This was a cute read. I read this in January of 2023, and forgot to write my review. The characters in this book were quirky and fun. It was a light and fun read for me.

Synopsis:

Strangers Mackenzie, Sunna and Maude move in with only one thing in common - important people in their lives have "ghosted" them without explanation. When an indecipherable letter arrives, each tenant assumes its for her. In trying to figure it out, a kinship forms but the more they learn about each other, the more questions (and suspicions) they begin to have. Will any of the housemates find the closure they are looking for? Or are some doors meant to remain closed?

Review:

This was a really unique book. All the characters are different and you'll probably find yourself relating to at least one of them. They're all from different backgrounds and have different stories. You see how women can be friends and frenemies at the same time.

What a fun, unique book! I loved the various ways ghosts were explored. I thought the story was cute, the characters were interesting and the writing was well-done!

I wish I enjoyed this one more than I did, I just did not find anything extraordinary or special about this story. I’d definitely give the author another shot though. I liked the premise and the topics of friendship, ghosting and closure but I thought it could’ve been executed better. I saw another title from this author I’ll give a chance.

Overall this was a good book. A quick read and definitely kept my interest. I laughed quite a bit because of Maude... She is so rude and blunt ( I loved it!) I could do without Larry. He just wasn't a character I personally liked. The storyline was just ok. I more or less liked the dynamic between the three women the most.

In Sorry I Missed You, author Suzy Krause crafts a riveting and mysterious story about three women in search of the people that have gone missing in their lives. With quirky and funny moments alongside mysterious and unnerving moments, the book manages to take the reader on an unpredictable journey of friendship, hope, and redemption.

At the start of the novel, we meet Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude. Each woman has someone who has been in her life and has suddenly disappeared - Mackenzie’s sister, Sunna’s best friend, and Maude’s fiancé. These three characters come together as strangers when they rent a house and a cryptic letter arrives for one of them, hinting at the potential for answers. With the promise of potentially finding the person who ghosted them, the trio embarks on a journey of discovery.

The plot twists and turns, making it difficult to predict what’s coming next, and this keeps readers hooked from the beginning. What’s even better is that it is character-driven. Each woman is unique and brings her own personality to the narrative, which is further developed as the story unfolds. The tension mounts as readers become invested in their individual journeys, and Krause also leaves plenty of room for introspection and thoughtfulness.

Overall, Sorry I Missed You is a great read that balances elements of mystery and comedy, making it an ideal read for anyone looking for a poignant and original novel.

I enjoyed this far more then I initially thought I would. My first grasp of it was that it was about three flatmates dealing with the messiness of their lives but I was pleasantly surprised in the direction that the plot went.

I liked all three characters (Sunna was probably my favourite) and their individual storylines were all interesting with Sunna's maybe getting pushed to the back a little in favour of the other two. The mystery aspect of Mackenzie's story hooked me the most, I kept going back and forth on my theories and whether Mackenzie was truly who she said she was.

I think it has some interesting things to say about relationships ending, how we don't always get the closure we want and how process and grieve those we've lost especially friendships which is often overlooked compared to romances.

The ending was unexpected and a tad bizarre but overall this was a really fun read with characters that grew on me and a highly readable quality to it.

A quirky little read!
A fun novel part romance, part mystery with a slice of ghost with won't work for everyone but I loved it.

I finished this book at last, but I'm sad to say that I didn't like it. I had high expectations, the beginning was interesting, but, its pace goes downhill as the plot progresses.

The story talks about the 3 characters renting the same house. These characters have nothing in common except that the most important people in their lives have ghosted them for no reason.

As I said before, the book has an interesting plot and beginning. Unfortunately, it doesn't manage to maintain that rhythm throughout the book, it loses its spark since nothing interesting happens. The only thing I liked was the ending, which seemed unusual and a bit crazy, but it was interesting nonetheless.

On the other hand, the characters are annoying, Mackenzie was the only one I liked, but she still has no development. Sunna and Maude are very obnoxious, especially Maude, the character is rude.

I wanted to like this book, but I'm very sorry that it was not what I expected.

Any book about ghosts gets my attention.

The mysterious letter really held my attention.

The three ladies who rented the apartment were quite interesting and diverse.

Wasn't quite what I expected but was good enough to finish the book.

Three very different women at various stages in their life all find themselves renting an apartment in an old haunted house in Saskatchewan. They are brought together when a mysterious, half ripped, soaked letter appears in their shared mailbox. Each woman has reason to believe (and hope) that the letter might be for them, as they have all been "ghosted" at some point by someone close to them. And so, they embark on a pseudo-journey to find out who the letter might have been for... And from!

I love the way each character is carefully crafted to seem relatable, and yet so very unique. The setting is perfect... Not only is the novel set in Canada, but in a small town in Saskatchewan! Each locale felt like someplace I've been to before, or someplace I definitely want to visit. Did I mention the haunted house? I don't think this setting could have possibly been any more perfect.

I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!

Three women with distinct personalities have moved into a rental house. Each of them starting a new life away from their past. So when a note arrives, albeit incomplete, each of them feels it’s a letter from someone important in their lives. Each of them feels the letter should be theirs. We watch this trio try to sleuth the origins of the letter while trying to figure out the mystery of the ghosts in the attic.

This was a gem of a read. Watching the three of them interact ranged from amusing to tense, especially because Sunna and Maude have such strong personalities. Once they started talking and working together, they each started to heal. This was a fun read. It took an amusing take on typical ghost stories. With some heartwarming moments thrown in, it was an enjoyable read from start to finish

Sorry I Missed You' -

This was an unexpected gift of a read. I wasn't too sure what to anticipate with this story but I was left blown away and appreciative of having read this novel. Three, seemingly very different women, are brought together when a mysterious letter is delivered to their house. Despite renting the same house, living on different floors means they have had zero interaction with each other. However, with half of the letter missing, the women have no clue who the letter is addressed to. Only knowing the meeting place but not the date, what ensues is the women staking our a coffee shop, hoping to recognise the ambiguous writer.

The writer explores the modern concept of "ghosting" and how people can disappear from lives. It was interesting to read and I liked seeing the parallels with the literal haunting in the house. Finally, another great feature of this book were the chapter names! It is so unusual to come across a book that has named, rather than numbered, chapters. This added to the light-hearted feel of the story and made the book even more entertaining.

Thank you to Netgalley, Suzy Krause, and Lake Union Publishing for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

What an odd little story lol. It is a twist in a ghost story unlike any I have ever read. It’s not a scary story, but humorous with unique and eccentric characters. I think the plot is different from anything I’ve ever read, and it’s almost two stories weaved into one!!!

If you’re looking for some fun, something different, and a Canadian setting give this one a shot!
