I was asked by NetGalley to review this book, gosh this packed a punch. This thriller is set in Scotland and is so terrifying.

After an horrific tragedy as a child, Flora is finally happy with her husband. they want to adopt a child and Beckie seems to fit what they want and they think this is meant to be. But then Beckie birth family say she is stolen but Flora is not giving up.

There is so many twists and turns the reader is on a rollercoaster journey with scottish dialects and a lot of swearing!

A good gripping story with believable characters. Did get a little bit predictable in parts but this didn’t detract from my enjoyment

Watch Over Me by Jane Renshaw was an excellent book with lots of twists and turns throughout. It did start off slowly then Bang - I was hooked and wanted more. I highly recommend this psychological thriller. Stick with it and the ending was brilliant!

This book was filled with suspense and was creepy.
The ending and the twist were amazing.

Very hard for me to get through as there was an excessive use of f***. The story could have been told and would have been better without it.

This was the second book by this talented author I've read, and she will be one of my favorites going forward. The book might not be everybody's taste, but I enjoyed it, and will read some more in future. Recommended

Good story but what a slog. I kept picking up and putting down, gave up started again, gave up started again. I found this terribly hard going and to be honest boring.

I struggled with this book until about three quarters of the way through and then it picked up. The ending and twists were fantastic but it was a long hard slog to get there.

Work required on the beginning of the book or condense it do it does not drag as much. Would probably not read this author again based on this one book

I couldn't really get past the start of this book...a lot of choice language, which I don't usually mind. However it was just a bit over the top.

A very slow burner, a few good twists, but nothing spectacular.

Took me awhile to get through this I don't. Was hard to finish. Well written but just not for me though I did enjoy the characters, it was the story line I had a hard time following.

As I do appreciate having the chance to renew this, I do have to say that I did not like this book. Whatsoever. The writing style drove me absolutely nuts and made it very hard for me to read it. I also could not bring myself to enjoy this and would not recommend this.

Took me a while to get into this book but I'm glad I persevered as I really enjoyed it parts tugged on the heat strings with many twists and turns

I am of two minds about this book. As an adoptive parent, the plot resonated with me a great deal: an abused child is adopted by a model middle class Scottish couple. Her birth family, the Johnsons, plan revenge and will doing anything to get their daughter back, including murder. But then the plot starts to make some very unbelievable jumps and that detracts from my enjoyment and attention. Yes, the Johnsons are diabolical and there is a lot of tradecraft into how people can hack into your identity and represent themselves as someone else. That part I liked. But their thick Scottish accent was a bit much to deal with -- and since I read an advance galley as an ebook I didn't know of the glossary in the back of the book that would have helped as I was plowing through their thick dialog and odd word usage. Still, taken as a whole, this is an intriguing mystery and the parts that are realistic and believable outweigh the others.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! What you think is a story about a family coming together turns into a book about a family fighting to stay together. It is psychological, twisty, and so well written!

This was a very interesting story told mostly from the perspective of the adoptive family. I could really understand their concerns and sympathized with them. The chapters featuring Becki’s biological family were extremely interesting but they lacked clarity; it was very confusing to read at times. And that was a huge issue with the novel as a whole: so many things needed clarification, and there were many abrupt jumps to a new scene, making it hard to follow along. It ended up being a very frustrating experience for me. This novel has quite a bit of Scottish slang in it, which I had no problem with – but the translations were at the very end of the book, which can be annoying to flip to when you’re reading.

Wow!!! Where to even start with this book! I was absolutely gripped just reading the prologue!!!!!
I did find the Scottish slang took me quite awhile to be able to read smoothly... but once I got into it.... I couldn’t stop!

A psychological thriller with twists and turns in the plot - it kept me intrigued and entertained - language can be pretty foul at times and to be honest sometimes spoiled the reading to an extent but it's gritty and original.
