This story delves into the results of alcoholism and how it can fracture even the most wonderful of lives. A child injured, a parent at fault, a parent in jail and a deep web of lies running through their entire lives. The lies are the driving force behind everything that happens but none of these lies are what they seem to be, nothing is as it seems to be. This book took so many twists and turns and was filled with suspense. I highly recommend this read it was very well done and well told.
Adele Parks has done it again. I was so happy to be approved for this book. I could not put it down. Meet Daisy and Simon, they have the perfect little family, but it isn't what it seems. This book flows at a perfect speed in alternating points of view from Simon and Daisy. I figured out a few of the plot twists, but there are so many more.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was super excited to get my hands on Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks, she is an author whose books I have really enjoyed in the past. This one centers around family secrets and the main characters certainly have some! Daisy and Simon have a wonderful life that Daisy feels is complete with their daughter Millie. After going to through IVF, she is content to have one child. However, Simon wants another and starts to aggressively pursue infertility treatments by going in to see the doctor alone, just to get things started.
There he learns he’s sterile. But the IVF worked last time! Just look at their daughter! Obviously the doctor is incompetent and more than that, he’s wrong. Simon is capable of fathering a child… isn’t he?
Cue the suspense music because Daisy has some explaining to do!
Here’s the official premise for Lies Lies Lies:
Daisy and Simon’s marriage isn’t what it seems…
After years together, the arrival of longed-for daughter Millie sealed everything in place. They’re a happy little family of three.
So what if Simon drinks a bit too much sometimes—Daisy’s used to it. She knows he’s just letting off steam. Until one night at a party things spiral horribly out of control. And their happy little family of three will never be the same again.
This book deals with themes of alcoholism, lying, depression, and obviously- lies. Its an engaging story and I enjoyed the writing style of the author, looking forward to whatever she writes next!
Coming out on June 16! Pre-order here.
A poignant story of marriage. Daisy, Simon and Millie seem like the perfect family but don't always believe what you see. The book deals with some hard subjects : alcoholism, infertility and abuse. The author has you feeling one way about characters but then she masterfully turns everything you thought upside down. Will definitely read more from this author.
Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced reading copy.

This was quite the thriller! Its many twists and turns had me quite engaged throughout the book. I was especially surprised by the ending, which I did NOT see coming. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good domestic thriller!
This was an incredible novel that drew me in and never let go. I felt emotionally invested in the characters’ lives and couldn’t stop reading. Love books by Adele Parks
Wow this is the first book I have ever read by Adele Parks and it certainly won’t be the last. She pulled off a domestic violence story perfectly as I often found myself reading late into the night. There were so many twists and turns that my feelings changed about the protagonists Daisy and Simon so many times based on the perspective I was reading! The ending had me completely surprised and I did not see it coming. I highly recommend this page turner as the plot moved perfectly and always had me saying oh just one more page.
Thank you to Net galley and publishers for this advance read! I definitely will be recommending this book to friends.
Adele Parks is an astute writer. She knows how to make her words hit home, and destroy the home. Alcoholism and it’s toll on family and relationships is the heart of this story. How a man went from ‘just a tipple to relax after a busy day’ to a full-on disease with tragic results. All alcoholics have an enabler and Daisy forgives Simon his embarrassing scenes and looks the other way until their world blows up in an incident with their daughter Millie. So, with that backdrop, we read of secrets unrevealed which lead to more lies for covering up the truth. I read this, as a woman in recovery, with understandable dread and familiar feelings. The climax of the novel was a surprise and while it seemed too tidy for the circumstances, I hope that readers can recognize themselves if they are in similar situations before the inevitable glass shatters.
A thrilling and highly entertaining thriller! I love a book filled with copious amounts of twists and turns and this book had it all! Adele Parks is a new to me author but you can bet I'll be reading much more of her book based solely on this intriguing and twisty read!
4.5 stars
I was pleasantly surprised by this introduction to Adele Parks' work. Having never read anything by her before, it didn't take long to realize I have a new favorite author! I think you will find this a compelling story line, and will leave you wishing for more...
Ending was fabulous!! I never saw coming. The beginning was a little slow for me but good enough to keep picking this one up knowing something's going to happen.
Put this one on your to read shelf!! You won't he disappointed.
Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for an early release of this book.
Adele Parks is one of those authors who knows how to do domestic suspense. I seen it in the first book I read of hers and saw it again in this one! She writes so eloquently and builds the characters so flawlessly that you cannot help but get emerged in the story. Then the suspense, lies, and tension comes in and feels you with a complete yearning to know exactly what is going to happen, but also making you wonder if you know anyone, including your spouse, friends, even family at all! Unputdownable, tense, chilling, and real! I highly, highly recommend! Preorder today!
Will make sure I buzz it up on all the different platforms!
Normally one of my favorite authors, this book lacked the depth of her previous books, towards the beginning, at least. It focused on the excessive drinking of the husband which got a bit monotonous but towards the end the suspense & mystery factor really ramped up with not one, but TWO never-saw-it-coming surprises. By the second half it’s impossible to put down. Hang in there, it’s worth it!!
Daisy and Simon’s relationship was rocky after Simon wanted another child. However, after suspecting that Millie was not really his child, Simon went back to his ways. He seeks solace at the bottom of a bottle. After an unfortunate drunken night, Simon ran down his daughter. After getting out of jail for almost killing his daughter, he came home to find more lies awaited for him.
Would you ever be able to out-run your lies? The story is twisted and surprising without it being a mystery. It’s more relatable. Just like any marriages, there are small white lies that meant well and it just snowballs. For what she does for her daughter, Daisy’s personality is contradicting. She is a doormat, even trying to protect her child. She can’t seem to stand up to her friends or her husband, much less the evil man that did her wrong. The ending was a little far fetch. It was too neatly tied in a bow. But that doesn’t make it any less amazing way to end the story. The snowball effect of all the lies kept this story interesting without calling it a mystery/thriller.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this fabulous ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lions, and Tigers, AND LIES. . . OH MY!
Deliciously suspenseful and Terrifically engrossing!
You won't be able to stop turning the pages fast enough! This is a book where less is more. You don't want to know too much going into this one. Parks is an excellent suspense novelist. She has you hanging on to her every word. I LITERALLY had to tear myself away from this book so I could get to work. But don't you LOVE books like that? I devoured this! It's page turning and exciting. A book to bring on vacation for sure! FIVE BIG, FAT, BRIGHT STARS!
Wow! I wasn’t sure how I would like this book at first because it didn’t really seem to be a domestic thriller but rather just a family drama story. It did definitely err on the side of family drama, but there was some suspense as well. It was a bit of a slow build, but then just kept getting better and better up until the shocker of the last page. Definitely recommend!
Totally engrossing and absolutely fabulous. What a read! I was blown away by the story and the ending was spine tingling and shocking. Highly recommend.
* Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for my ARC. I have given an honest unbiased review in exchange *
Daisy and Simon's marriage is great, isn't it? After years together, the arrival of longed-for daughter Millie sealed everything in place, until one night things take a turn.
This story deals with difficult issues including alcohol addiction, sexual violence and post natal depression. The characters are mostly flawed and not always likeable, but aren't we all.. Simon likes to drink and Olivia notices that it is more then just to let off steam, he needs help, but Simon doesn't see it that way and one day things change and will never be the same.
I thought the truth had already been revealed, but then right at the very end the truth came out. The massive secret that I never even guessed at. Which made this book even better in my eyes.
