The Hammer Falls is one of those great lazy Sunday novels; you can enjoy the characters and plot without worrying too much about expansive worldbuilding or genre-breaking developments. The protagonists are interesting enough to keep you engaged in their struggles, and the story moves along quickly, with action taking the place of too much exposition and growth. Blending bits and pieces from The Running Man, Idiocracy and Altered Carbon, The Hammer Falls is a easy-to-read story that, while not groundbreaking, should be picked up for a lounge on the beach or a restful afternoon in a hammock.
