This author does it again! The thrill ride she takes the reader on is epic. I thought I had figured out who did it just to be whipped around again and again until the ending I didn't see coming. I read a lot of thrillers and it is hard to stump me. Highly Recommend.
I think Megan Miranda books are such fun thrillers. They aren’t really 5 star reads for me, but they are bingeable and I always enjoy my time reading them. This one is about Olivia, a woman in her 20s who spent 3 days trapped in a pipe when she was 6. She became famous for being a survivor, but left her past behind when she became an adult. Until a body shows up from that past. This story was so compelling that I read it in 24 hours, a rare thing for me these days.
I will admit, this one started out a bit slow. At first it felt like I had missed the beginning of the story. But I am glad I continued to read, because this ended up being SO good.
When she was just six years old, her story was talked about nationwide. Then known as Arden, she was sleepwalking one night and ended up getting swept away in a flash flood. She was found 3 days later, and her story was told for years.
Not wanting the attention, she refused to participate in interviews, and changed her name - never telling anyone her story. One day, she wakes up after tripping over something in her yard at night. She soon discovers it is the body of the man who found her 20 years prior and a wild story follows.
I really enjoyed this book!

Wow this story is a thriller! It had so many twists and something I never imagined! I loved reading it!
I'm always fascinated by former famous people. What happens to your psyche, especially as a child, when you experience fame? Arden was 7 when she slept walked and ended up in a storm drain. She survived for days alone, and was famous afterwards. It was too much for Arden, and she changed her name and put distance between herself and her fame hungry mother. But now the 20th anniversary is coming up, and she feels someone watching her. Arden jolts awake, and finds herself in her yard, with a corpse at her feet. What happened, and how does she know this man? Megan Miranda can always be counted upon for a good twist, and I always enjoy it. I love anything by Megan Miranda, including this book. It was a fast paced mystery, and I didn’t see the ending coming. I’d recommend this if you like a good thriller.
I will probably never pick up this book until I watch an amazing review on Youtube and decided that it was time. The premise and story was great but very slow for my taste.
I don't want to tell much but the ending was freaking fantastic and probably the best part of the book.
3.5 stars
’ve read all of Megan Miranda’s books, so picking this one up was a no-brainer for me. As a child, Arden sleepwalked into a storm and was missing for several days, causing a media frenzy. When she is found, she becomes sort of infamous and eventually changes her name and moves away in order to live a quiet life.
So when she finds herself involved in a new incident where police are involved, she begins to unravel, and thinking perhaps her past is not exactly what she thought it was.
This was twisty and suspenseful, all the things Megan Miranda excels at. Though I enjoyed reading it, I didn’t find myself as propelled to keep reading as I usually with thrillers. The ending felt a little rushed and perhaps tied up a little too neatly for my person liking, but it was still a solid read and Megan Miranda continues to be an auto-read author for me.
I loved this one! This one kept me guessing and engaged. I did not want to put it down. Megan Miranda, please keep writing like this!
Okay, this one kept twisting and it was SUCH A FUN RIDE. I'm loving Megan Miranda's work and this might be one of my favorites so far.
Thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read it!
This has everything I want in a thriller! Plenty of twists and turns keeping me up late turning page after page. I love a thriller that has you questioning every character including the narrator herself. The ending has my jaw on the floor and I absolutely loved the journey it took me on.
What a twisty book! I really enjoyed it! The concept was fantastic, One I had not ever come across before so it was a unique read. I never knew who the antagonist was and the ending came right out of nowhere! I will definitely be recommending this book!
This was what I’d expect from a mass market thriller! I still wish some of the loose ends had been tied up - it was a bit of a sudden turn at the end that didn’t fit the rest of the story. Overall, perfectly fine!
LOVE Megan Miranda and have since I read her first book years ago. She always has a unique storyline, interesting characters and twists and turns I am not expecting. The Girl From Widow Hills is no different and kept me on my toes throughout the book.
I love Megan Miranda and this book is no different. I highly recommend this to all suspense/mystery lovers.
The Girl from Widow Hills is a good suspense, thriller read! I'm from Houston and it threw off major "Baby Jessica" vibes. If you are not from Houston (or a bit younger) Baby Jessica was a sensational news story of a little girl who fell into a well pipe. There was continuous news coverage of her rescue and years later there have been follow ups.
In The Girl from Widow Hills the main character, Arden, as a young girl was swept away in a flashflood and rescued three days later. Similarly, there was intensive news coverage and follow ups. The novel, of course, takes a more sinister turn and follows Arden as she grows up and has changed her name to escape the media interest. However, the twentieth anniversary is coming up and things start getting creepy - she starts sleepwalking again and then a body appears outside her remote home.
If you like murder mystery thrillers The Girl from Widow Hills delivers.
Unfortunately I lost interest in this book. I hope it does well for the author. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
I did not finish this title because I feel like the author follows a similar pattern throughout all of her books, and I just found this one to be very predictable even from the beginning.
Arden Maynor is just a little girl when she becomes a local celebrity. Swept away during a violent storm while sleepwalking, Arden is missing for days before she is discovered alive. Capitalizing on the event, her mom writes a book detailing the ordeal. Arden is inundated with overzealous admirers, letters, fans, and even creepy stalkers. The attention proves too much for Arden, and when she grows up, she ultimately changes her name and moves away, determined to start a new life as "Olivia."
Twenty years have now passed, and the media build up is beginning again. Olivia soon finds herself sleepwalking with more frequency. Initially, she brushes it off as simply stress related to the anniversary. Until one morning she wakes up next to a dead body. The man is someone Olivia knows from her previous life. Terrified, Olivia does not know what to think. Did she take the life of this man and not remember it? Is someone messing with Olivia's mind? Is he/she after Olivia next? And what role has her mother played in this sequence of events?
I love Megan Miranda's books. Always unpredictable, this one had many twists and turns throughout. "The Girl from Widow Hills" will have you second guessing the close relationships in your life.
I’m a new fan of Megan Miranda and really really enjoyed this one! I had a few suspicions but this one definitely kept me guessing until the very end with a fun twist I didn’t see coming at all.
Thank you Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for the advance copy and opportunity to review this book.
