I always love cookbooks that allow the use of a minimal amount of ingredients for the maximum amount of flavor. The 5-Ingredient Fresh & Easy Cookbook by Shelia Thigpen accomplishes that task very well as her recipes uses fresh ingredients to create meals with the maximum amount of flavor. Also, five ingredient recipes are a snap to make as you can start cooking without a lot of fussing over ingredient prep.

I LOVED how she included a Sample Weekly Meal Plan as sometimes I am stumped when it comes to meal planning. Here's a sample using Saturday's suggested meal plan:

Breakfast
Sourdough French Toast with Maple Berry Syrup
Lunch
Spinach Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette
Dinner
BBQ Pork Sandwich with Pickled Red Onions
Easy Barbecue Sauce with Molasses

Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Crustless Italian Sausage Quiche
Zesty Chicken Salad
Rosemary Dijon Chicken Skillet
Street Corn Salad
Warm Apple Baked Brie
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Mousse

Recommend.

I love cookbooks that use little ingredients or makes a lot of food off a few bucks. This cookbook is wonderful. Heads up, you may need some extra ingredients like salt or oil so it’s sometimes a few more ingredients. However the recipes are super easy to follow (just read once through before you start cooking) and all sound delicious. I personally can’t wait to make Italian Grilled Cheese Panini.

So many good and simple recipes here. It even if you have a lot of ingredient-light go-tos, they tend to get repetitive. There were a lot of great ideas here and nothing too complex, perfect weeknight meals. All are really healthy too.

This is great collection of simple and easy recipes. I particularly like the way the book is divided into sections. The recipes are easy to follow. The tips for the kitchen are great. As a mom of kids who are involved in sports, these recipes will come in handy. I'm not a fan of fast food on a regular basis and this is a great alternative to still have home cooking when things run late. This is a cookbook that should be in every cook's collection!

This cookbook contains more than 90 easy, made from scratch recipes consisting of 5 main ingredients (not including staples such as spices). The wide variety of recipes are sectioned into: One Pot, Make Ahead, No Cook, Easy Classics, and Reinvention (which uses a leftover ingredient). The book includes a sample weekly menu, then chapters for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Sides, Snacks, and Dessert. This is a great resource for a beginner cook and a nice resource for experienced cooks wanting to add some variety to their go-to meals while avoiding processed foods. Thanks go to NetGalley and Rockridge Press for proving a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Callito Media/Rockbridge Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I was excited about this book. 5 ingredients!! Cool I live on a very small island in the South Pacific and often have no fresh veggies or a lot of ingredients. But sadly most of the recipes had more than 5 ingredients. I can't make a lot of these as I have no oven! Lol. I was excited by some of these recipes so will try them. Maybe one day I will have an oven! I rate this a 3.
