i loved the growth we see between these three characters' relationship, and storytelling was really fun and easy to read! the ending I felt fit perfectly, and this was just overall a fun easy-going read!

This was a very cute quick read. I liked the mystery of who the letter was for. Would definitely read again and again.

I have always enjoyed Suzy's books so given the chance to read this one was great. It was very quirky and fun and a quick read. Ghosting sure is crazy and this is what this story was all about .It was nice reading about the three women and what they went through. What letter was for whom? Great book :)

I enjoyed this book. It was sometimes a bit tricky to follow as it felt like there was a lot going on at once and all being mashed together. That being said, I did finish it and I did enjoy it. Would recommend.

In 'Sorry I Missed You' by Suzy Krause we follow a trio of ladies (Maude, Sunna, Mackenzie) who find themselves living under the same roof unexpectedly, however, they have one thing in common, they've all been ghosted by someone who was important to them at one point in their life. Maude is a sixty-eight-year-old who was left at the altar by her fiancee. Sunna is a thirty-something fitness trainer who loses her "influencer" best friend after a huge blowup. And finally, there's nineteen-year-old Mackenzie who was ghosted by Jared who used to date her sister - the problem, her sister passed away tragically.

The whole premise is a mysterious letter shows up in their shared mailbox with the starting line "Sorry I Missed You..." the letter has been damaged so the girls are only able to read part and figure that someone will be waiting for them at a coffee shop, the Paper Cup. I really tried to connect with the characters but found myself eye-rolling at the constant bickering between Maude and Sunna. We also get another perspective from Larry who has inherited the house from his dead aunt, we get a few chapters from his POV - but felt that we didn't need them. He was way too obsessed with punk music and just was awkward in general. I only really was interested in Mackenzie due to the stuff that happened that one night to her sister.

I had a hard time following the plot - it felt like so many plotlines were crammed into a book. In the end, they all tie together, I just found that it was a little overwhelming and took away from the fact that these ladies are trying to overcome their grief - it just felt like a lot to me. If the plot had just focused on the ghosting concept, I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more. I think this book deals well as the concept of ghosting and how to overcome it, but just gets lost along the way.

I only read 10% of this book and then decided to DNF it. The 10% was enough for me to decide that this one was not my cup of tea. My problem was the strange concept that might work for some people but did not work for me, like, AT ALL. This book is really hit or miss and sadly it was a miss for me.

This book follows our four main characters: Sunna, Maude, Mackenzie, and Larry. Larry recently inherited a former relative's house after she passed away, and he ends up renovating it into three separate apartments for three new tenants. All of whom have been "ghosted" by someone in their lives, in one way or another. A mysterious, half water-deteriorated letter shows up in their communal mailbox one day with the heading, "Sorry I missed you", or rather it was, "Sorry I missed you". Both conveying a seemingly different message to each of the women.

This book follows these three "housemates" as they try to unravel the mystery of which one of them the letter was addressed to and which one of them may have a second chance with a special someone from their past.

I ended up giving this book a solid 3 star rating. I would recommend it to others, however I think the main message of the story about real-life ghosts and the ghosts of your past kind of got lost along the way.

Full of interesting characters and quirky traits that enhanced the story...this book was enjoyable enough, but had so much going on that at times it felt hard to keep up!.
The Author has a wonderful writing style though that gives the book a unique voice.

There was way too much going on in this book, so many character stories that felt overstuffed with details. Then it seemed like the writer rushed to tie everything together at the end (yet still somehow leaving Sunna's story incomplete).

An interesting read that I read quickly and enjoyed. I particularly liked the nice mix of quirky characters.

When Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude each move into a newly converted rental house they are each running away from something (or someone). These women couldn’t be more different but when a mangled letter arrives in their shared mailbox saying “sorry I missed you”, they work together to decipher it the best they can and make plans to stake out the coffee shop mentioned in the letter to see who may have left the letter. Each of them has someone who’s “ghosted”, so they think it could be for them, but since they can’t see a signature, it’s all a guessing game. As they continue to get to know one another and try to figure out who might have sent the letter, weird things are happening in their rental house—missing shoes, missing books, weird noises, etc.

This story is quirky and unique with so many mysteries along the way. It definitely kept me guessing and with some many mini stories taking place, there were a few things I would forget and then go “oh yeah!” when another clue was revealed. I don’t normally say this but I feel like this story would be a fun one to see turned into a film to bring some of these characters to life.

Such a cute and fun read! Perfect distraction in life right now. Really enjoyable characters and story and hard to put down! I really liked this a lot!

I read it back in June when it was published and it's been hard to figure out exactly how to review it. It's one of those books that was just so delightful and fun that I just want to tell you to read it and enjoy it!

Quirky, humorous, and utterly original, Sorry I Missed You is the perfect read for anyone who has ever felt haunted by their past (or by anything else).
I read Krause's Valencia and Valentine (review here) last year and, while I liked it, I wasn't blown away. So, I was a wee bit hesitant to pick up Sorry I Missed You - when there are so many books to read, you have to be picky. I'm glad I did read it though because it was a delightful caper full of characters you're going to love hanging out with.

The premise of this novel was too fun. Wouldn't you assume a letter would be for you even if you didn't have any proof? I'm sure I would. So I could definitely understand the motivation of all three women to try and find out if the letter was, in fact, meant for them. All is revealed by the end and is incredibly satisfying. Especially because it's one final reveal after a massively hilarious one that I honestly did not see coming at all.

Back to the characters in this book. The main characters, three women who were complete strangers before moving into the same house, are all so different and reading as they tried to find common ground, beyond the thought that the letter for was for them, was hilarious. And also a bit...sad? Each character makes assumptions about the others and it's hard for them to come to terms with that when they are finally getting to know each other. I liked that they were all different and I could find something in all three to identify with.

Sorry I Missed You is a real, funny, and sweet novel that I very much enjoyed reading. Suzy Krause has written a wonderful story, one that takes place in Regina even! While I've never been to Saskatchewan, I love that more books are being set in Canada. I hope you'll pick this one up and like it just as much as I did.

Really light hearted and funny book that tackles some very modern topics. While it isn't the next normal people it is a very enjoyable read

This book was funny and full of eccentric characters. Three women end up living in a haunted house together and end up being tied together with a common thread they each have been ghosted. The then have Larry their landlord who is sort of lost in between young and figuring out how he fits in now at his age. It was a fun light hearted book to read.

Sorry I Missed You by Suzy Krause is a light, often humorous read with a whisper of a ghost story weaved in between. The story revolves around a big, Victorian house in the small town of Regina, Canada that has just been bequeathed to Larry, a 40-something slacker/punk rock loving guy drifting aimlessly through life. His Aunt has left him the home with one very strict rule: NEVER go into the attic (kind of like when Beast warned Belle never to go into the West Wing, you know that rule is going to be broken, eventually). He rents rooms in the home to three women - an older, curmudgeon named Maude, a thirty-something workaholic Sunna and twenty-something Mackenzie. All the women are running from something in their past when an anonymous mysterious letter reading "Sorry I Missed You" turns up at the house, and each one thinks it's for them, from someone in their past. The story unfolds as the three women go the same cafe every afternoon to wait for the letter writer, and over the course come to know each other and bond as unlikely friends. Secrets come to light, old wounds are healed - and oh yeah, there a ghosts living in the attic who square dance at night and leave fresh flowers for them during the day. The reader is rewarded with mysteries solved at the end - I don't want to give anything away- but I really enjoyed Sorry I Missed You. I've been reading some really heavy stuff lately and this was a welcome breath of fresh air.

I found the story very original and I didn't see the end coming until the very end, so I just had to keep on reading and reading to find out what happened next.

The characters were all fun, even the miserable one still made me laugh, I could see a lot of me in her, and the story was constantly moving it's focus from one character to the next which worked well in keeping me tied to the book.

The story rotates around three women, a pensioner, a gym worker, and a student who all share the same house.

They are all trying to hide or get away from the emotional baggage that continues to affect their lives despite the passage of time. To add to the confusion, the house seems to have a ghost, but nobody really believes in ghosts these days. Or do they?

This may be for comic effect, but the house owner is a middle aged failed punk rocker who is socially inadequate in most situations as he gets nervous and shy around people. His constant desire to be somebody is made all the more sadder by knowing he is barely a nobody, but his heart is in the right place which makes me like him.

I feel like I'm really getting back into women's fiction books and I'm so happy about that. I remember that there was a time where I'd just grab any Lake Union Publishing books that I can because why not they sound good. BUT yeah, when I read the synopsis, I thought it sounds light and fun and takes on a topic I'll enjoy.

Sorry I Missed You is about 40-year old punk music lover, Larry who inherited his aunt's old style house. With really complex conditions from the will, he decided to have it rented and continue on with his life thus bringing three women together: (1) Maude a senior woman who was ghosted on her wedding, (2) Mackenzie who watched as her sister ran away from home, and (3) Sunna who had a falling out/faded out relationship with her then bestfriend.

So when the women found a soiled letter inside the mailbox, all three of them instantly thought of someone who could maybe send then a letter. A LETTER!! through a MAILBOX! It ended up becoming somewhat unreadable. However, they did found traces of the letter stating to meet them at a specific café in the afternoon. With that in mind, the three of them decided to meet at the café every afternoon starting the next day until one of them meets the person they're looking forward to seeing.

It took me a while to finish this book but I absolutely enjoyed this! Few things about this: (1) I enjoyed all the characters! The dynamic is goooood and I love all their interactions especially Maude and Sunna's arguments, (2) I was invested in Mackenzie's life. I was really curious, (3) I like the ghost situation in the house. It really made me intrigued about the whole thing and the story behind it was also really fun, (4) Larry is such a listless and anxious landlord. I liked reading his perspective and how things ended up for him.

I LOVE that the book as a whole took on finding closure, confrontation, and moving on as a whole. It really hit it well for me and it made me really look into my old relationships as well. I like how each character helped the others in finding peace from their past. Everything is done smoothly and all things were given proper closure. Yes, even the "attic ghost" situation as well as the "sorry I missed you" letter they received in the mailbox early on in the novel.

OVERALL, Sorry I Missed You is a light, amusing, and fun novel. There's a bit of mystery, humor, romance, and friendship. It's a wholesome novel that you can speed through when you want something light in between when reading books. I like its take on closure and moving on and I LOVE all the characters! Definitely a recommended novel!
