Good for vocabulary acquisition!
Good quality, educational book, for developing child reading skills both in class and at home. The content is carefully created for reading development, learning content words, comprehension and fluency. The design is friendly and colorful, with everyday images, short and concise texts. The literacy is the ability to convoy and receive meaning throug words and intentional vocabulary teaching is critical to facilitate the learning of reading and writing.
This type of material supports your children to develop reading and the importance of vocabulary learning for children cannot be underestimated since it is a determining factor in their academic future. Vocabulary acquisition plays a fundamental role in reading comprehension, effective communication in all areas, their academic and social confidence and competence improve. As children are instructed to learn words that are not part of their oral vocabulary, they can read more advanced texts.
My sincere appreciation to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book
I want to start by saying that I appreciate that this nonfiction book uses real photographs for its illustrations. That really helps to make the concepts more relatable and a little bit more concrete for the young readers.
It's a simple explanation about what people can do with the money that they earn and really emphasizes the importance of saving and how once it is spent, it is gone. That's an important concept to instill in children at a young age. I think this is a good addition to a collection of books and materials that you could use in the classroom or at home when teaching children about money.
This book says that it is a Beginning-to-Read book, but it is definitely not for the early reader, so don't start with this one for your young reader. After some experience, they will be ready for this. You do get a word list in back that you can use to help kids learn the words in this book and work up to reading it on their own. There are also a lot of other activities in the back for parents and teachers to use. The author is a former elementary teacher, so there is good information in the back.
I gave it 4.5 stars overall.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for honoring my request for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fantastic book for kids all about money. In this day and age where money is fleeting and esp for children who don’t have a clue about it, thus book is the one to read with your kids. Great photos, easy to read topics aims to get them interested in money and how to save for what they want/need. Money doesn’t grow on trees!
Thanks #netgalley for the ARC.
This book explains why people spend money and why they save it. It's very basic and is a wonderful book to start teaching finances with.
Good read for young children of reading age to start the fundamentals of Spending and Saving. Also a good book to start the building blocks for children who will learn how to properly spend money once they are adults. #SpendingandSaving #NetGalley
In this third book from the Mary Lindeen collection, the author discusses what to do with all the lovely lucre you've earned from providing the goods and/or services form various careers which were discussed in the previous two books I reviewed today! The others talk about the kinds of opportunities for earning, and what goods and services actually are. The book employs short texts and big colorful photos illustrating the text and tuns to around 30 pages.
It discusses how money is earned and what uses it's put to. There are some things which have to be bought, and others which we choose to buy for fun or entertainment. Some money is spent, and some is saved. The book admirably makes it clear that once the money is spent, it's gone. Children might not grasp that the first time they think about spending, especially if they're some of the kids I see in the grocery store from time to time! Race, circumstances and income are things which kids don't worry overmuch about, so it was nice to see a diversity of people in this book, as it was in all three books I read in this series.
Because the author is a former elementary school teacher, she has wisely set up in the back of the book, a guide to how the book works and how children can learn from it, along with vocabulary and skills information. I commend this as a worthy read!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. I liked the subject matter for my 7 year old. The topic, words, and pictures were all age appropriate for both my 4 and 7 year old. I really appreciated the questions and tips to help the kids get the most understanding out of the book and subject.
This is a great book to introduce or reinforce the concept of spending and saving to young learners. The bright and colorful images are not only very relevant to the text, but are also very eye catching. This would be a great book for either a classroom or home setting. The easy to read format will ensure that even the youngest of readers will be able to benefit from this book. The reading reinforcement section at the back is perfect for parents and educators to build on what their child/student has learned from reading the book!
