistic and I couldn’t wrap my head around the silliness of it.

I loved this novel. I haven't read anything by this author yet, and it won't be my last. If you like thrillers that keep you guessing, then please read this one.

Thank you to the publisher for my copy - all opinions are my own.

This was one of the most devourable, highly addicting reads I've dived into this year. I was HOOKED from the very beginning, and the combination of tense plot, fast moving pace, unreliable narrators and twists that you could never come to expect make this a book that any thriller love NEEDS on their TBR.

Amber Garza is a force when it comes to writing characters who are some delightfully human, complex, flawed and wonderfully unpredictable, and I cannot WAIT to read more from her.

Kelly hasn't had an easy time. Her son's gone to college and she's not adjusting as well as she thought she would to having him gone. So when she receives a fluke phone call from the doctor's office intended for someone with the same name she can't help but to become intrigued.

Her curiosity leads to a friendship that starts bringing Kelly back to her normal self. With her newfound happiness she can't understand why her older friends and family are starting to seem leary of her. Starting to think there's something wrong her. Obviously they must be jealous of her new friend and her fantastic son.

An emotional, heart wrenching and soul baring story of what one woman will do to have the perfect life.

I was recommended to jump into this book blindly and I would say the same for anyone else about to read it. You’re in for a ride and it’s well worth it! It’s got some features of your typical mystery thriller, but not all! That’s hard to come by these days!

Thank you to NetGalley, Amber Garza and Harlequin for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I was really enjoying the obsessive nature of this novel and the main character and then the novel gets so much more interesting in the second part. It was a complete surprise and I loved every minute of it. Most of the characters in this novel have some sort of deep seeded dark issue and there are a lot of secrets kept, but it makes it so much better. I really enjoyed the main characters and how flawed they are. It wasn't a super quick paced novel, but it was a satisfying pace that kept me invested in the novel .

Kelly Medina is a lonely, (previously unhinged), housewife. So, when she mistakenly gets an appointment reminder call from a doctor's office for a baby boy, she can't help but be intrigued. Not only did Kelly used to have a baby boy, (which she longs for again since hers is off at college now), but the mother has Kelly's exact same name.

Kelly befriends the new in town and younger Kelly and in turn becomes rather obsessed with helping her to care for her new baby. When she starts to tell her (mostly absent) husband and her best friend about her new friend, they second guess not only her motives, but her sanity.

You see, Kelly used to be pretty delusional and imaginative when it came to other people.. So really, is the other Kelly Medina even REAL??

This book was a SOLID psychological thriller and the pages just flowed. I could not put it down! Is our main character Kelly really still crazy and imagining things?! This book makes you wonder! My favorite kind of read and this one delivered!

Thank you to NetGalley, Amber Garza and MIRA for this page-turner! Cheers!

Kelly Medina lives in Folsom, CA. She is married with a son. Folsom is a pretty small town where everyone knows everyone. One morning, Kelly gets a call from the pediatrician to confirm the appointment with the doctor for the next day. Only problem is that Kelly's son is 19 years old and wouldn't need a well baby checkup. The mother of the child has the exact same name, Kelly Medina. What are the chances? When she goes to the gym later in the day, this woman has been there as well. Kelly is determined to find out who this woman is and what she is doing in her town. When Kelly sees the woman's child, she thinks he looks just like her son when he was that age. Kelly has been through some mental issues in the past and her friends and family aren't sure they believe her about her new "friend". What will happen when these two women get closer? Will both Kelly's survive?

Thank you to MIRA and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book had me hooked from the very start. I wasn't sure which direction it was going, but I was along for the ride. I had heart palpitations while I was reading this book, you never knew what was coming next. I had no clue how this story was going to end, but WHEW!!!!

There are a lot of elements to this story, like if this other Kelly Medina is a real person or just part of the first Kelly's imagination. You have to read this book to see all the twists and turns this book has. I couldn't put it down.

Thank you @netgalley & the publisher for this quick, wild read!

Kelly vs Kelly; I was immediately intrigued with the synopsis and amazing reviews for this. I have been impatiently the arrival of this tangible book at my library but decided to settle on reading the digital copy when I needed something quick and on-the-go!

This was a little predictable for me, hence the lower rating. I feel like if I was "blown away" by the shock of this like most readers, I would have fancied it a bit more. While I read this in 24 hours, I still felt like I could see where the story was heading, from a mile away.

Great premise! The author did a very well job writing this so a reader would be in suspense chapter, after chapter.
