This was a decent thriller, but the plot line felt a little bit like a stretch. It was a fast paced page turner for all who love a good twist. As someone who grew up remembering little Jessica trapped in the well, this hit on that sensationalism with our main character reconstructing her life, even changing her name, to get away from the unsought fame garnered when she went missing as a child and turned up clinging to a storm drain. Having never had such an experience, thankfully, I had a hard time understanding why the now adult girl would run from her past and that part felt contrived but it all arrived at a very interesting twist ending.
I’m glad that I read this book just in time before requesting Megan’s new book 🤩
Olivia had a traumatic past life. She was born to be called as Arden and she was popularly known as The Girl from Widow Hills. She ran away from her past life and built a new one, but when recent happenings have similarities with her past, she questions herself!!
The story boils with suspense and it will keep you tensed till the end. You might think you can guess the intention, but trust me, you can’t and even if you do, you’ll be wrong! The pacing is slow for such an intriguing plot, but that didn’t deter my interest much. I read it in a day and totally ready for her next book!!
Thank you Netgalley, Simon & Schuster for the arc in exchange for an honest opinion.
If you are reading this book, and thinking to yourself that you have the plot and killer's identity figured out, keep reading book friends, because you do not! A six year old sleep walker missing, and later recovered is only the beginning, you absolutely need to hang on for the ride. Once I hit second half of the book, I couldn't stop reading.
Thank you to Netgally, and the publisher, Simon & Schuster, for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this book in a new to me author. The characters and location really and to the story. I can't wait to read the next one. This book keeps you guessing until the end.
I really enjoyed the flashbacks from past to present in this book as it added so much dimension and intrigue. In addition, the plot twist at the end was very unexpected and the book as a whole kept me on my toes.
Olvia was shocked to wake up and discover that she had been sleepwalking. It was twenty years ago when Olivia, then Arden, wandered away from her home while sleepwalking. The entire town was out looking for the six-year-old, but she wasn't found until three days later. Her nightly sleep routine has prevented the sleep-walking for nearly twenty years, but now she lives in fear of it happening again. But she does. And it was stumbling over a dead body that wakes her up. The mystery continues when it comes out that the dead man at her feet was the man who found her twenty years ago, Sean Coleman. What was he doing there? And why does she get the feeling that somebody is watching her?
The Girl From Widow Hills was full of surprises! I liked Olivia. She was resilient and had really pulled herself up by her bootstraps. It was admirable. I understand her mentality, cautious about opening up to others, especially those who open up to her. Her fear over sleepwalking again pushed her to surprising lengths, which was just proof that she was desperate to not sleepwalk. The end of the book is peppered with surprise after surprise. Some of them shocked even me. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS. But once again, it just shows how Olivia is really resilient.
Bottom Line - Megan Miranda knows what it takes to write a story that can keep a reader on their toes.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I devoured it. I loved all the twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end.
I love Megan's previous books, this one not as much. The story just moves along too slowly for my liking. It started strong, but not too far in it was like we hit a traffic jam and the story just couldn't keep me engaged as much as I would have liked. Olivia was rescued from a storm drain when she was 6. She eventually moves, changes her name, and tries to start a new life. This is where it becomes a big yawn. All we seemingly do is follow Olivia around through her daily life, meeting her friends, living life in her shoes. Not really exciting at all. Seemed like there were bursts of light throughout the book, but then we are given reading sleeping pills and the book goes to bed for a while then decides we need a caffeine jolt and boom something else happens. Just not my cup of coffee on this one
I’ve read Megan Miranda before, and what I love about her storytelling is that you think you’re reading about one mystery and one problem but then - BAM - she hits you with a twist that really sends you for a loop. And this book has a couple of them a that really caught me reeling.
Olivia Meyer is a real-life Harry Potter - “the girl who lived” - after a terrible accident at age 6 defied her entire life. She changed her name and tried to move on, but soon finds that it may be impossible to outrun the past when she finds herself sleepwalking for the fist time since she was a child and literally trips over a dead body - and it’s someone from her past.
Olivia was a great character because she not only was dealing with the challenges of her past, but she had some challenges to face in her present life: she made poor relationship choices, maybe some poor friendship choices? We see it unfold as the book goes on and seeing that balancing act was really interesting. It made the character very 3-dimensional, so that she wasn’t just a person with a bad past or a bad present, she was both.
Like I said before, this book had several twists and turns and I loved them all. They really come at you pretty swiftly, and I loved how thing just kept going at that breakneck pace. Just zoom, zoom zoom - did you get all that? But at the same time, it didn’t feel overwhelming at all, I felt it was well-paced in that I could keep up with where the plot was at.
Overall, fans of mysteries and thrillers will love this book - it’s quite good.
I had no idea where this one was going from one chapter to the next, which is a huge compliment for a psychological thriller - slash - mysery book! The pacing here was great, I found myself binging this for chunks at a time and had trouble putting it down. Domestic thrillers are usually hit or miss for me since they can often rely too heavily on boring tropes that we see repeated too often in the genre, but this one was great - not surprised, Megan Miranda has so many other good books, too! Such a talent.
I always have enjoyed Megan Miranda books, and this one is no different.
This one felt different tho, it had a very unique premise.
I really enjoyed the writing style, as I always do with Megan Miranda novels. I felt along with the main character, and felt deeper into the story than just the reader.
Such a great thriller! I was so intrigued throughout the story. There were twist & turns throughout the story, in which I did not see coming! The writing still kept me interested and on suspense the whole time. I love how it was a story added with artifacts after each chapter. Definitely a must read!
I'll forever be comparing Megan Miranda's other books to All The Missing Girls and none have yet to wow me like that one has. This was on the more suspenseful side, but still not as unique as ATMG.
Thanks to Simon & Schuster for my copy to review.
This one just wasn't for me. I found it to be slow and not as thrilling as a mystery thriller should be. None of the twists truly shocked me. However, I don't think it was a bad book. I recommend this for beginners in the genre or someone not looking for anything too heavy of a thriller.
Solid mystery, a little predictable; but, there was still several twists along the way. I will recommend this one to friends.
I'm thinking this author is not for me. The pace of this book was way too slow and the premise was so unbelievable and boring. The chapters were super repetitive.

I really enjoyed this book and found that I could not figure for the life of me on the 'whodunnit'. As many seasoned thriller and mystery readers, we can kinda tell right in the middle where the story will be going but not this one, and for that brava Megan Miranda. This was awesome. Arden Maynor a six year old sleepwalks and disappears in the night, and found a few days later in a storm drain alive. This caused quite a stir and gave her infamy, that she had to change her identity (Olivia) to live a life and move forward from that horrible past. Move on to twenty years later and another sleepwalking event cause her to stumble into a dead body known to her from her past.
If you like a twisty tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this book is for you.
I really enjoyed this one.
Arden Maynor was a news sensation when she was a little girl after she went missing for 3 days during a rainstorm. To escape from being known as the girl from Widow Hills forever, Arden changes her name when she becomes of age and moves on with her life. As the twentieth anniversary approaches Arden, who now goes by Olivia, begins to feel that she is being followed and begins to sleepwalk again. Waking to the sound of a phone ringing, Olivia finds herself outside and at her feet is the body of a man and Olivia can't remember a thing. Having read a lot of really great thrillers lately, "The Girl from Widow Hills" didn't rate high up on the list for me. I found myself skimming some text and didn't quite connect with the characters. However, I will say the plot did keep me guessing all the way through. Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title
This was one was really slow and i felt like i kept waiting for something to happen. I ended up skimming to get to the end.
This book was SO SO good! It is twisty and thrilling, and continuously picks up as it goes. I can say that I did not see the ending coming, although I thought I had figured it out a few times. I definitely recommend!
