I wasn’t too sure about the subject matter when I read the description of this book. How could anyone make frozen embryos interesting? I should have known that Karen Kingsbury can make any subject heartfelt and interesting. So I finished the book in 6 hours because it was so good.
The Baxter’s are like our own family so when something happens to them, we really feel it. That would explain the tears I had during portions of the book. It would be hard for any of us to know how we feel if we received the news that Maddie did. I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone. Just be ready for a great read by Ms Kingsbury and have your tissues close by.
I received the arc of this from NetGalley.

I so enjoyed this book, Karen Kingsbury has the ability to make stories so much more emotional then most authors can. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the story line. I had not read one of her books in sometime. I am very happy I was granted to read this early. I am going to go back and reread some more of my favorites by her.

Life going nicely and as expected
Health needs forces sacrifice and change.
One quick and joyful moment/decision leads to devastation requiring more change and decisions.

Jesus was there with them,
God in all His mercy, had given Jesus

Frozen embryos are started in one body to one petri dish but formed and grows in another.
Decisions are made- decisions are reflected on- decisions are made for the future.
Prayers are prayed- prayers are reflected on- prayers are made for the future.
Scripture is shared, and reflected on.

I have followed the Baxter Family story for years.
This or any Baxter Family book can be read as a standalone, but be prepared to become a fan
and you will want to read the entire series and any other book that Karen authors.
I am looking forward to next book I can read by Karen!

In defense of this book, I am not an avid Christian fiction fan. So that could have something to do with what I’m about to say.

I strongly disliked this book. It felt out of touch with reality. It felt like it was attempting to be deep but just came across as vapid. The characters seemed shallow and poorly developed and I guessed the ending in the first third of the book. The spirituality lacked substance and seemed very unrealistic.

Overall, not my cup of tea. But this easily could have been a qualm with the genre as a whole. And not this specific book.
