This book sounded good, and the overall reading experience was alright, but following some of the recipes would be a little more difficult because they were mainly from the country's different regions. Not all of the ingredients are available to everyone. I still found it entertaining, and it gave me ideas for trying something different when making tacos instead of the same regular ones I make for my family, so that is a plus.
Well 2 of the best things in 1 book! Love me some Tacos, Love me some Tequila (or drinks with it in it). This was a fun book. First there are lots of tacos I want to try and also these drinks! I feel a girls night coming on with some good tacos and tequila. I like that it is all of the world and that you learn some interesting tidbits as you go. Definitely made me hungry and thirsty.
A really nifty cookbook concept. I love tacos of any sort, so this drew my eye immediately. While I'm not a huge tequila fan, I enjoyed reading about the different pairings that were suggested. I love the photos (cookbooks need more photos IMO), and the awesome variety of recipes from meat to cauliflower tacos. Definitely recommend for the taco fan.
Great book, great recipes. My husband is from Mexico and we have enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the Tequila talk section and liked how the book was divided in to west, south, midwest and east chapters.
The title hits what this cookbook is all about: Tequila and Tacos! I love tacos so I was excited to check out this book. There were a few that I would love to try! Some were a little too intensive for me, but if you enjoy making taco or TexMex food, you would like this book. There was some good information on Tequila and some great drink recipes.
As a lover of all foods Mexican, I gobbled up this book. Full of recipes from restaurants from around the US, it highlights all the regional spins on Mexican cuisine.
The recipes are unique and appetizing, the photographs were plentiful and appetizing. I will definitely be purchasing this book to add to my collection!

Tequila and Tacos is a compellation of some of the countries best restaurants and their taco recipes along with tequila cocktails. The book is laid out in four sections focusing on restaurants in the west, south, midwest and east. I grew up in the southwest and tacos and tequila are a staple in our recipe rotations so I was excited to check out this cookbook for new inspiration. I was a bit disappointed because the selection did not feel new or inventive, cocktails were fairly basic. The biggest stretches are taco shells made from nori. The recipes are easy enough to follow and the photography is nice.
Unfortunately I was unable to download this book for review. Due to the error I am leaving only a moderate rating of 3/5.
This book was really interesting. It has lots of recipes/cooking techniques and information about tequila and taco varieties around the country.
This book was so fascinating. I loved reading about the different dishes and drinks that each restaurant has. Each one was so unique. Many of these recipes were not feasible to make at home based on the ingredients, but they were fascinating regardless.
Go ahead -- judge this book by its cover (which is breathtakingly beautiful.) This is a fun book, whether or not you're a cook. Perhaps you're planning a road trip, and want some ideas for culinary stops along the way. Perhaps you want to expand the possibilities when you order locally. Perhaps, like me, you know very little about tequila and will be fascinated at the variety and complexity.
The writing is stellar, as are the photos.
I loved this book so much in the Kindle edition that I am buying it for myself in hardcover, and perhaps for a couple of friends as well, for gifts.
Thanks to NetGalley and Tiller Press for an advance readers copy.
Compelling and eye-catching design, striking photos, and loads of good information for a not-so-informed tequila person.
What a fun book! Insight into where and how tequila is made and what makes a taco a taco. Can’t wait to make the Cafe de Olla Boracho or the cactus salsa.
I would not recommend this book to be in a classroom, a bookstore, or anywhere else. I struggled with the fact that the author was a white woman explaining Mexican and Latinx history, food, and culture. In today's world, I expect that we are doing better than this and using #ownvoices in all areas of publishing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tiller Press for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
4/5 Stars.
I'd like to start by saying that I'm hard-pressed to find a better combination than tequila and tacos, and this cookbook is the perfect example of why that combination works so well. Cobbs begins with a lesson on the different forms of tequila, mezcal, and agave spirits. It's interesting to read about all varieties and I've now added a few new drinks to the list of spirits I need to try.
The recipes are split into regions (West, South, Midwest, and East) with each region providing both cocktail and taco recipes. It is important to know that this book contains recipes from various restaurants in U.S. cities. Cobbs provides not only easy-to-follow recipes from these restaurants but an explanation of the name, recipe, restaurant, or chef behind these amazing creations!
This book is a great collection of recipes from restaurants across the U.S.
I LOVE THIS. I’m not one to read cookbooks, though I’ve been getting better but this one was a Breeze! I really enjoy both tacos and margs so it’s was AMAZING. Can’t wait to make them!
Tequila and Tacos are a pairing that brings together many peoples’ favorite things - tacos and tequila. Katherine Cobbs starts with a primer on standard types of tacos, origins with influences, and the cooking techniques. Then the book is divided into regions and the restaurants that originated some unique tacos and tequila drinks. Some of my favorite selections include Big Star’s Walking taco, The Batanga, and The Eight Row Flint Brussels Sprouts taco, and T27 Grand Rouge. The recipes in Tequila and Tacos are for vegans and meat lovers alike. They are diverse with many flavor profiles that may not be traditional but nevertheless are delicious. This book is for people who love tacos and tequila and could benefit from chefs who have perfected food and drink creations across the USA.
Although I was provided with an advance copy from Net Galley, all opinions are my own.
The book title literally says it all… Tequila & Tacos. Two of the best things to ever be consumed!
Tequila and Tacos covers everything about…. tequila and tacos. It was filled with information about the tequila and the tequila making process, taco lingo and, what truly matters, the types of quesos. The book featured restaurants and their recipes and was broken up by region. Each restaurant had an informational page and a recipe or two.
These recipes clearly added an intensive depth to the simplicity and ease of this yummy staple! If you’re a fan of Tequila or Tacos and are looking to up your Taco Tuesday game, this book was written for you!
Many of us have some sense of how to pair red or white wines with meats, seafood, and cheeses, but other spirits are often not so carefully considered. This guide attempts to change that by thinking through all the components of both your tacos and the beverages (both tequila-based and not) that you drink with them.
This book is very informative, offering concise descriptions of ingredients and styles of tacos. It then explores the regional variations on tacos in the US by getting recipes from a number of restaurants in the West, South, Midwest, and East. The people that constantly turn up their noses at any and every restaurant in the US as not being authentic (even when operated by a crew of people from Mexico) should probably move along here, since there are taco recipes that call for meatballs and Japanese eggplants and pickled ramps, but if you're venturing outside your culinary comfort zone, you might get some inspiration.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.
I love to cook, and I love Mexican food. Because of these two reasons, I was so excited to read this cookbook! I loved the photos. I think when writing a cookbook, all you need is good photos, clear instructions, and great recipes which Tequila and Tacos have. I hope people pick this up and make tasty meals and great drinks!
