I loved the characters in this book as well as the plot. The ending was superb and such a fast paced book. The writing style kept me engaged all the way through. Cant wait to read more of her books.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. This is the tenth book I have read by this author. It had a different feel to it than the rest, but I was still intrigued. I thought I had most of the book figured out, but I was still surprised at the end.

LOVED it!!!! Catherine McKenzie is one of my favorite authors. I always get excited when she has a new book out. Her books just keep getting better and better and never disappoint. This book was awesome- the story, characters and writing style. Who knew Jessica Williams was such a popular name? If I ever meet one I will not play the Jessica Williams game and will hide my phone. This book is full of twists and turns. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, the book took a detour and everything would change. Jessica One was amazing. All the planning that went into everything was unreal. I really had no clue what was really happening. The ending was everything. I was completely shocked (in a good way)!!! Never would have guessed the ending. It was perfect. The addition of the cult just added to the mystery of the characters. The cult and the leader were crazy enough and then add in a bunch of Jessica Williamses with the same birthday and an evil person who likes to manipulate people and steal their money and you have a great book. What type of parents would have their children living at the cult and make them endure that lifestyle?? The parents were separated from the children and didn't even live with them.

Definitely recommend the book. It was the perfect mystery/thriller. Pretty much everything is not how it looks and the characters will keep you guessing throughout the book. I look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Lake Union Publishing through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"You Can't Catch Me." Was an incredibly bland thriller/suspense novel for me. It centers on identity theft. The main character, Jessica Williams, gets conned by a woman with the same name and birth date. The rest of the book is Jessica 'one' trying to find Jessica 'two' that stole all of her money. I felt detached from the characters, and the story didn't seem to go anywhere most of the time. Then, the ending was just "whatever" for me. Unfortunately, It wasn't very exciting or even all that interesting in my opinion.

4.5 stars

Jessica Williams is a disgraced reporter who ends up getting scammed out of a lot of money by another Jessica Williams. She ends up tracking down down other Jessica Williams that have also been scammed.

There is so much more but I don’t want to give anything away. So many twists that I did not see coming. There is a lot of interesting background on Jessica One growing up in a cult and how she acclimated to society after escaping.

A well written book with lots of unexpected surprises and great characters. Highly recommend reading You Can’t Catch Me.

Catherine McKenzie has become one of my favorite authors to read, and this book was no different. She has a knack for taking subjects that are different, that I would never even think about, but making them interesting. This is NOT another book about a woman and her missing/abusive/lying husband, which is refreshing!

Jessica Williams has had a rough upbringing- she grew in a very rural cult community. She was able to escape right before her 18th birthday, and a large paycheck from writing about her experience meant she didn’t have to worry about money for a while. In the airport bar on the way to a tropical getaway, she meets another woman with the same name. When she returns from her trip, she finds her life has been turned upside down, and now she must find the other Jessica Williams to get her life back.

I was hooked from the beginning, and was guessing until the end. Don’t miss this book!!

I felt in a bit of a book slump the other night. Mainly due to my mind being on other things. So on my third attempt I picked up this. And boy am I glad I did.
This book is incredible. It’s charming and witty and also covers quite a dark subject matter. There’s even some stalking and cults!! My favourite topics to read about. Brilliant and loveable main characters. A few secrets and suspenseful moments too. The absolute perfect read. Highly recommend to even cheer you up in these heavy times xxx

4-5 stars! This was one of those reads that had me teetering in the edge of my seat at the high stakes, tension, and fast paced writing it had, but other times it was just a tad too slow for me too. I think overall it is very well written, with characters that are developed in a manner that will blow you away, and the intriguing plot of cults mixed in only furthers the thrills and chills! I highly recommend to those looking for a good thriller, with an interesting premise and a fantastic lead! Highly recommend!
Will make sure I buzz it up on the different platforms!

Catherine is once again hitting it out of the park with another book! I loved being able to read and review this book ahead of its release! This book had me on the edge of my seat and I didn’t know how it was going to end! I love when books are like that. The characters in this book and the crazy story will have you wondering what you just read and wanting more!

I love Catherine McKenzie's writing and her gift for developing creative and compelling storylines, so I began this book with high hopes and expectations. I admit I had a moment's pause when the idea that an investigative journalist would be so easily sucked into a game of 20 questions made me cringe; however, the level of stress that character would have been feeling given her life circumstance at that moment, coupled with her alcohol consumption, could make anyone a little off their game, so I continued reading. Having read all of this author's titles, I knew Ms. McKenzie would redeem herself by the end of the book, and she did not disappoint. I love when a book can surprise me, and the shocking twist at the end certainly did! Highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

This book was my first that I read that was written fit McKenzie- and definitely not my last! It was enjoyable to read and thrilling. My only complaint is that it just seemed really long to me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

In You Can't Catch Me we follow Jessica Williams, she was raised in a cult called LOT or Land Of Todd. Jessica escapes the cult and is adjusting to life in the real world and is doing well for herself until she is fired from her writing job for plagiarism. Hoping to get away from the stress and all the unwanted press she is receiving after losing her job she decides to get away, spend some time alone and figure out how she is going to put her life back together. Things can't get any worse, right? While waiting for her flight in a airport bar she meets another Jessica Williams, not only does this woman have the same name, she also has the same birthdate. Jessica will soon learn that things can get much worse after this other Jessica steals everything from her bank accounts. She then comes up with a plan to track this woman down and get her money back. This book has many twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I enjoyed the story very much, but I wish a few things were different with the ending.

Thank you for this early copy! I have enjoyed all of Catherine's previous books to date, and You Can't Catch Me joins them. She has a way of making each book different from the previous one. Keeping track of the characters took a bit of concentration on my part, but once I made a few notes, I was able to enjoy the twists. Overall, thumbs up!!!

I was very excited to dig into another one of Catherine McKenzie's suspenseful psychological thrillers! I always think I can figure out what is happening - but I can't! The pages kept turning with deep old dark secrets, stolen identities, an unimaginable back story and lots of twists. Jessica Williams has many lives it would seem ...you won't guess how this all happened...and the ending - well - it will keep you thinking and wanting more. I can't wait for Catherine's next book!

Stolen identity times 3, this mystery, thriller was engaging and a quick read. There were portions that were a little slower pacing wise, and I found myself skimming to get through to the next action section. I liked the concept and premise and the ending was satisfying as well. Lots of twists, and recommend for a quick, mystery read. Thank you for the ARC! I enjoyed it very much!

Wow. This is Catherine McKenzie at her best. A true page turner from the start.. Jessica one meets Jessica two at a airport bar, a week later Jessica Two has stolen her identity. A twisted tale follows and I could not turn the pages fast enough

How far would you go to get revenge? This tale digs into just that thought as one woman chases another who coincidentally shares the same name. How common is that?

After a chance meeting at a bar, Jessica discovers that her bank account has been drained and there’s not much the police can do to help her. So the chase is on to catch the "other" Jessica and get her money back!

This was my first read by Catherine McKenzie although I have several of her earlier books on my to be read shelf. There were quite a few twists, but I really wasn’t invested in the characters and the romance that crops up. The ending was a surprise to me and even though I didn’t love this one, I will still read future books by this author.

Two women named Jessica Williams walk into a bar.

Sitting beside each other is not an accident.

One was once a child, rescued from a CULT. She is not willing to be anyone’s
VICTIM again...especially not a grifter’s.

I am a huge fan of this author having read almost every one of her ten books, but I was not a fan of this book.

Perhaps this time it’s a case of “It’s me, not you” !

I don’t enjoy stories about CULTS, or GRIFTERS, so, this book probably did not stand a chance with me!

If you enjoy these subjects, it just may work for you, as other reviewers have given this 5 stars, and I can admit the ending was CLEVER and SURPRISING!

Unfortunately though, I just didn’t enjoy getting there, as I didn’t connect with our protagonist, or care about the outcome at all.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and the talented Catherine McKenzie for the digital ARC, I received in exchange for a candid review!

This title will be released on June 9, 2020.

I’ve been following Catherine McKenzie since her very first book, but I haven’t like her last few books quite as much as her first five. They felt...generic to me - still very readable, but not anything special. I still picked up this one as a habit - and what a pleasant surprise! All the thrills, and twists, and quirkiness of her first books were back! The main narrator has got everything: a dark backstory, a scandal, a revenge quest, a knight in shining armor...and you get fully engaged in her narrative until you start feeling that maybe there’s something not quite right 90% through the book. It’s the perfect balance between her engaging heroines of the author’s early career and the thriller path she’s on currently. I highly recommend it.

It was also the perfect and exact length for my 2 1/2 hour flight, so that was also a nice bonus.
