This is the third in Sarah Graves’ Death by Chocolate mystery series but it can be read as a stand alone. Jake Tiptree has changed her profession from renovator to bakery shop owner, partnering with her best friend Ellie. Of course, Ellie is also Jake’s partner-in-solving-crimes. This series is well-written with characters that you wish were your real-life friends. The Maine shoreline is the perfect setting for a mystery that is both lively and engaging. I can’t wait for the next in this series.
This is my first time to read a book from this author. I am very pleased. This book is fast paced with a nice plot and a great roster of well-developed characters.
This series makes me happy and this book didn't let me down. It's a fun, fast paced cozy with enjoyable characters. I love the setting and who doesn't love chocolate?!
Mmm Chocolate, who can resist. The addition of all the sailing details make for a fun and fast read that's a great introduction to this series for me. I will be going back and reading the rest.
Jake and Ellie run the Chocolate Moose bakery in Eastport, Maine,
When celebrity TV food critic Henry Hadlyme deliberately goads Jake into an argument when he criticises her food and bakery, she never expects to find him dead in her cellar - stabbed by her ex-husband's antique cutless.
The search for the real killer will take Ellie, Jake and their families into the dark heart of some of the residents of their small coastal town and a deadly conspiracy. Friends they have helped quickly become deadly enemies.
Fun, energetic and packed with sailing details, this is a contemporary lively family based mystery with real heart.
