The Review
This book follows three entirely different women (Sunna, Maude and Mackenzie) as they strike an unlikely friendship, waiting together for answers. They’ve all been ghosted by someone they cared about/loved and are all hoping to find answers, and ultimately closure. This novel charts their wait, and the eventual outcome.

I have to be honest, I was so disappointed by this novel. Having adored V & V last year, I expected much of the same, but perhaps that is unrealistic. Like her first novel, this is a quirky tale, but I don’t think it works in quite the same way as before. In fact, this reminded me on many levels of The 100-Year-Old Man books, though not quite as well executed.

Frequently I felt what I was reading didn’t make sense; the point of view would change mid-way through paragraphs, I had no idea what was going on at times, and it all seemed a little stream-of-consciousness. Which is just not my reading preference, at all.

For the most part I felt as though I’d missed something – for example, there are a lot of references to this letter, but we’re not introduced to the letter, it happened before, and as a reader you’re meant to fill in the gaps. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not rocket science, but at times it just wrong-footed me as I kept having to question whether I had missed something.

Sadly, this just wasn’t for me, and whilst it was OK, I can’t bring myself to rave about it or recommend it. That said, I can totally understand why some people would think it was brilliant – it just wasn’t my vibe.

The Stars
By halfway through I was adamant this was going to be a 2 star, purely because it just didn’t make much sense. However, the ending tied everything together nicely, and there was a glimpse in to the language and ideas/philosophy I had loved so much from Suzy’s previous work. That saved it for me, and gave me a few smiles at the end.

this book follows 3 female characters (maude, sunna and mackenzie - order by age), their landlord Larry and maybe some ghosts from their past or probably real ones. they'll connect with each other through the anonymous letter found in their mailbox one morning and each one of them have someone in mind who might have written the letter. but the problem is, there is only one letter and it was torn in half. so most of its contents are missing. now they're trying to find out who the real recipient of the letter was. while trying to search for answers, maybe, they'll spill more about themselves - more than they intended to. and maybe, they'll each find out why each one of them moved to this small town, or should i say, this strange big house. to be honest, I don't really read books that have horror feels in them. but this one, i can't put it down and i'm literally laughing out loud while reading it. (yep, maude, literally so don't question me here i'm not sunna). each character is so honest and that makes the scenes more hilarious. this is perfect for everyone who experienced #ghosting and had been a ghost to anyone. after reading it, I literally said "wow" because I couldn't put enough words, I felt like I was slapped by the reality it made me realize. Just, wow.

This one was a … weird one. Mainly because it didn't seem to know what it was (if shopping had been thrown in, then we could've said everything but the kitchen sink had been thrown in there!) It however works somewhat, in a crazy 'what on Earth is going on/what the heck am I reading?' type of vibe. The characters weren't much to write home about (Maude was utterly despicable and not sympathetic at all throughout - one constant there) but I loved the ending, how it tied up and we got the explanation for the note and who it was intended for. Bit of a cuckoo ride throughout to get there, to be honest, but if you can suspend disbelief, you can get through this. Have to add there were some moments of brilliant description in there.

VII. Sorry I Missed You by Suzy Krause (3.5/5)

This novel follows the lives of three extremely different women who form a friendship over being ghosted by important people in their lives. They receive an unmarked letter in their mailbox and all are unsure as to who it is meant for. Through the story you get to see glimpses into their lives and where they have ended up, all with their questions remaining unanswered.

Having personally recently been ghosted by a long term boyfriend, I thought that it was a perfect book to read. There was humor, friendship, and a pinch of mystery. Personally, I could have lived without the ghost storyline, but in the end I realized how it played out. This was a cute novel and I would recommend it to anyone who has been hoping for closure - It helped me realize that closure is not always possible and some things are better left alone.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this e-book.

A fun look at contemporary friendship, as if Friends was updated to current day. Loved this one!

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I received this book "Sorry I Missed You" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. This was a really fun book. Quirky, funny, entertaining and kept my interests. Overall enjoyable read although the beginning was a lot of background. It picked up and like I said - quirky - but I like that.

When Larry Inherits his aunt's mansion, instead of moving in, he divides into 3 apartment units that he puts up for rent. Sunnah, Mackenzie and Maude move in. The only thing these three women have in common is that all 3 of them have been "ghosted" by people they really loved. A damaged letter (it got damaged sitting in rain water in their mailbox), arrived shortly after the women moved in. All they could make out from the letter was: "sorry I missed you ... and the name of a coffee shop where the person hoped to meet.

There is so much I loved about this book: the quirky characters, and all their relationships, I loved that it takes place in Regina, Canada, with streets like Montreal Street and Toronto Street. I love that the author is young Canadian as well. This book is just perfect "if you are looking for entertainment". It will make you laugh and maybe make you cry, or just make you feel good about people. I highly recommend Suzy Krauses's #sorryimissedyou. Thank you @netgalley for the e-ARC in returner my honest review. #5stars

Story line could not keep my attention. Thought it was a bit boring. Stopped readying almost half way through.

Sorry I Missed You is great!!! Like really really great you guys! Put everything down and read this book now. A swoon worthy Rom Com with all the right twist as turns. Krause gives you characters you love, some you hate and much much more.

The plot seemed interesting at first, but overall, this one felt a bit too all over the place for me. There was too much going on, and none of the characters really grabbed my attention. I don't know, I think I was expecting something different from Sorry I Missed You, and it just...wasn't it.

This was a surprisingly delightful read full of eccentric but lovable characters. Not only did the characters have entertaining personalities but their back stories will keep you reading wanting to know what happens and happened to them. Just when you think you have the majority of the story solved the house offers one final twist. A lovely story about friendship, acceptance, love, family and becoming your best self in the midst of rather strange circumstances. Definitely reccomend.

This was more a question of personal taste then a poorly written story but this had just enough of plot tropes that do not do it for me. Paranormal of any kind, even a light fun addition like this one, is not at all my cup of tea. I also prefer to have the majority of the characters a lot more likeable so that when I read, there is at least one that I want to learn more about. But it was an interesting idea and a fun twist to a friendship development story. Thank you to the author for sending me an e-copy for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union for an e-copy of Sorry I Missed You in exchange for an honest review.

The story follows three different women who have been ghosted by an important person in their life. The women end of living in three converted flats in an old house.

At the beginning, a letter arrives to the shared mailbox. It has been damaged so parts are illegible, so it is unclear who it is from. The letter says sorry and to meet at a coffee shop one afternoon, but as they can't see which date, they decide to go every afternoon until someone shows.

I guess I thought this was going to be about the development of an 'unlikely' friendship.
It was about too many things. It was a ghost story, a murder mystery (for about two chapters), a revenge story, a finding yourself story, oh and there was a bomb threat.

It was just too choppy for me.

This book made me smile in the best of ways- I loved all of the characters and the way they were developed. But something was missing for me.

I found this a really enjoyable read with a very unusual story line. It would be great for a book club choice as there is a lot to discuss about the characters and their evolving stories. It was well written and engaging and would recommend to others looking for something a little different,

The story revolves around four very different individuals, Maude, Sunna, Mackenzie and their landlord, Larry. These people find themselves propelled into eachother's orbit by their circumstances and connected to each other by a mysterious letter...

The central theme to the book is "ghosting" and I feel that this will resonate with a lot of people. It's not just romantic ghosting either, Sunna for example was ghosted by her best friend.

I found this book a little lacklustre for me. I'm just not a massive fan of these types of books! I also thought the plot was a bit too fussy, there was a lot going on and to be honest, in the end, none of it really made a lot of sense!

I felt the ending was rushed, a lot of loose ends were tied up too quickly and I also felt the author didn't do much justice to a couple of the characters.

It's a quick and easy read but I just didn't really connect with it. I don't have much to say about this book because I don't feel strongly either way! I give it 2.5 stars.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute and quirky read. It starts quickly with three strangers who start living in a rental house together after they have each been ghosted. I felt like the story started to take some weird turn about half way through. If you are looking for a not so scary ghost story this might be for you. Thanks so much netgalley for giving me a chance to read this in exchange for my review.

I found this novel meandering and difficult to get into. It was full of characters with personalities that were difficult to like. The story is about three very diverse women who move into three apartments in an older house. A letter arrives that is difficult to read, that ends with ‘sorry I missed you’. Each woman believes it could be for her. They then get together to wait to see who the letter was for. Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an early arc of this novel.
