Every time a discussion of westerns comes up, I am always bemoaning the fact that there aren’t enough, historical or contemporary. So when My One True Cowbody by Soraya Lane crossed my desk, I jumped at the chance to review it.

Being vulnerable is difficult for most people, but guilt and horror can compound the difficulty to an impossibility. Lane has done a good job in showing how Logan cannot forgive himself for surviving the assault on his unit when they had all perished, including his best friend. He atones for living by being the father to his friend’s daughter and a friend to his friend’s wife. She tells him time and again that she holds no grudges against him and that he should forgive himself. But Logan cannot even begin to share his memories with anyone else, including Angelina — for most of the book, he is so far away from absolving himself, that he cannot move forward emotionally towards a full commitment to Angelina.

Angelina has the choice of staying in Texas, finding business opportunities there, and having a halfhearted relationship with Logan or returning to LA, establishing a new company there, and giving up on Logan. Her choices are Difficult and Difficult. What she will do has as much to do with her personality and her mental makeup as it has to do with Logan’s mental health and future prognosis. There cannot be a relationship without honesty and a sharing of minds after all. Lane’s skill lies in showing how Angelina and Logan work on their individual issues and how they come together to trust one another and move forward as a couple.

Angelina Ford has come home because her father is sick and everyone believes he is sicker than what he is telling everyone. Now home she is also keeping a secret from her father and her family she is feeling disappointed in herself and her business which has failed. Now she does not know how to tell everyone.
Meanwhile, Logan her best friend and now running the family farm is back home from the military and when they finally met up and start catching up, they run into an issue of a life long attraction to each. Do they act on it and if so, will it change their friendship?
With all of the different characters and the storyline between all of the characters this story will keep you going from start to finish with the different storylines all of the good. With also a very good ending. A very good book.

My One True Cowboy by Soraya Lane is another wonderful addition to the River Ranch series. This is Angelina Ford’s the Ford eldest daughter’s story. It is realistic, dramatic with angst as she remakes her life.

Angelina return home but doesn’t tell her family why; just a short visit is all. I get this older sister with her need to be independent, in charge and respected by the rest of the family. She helps, not needs help. So much the older sibling that it is also a handicap for her, now that her work dream has shattered where so much of her self-esteem is found. Another shattered soul is returning veteran, Logan Brody, her former friend. His struggles are so much worse than hers but the friendship is still there.

“Friends to lovers” is one of my favorite tropes. With all the struggles Brody and Angelina have it is not a surprise that they also struggle makes the transition. Much of the story is the push and pull between these two. True love or friends with benefit, for much of the book is a toss up of how it will go.

If one is new to the series they may think that they shouldn’t start with this book. I think that Angelina is such a minor supporting character, coming and going so fast in the previously published series that it won’t hurt the reading of this story if it is the first to be read. It stands very well on its own as Angelina’s and Brody’s story. So go ahead and read it, no matter the order.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An incredibly sweet, heart wrenching story of two trouble people. Each needing to find happiness but not knowing how to move on until they realize they have each other. Beautifully written and a very enjoyable story that lets you dream of their HEA.
There is an issue on how it was formatted for me, you would be reading about one character and with no warning, like a paragraph or a break in sentences, your into the next character and scene. Needs something to differentiate the story is switching to another character. Hope that gets fixed before publishing.

Logan and Angelina were best friends when in school and managed to remain in touch even though life took them on different paths. Now they are both back home to heal and find a way forward.
Sparks fly when they meet again but neither wants to jeopardize their friendship, but attraction so strong is hard to ignore.
This is a lovely romance with some well written, strong characters you can’t help but root for. I think Logan and Angelina were perfect for each other. They both had to lose their baggage before reaching their HEA, and their journey was heartwarming and sweet.

Angelina falls in love with Logan!

Angelina Ford has returned to River Ranch to visit for Father’s Day but really it is to lick her wounds after the company that she had created had collapsed and she needed to regroup and figure out her next plan. Angelina’s best friend, Logan Brody had retired from the military to take over his parents’ ranch but he returned with a retired military dog named Ella.

Angelina isn’t the warmest character in the other books of the series but in My One True Cowboy, the reader finally gets to know her and find out that she has a hard time showing love with even her own family but she does it in her own way. Logan finally figured out that Angelina was worth everything even giving her a little space.

You need to read all the books in the River Ranch series if you want some good contemporary romance with a western feel. Plus I love Ella!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. I hadn’t read the other ones. But I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. Angelina Ford was all business...until she wasn’t and she headed home. While she was home and trying to act like everything was ok, she ran into her best-friend Logan.

We watch as these two try and navigate new territory. We watch as these two keep things from each other and we watch as their relationship blooms into something so much more.

It’s a feel good story that will make your heart so happy.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing my free advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions in this review are all my own.

Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for this free ARC! The review is my own.

Angelina & Logan were best friends growing up ... and both left town after high school. I love a good old friends, new spark romance. This was very well done. While this is probably considered a stand-alone, I would highly recommend that readers read the series in order!

This has everything that I love but the characters failed to connect with me. I liked the author and the series and have enjoyed reading about this family but Angelina and Logan is held on to the past and had a hard time finding their future together.

The time is finally right for this beautiful friends-to-lovers romance!

Angelina Ford is only home long enough to spend time with her terminally ill father and to regroup after losing her business in LA. Running into her best friend, Logan, spins her in an entirely different direction. Their friendship takes a decidedly adult turn, making it difficult to find the friendship they've always depended on.

Logan is back on his family's ranch after a devastating retirement from the military. He's not ready to talk about, much less face, his demons, so he hesitates to push Angelina into sharing hers. Their delicate dance around protecting their hearts and their pride was beautifully written, with honesty and authenticity that brings the story to life.

This is the fourth book in the series, the final Ford sibling to find lasting love. All the others are here, taking their places in the family's legacy as their father's decline starts nearing its final stage. Walter is still a formidable force, however, and still has plenty to say about his eldest daughter's successes and failures. I loved the solid family dynamics portrayed here, even in the face of impending tragedy.

Logan and Angelina find a unique path to their HEA, one that works for them while respecting their differences. I loved this book as much as I've loved the earlier ones. Altogether they are an epic family saga, one that I know I'll read again and again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this one more than I did, it had all of the elements I have loved in the past. But, much like Mia's story, there was something about Angelina's story that didn't quite connect and I found myself struggling to finish it. Between Angelina and Logan there were so many issues that I wasn't sure they would ever get past them. Logan is struggling after losing his best friend during war, Angelina is struggling with the failure of her business. Logan had my sympathy (at times), Angelina was just frustrating. I understood her wanting time to lick her wounds, but the way she treated and avoided the people that love her was frustrating to me. At times, they were both so stubborn that I wanted to smack them upside the head...but I guess it all worked out for the best.

Ella was great though - there should have been more Ella.

My One True Cowboy, by Soraya Lane is the fourth book in the River Ranch series. This was an interesting story about two people who needed time and each other to heal. It is well written and has fully developed characters. This is Angelina and Logan’s story. This story features the fearsome, elusive, independent, strong Ford sibling, Angelina. We discover that her California executive career world is no more, but she doesn’t want to tell her family what has happened in her life, as she feels like a failure. So, she returns home to lick her wounds and visit with her father who is terminally ill with cancer. In the other books in this series, Angelina was always stand-offish, and harsh. It was interesting to watch her growth and transformation develop in this story. Logan Brody is emotionally damaged after his multiple military deployments and this experience has changed him. He has brought home his team’s service dog Ella. She is an utter joy in the story and steals my heart. Angelina and Logan were childhood friends but have drifted apart over the years. Both are not the same people that they were, but they find that they have similar feelings of being broken and seek out each other to talk and offer comfort. They discover that there is a spark and that their friendship is moving towards something else. I found this story interesting and different. It was full of drama (sometimes too much), but it smoothed out in the end. I recommend it and thank NetGalley for my ARC.

This isn't so much a second chance romance as a friends to lovers with an HEA- and it's a good one. Angie has come home to Texas after a big kerplooey in her work life (and her personal life, well, that wasn't so good either). Logan's come home after multiple deployments; he's brought his service dog Ella (love Ella). They were childhood friends but haven't seen each other for years so you know, don't you, that when they meet in the grocery store, that there will be a grownup spark. The characters are good, the plot is nicely sweet, and it's just a genuinely positive read. Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier books as this is fine as a standalone. I'm a fan. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Two people who have been friends since childhood suddenly cross that line into something more with their relationship. But neither seem comfortable with this change because of secret issues they were both having in their life. While Logan seemed more accepting of where their relationship was going, I found Angelina’s indecisiveness frustrating especially since she was portrayed as a strong minded and strong willed character. The story did draw a tear from me towards the end. No action and mildly steamy. I haven’t read the others in this series but I didn’t feel like I missed anything.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

I always enjoy visiting the Texas ranch that Soraya Lane has created for us. The Ford siblings have been interesting and entertaining, but probably the most elusive and the one I was most interested in hearing her story is Angelina.

Angelina has been in California living and following her dreams. She's always the sibling that comes home just long enough and then heads back to bury herself in her work again. She never spends extended periods at home and while she wants to be independent, it's very much at the cost of her relationships. When her world in California begins to crumble around her, she heads home to the ranch, but has no intention of telling anyone why she's really there. She tells them she's there to visit for Father's Day.

Logan Brody has recently returned from war and he's not the same man that left. The things he saw and experienced have changed him and he's struggling now that he's back home. He now looks out for his best friend Brett's widow and daughter, but outside of his dog Ella, he's really not living life.

Angelina and Logan used to be best friends, but they've lost touch over the years. When they reconnect in the grocery store of all places, they realize that they need one another's friendship now more than ever. They are both struggling with different things and when they turn to one another for comfort, will it ignite feelings that they both have felt over the years, but never spoke of or will it end what has been a wonderful friendship?

I really enjoyed this story and these two characters. They both had baggage and things to work through, but those struggles were the reason that they eventually came together. I've enjoyed all of these books and if you haven't had a chance to read this series, I'd recommend it.

Having not read any of the previous stories in this series it was nice to be able to follow the characters and jump right in without needing a lot of background.
That being said, I was a little conflicted by Angelina and Logan’s story. I wasn’t sure that I really liked them as a couple. They both had baggage that they were bringing back to their friendship. Neither one of them wanting to confide in each other and talk though it. Sometimes Logan was downright mean to Angelina. Several times, I thought her reaction to his nasty tone was not what it should be. She’d say “ha ha” or continue to be tormented by Logan’s nastiness. But she keeps coming back. This drawn out back and forth was a little off-putting.
This was definitely an emotional read. I wanted to cry several times from Logan’s and also Angelina’s heartfelt moments. But, I didn’t feel like those moments were offset by enough happy moments.
That’s why I gave this 3 stars.

I am not a big cowboy romance fan but this was a solid romp of a story with some sweet and searing moments of passion and affection.

My One True Cowboy is the fourth book in Soraya Lane’s River Ranch, and I have anxiously awaited Angelina’s story. That said, I’m a little torn by the need for angst and drama when a couple has a past, and the extremely toxic relationship that was portrayed between Angelina and Logan. Yelling and screaming at each other one minute and then going at it like rabbits the next was a little mind blowing when it occurred on a daily cycle. So, while the plot was good, the constant back and forth between the leads was disconcerting at best. I like this series but was disappointed with his book.

I love this series by author Soraya Lane & I think she saved the best for last. This book was very emotional & I should’ve taken out stock in Kleenex before starting it. I always wondered about Angelina & why she was so harsh & dare I say crusty in the other books but now I understand. Her world rocked not once or twice but three times has had a hardening effect on her & running into her best friend Logan is turning her upside down. Logan’s not the same after his tours in the Army & seeing the damages & the losses incurred including his best friend. Both are hiding from something but when together it doesn’t matter. Their passion & chemistry is incredible, as is their stubbornness to let the other in. When they finally break through it’s beautiful & swoon worthy as Logan makes his real feelings known & when Angelina finally accepts that it’s real& true, it’s fantastic. I LOVED this book. I think the only thing that would’ve made it over the top for me was to see them start a family, I actually think they’d be great parents. Thank you to the publishers for allowing me to read this ARC through Net Galley for an honest review. Definitely recommend to read this book & the series.
