This is a brilliant read and I was absolutely gripped by it from beginning to end. The plot is very good and intense, there are surprising twists along the way which helped add to the intensity and excitement. The characters are good, I cared about what happened to them and I was invested in their lives. Some of this is obvious but overall it was an excellent read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Books UK for an advance copy.
This really wasnt my usual kind of read and it also easnt for me. Well written and a good storyline but i couldnt connect with the characters. I tried to dnf but unfortunately for me it just wasnt keeping my interested so 3/4 through i did actually dnf.
That said i would recommend anyone to try. The beauty of books is every read doesnt suit every reader.
Brilliant thriller what a thrilling fast paced edge of your seat read it kept guessing right until the end this is definitely worth a read
This was a compelling read. The storyline is engaging, and Khoury's writing style keeps you hooked. The characters are well-developed, making the book both emotional and thought-provoking. Overall, a worthwhile read!
Dual timelines and dual perspectives for this domestic thriller hits two of my favourite things. This book was excellent, the suspense kept me reading late into the night.
This one took a turn I wasn't expecting which made the twists so much more fun.
An excellent book and I will read more from this author.
A great read. It’s a book that you need a full day to read as trust me when I say once you’ll start it you will not want to put it down. It a book where you will want to know what happens from beginning to end. Excellent writing
This book hooked me in right from the start, it was absolutely brilliant. Fast paced plot and well rounded characters, I'm already looking forward to reading another book by this author, as I have loved all of the ones I've read so far. Fantastic writer.
A great, thrilling read, which will keep you entertained throughout. A good one sitting read, get the nibbles ready, close the door, and read!
Being on the other side of this dilemma (as the one that was cheated on), I didn't really have a lot of sympathy with Poppy and her angst about being found out. The rest of the book was enjoyable and a solid read, gripping enough until the end.
Heart wrenching in places, a great novel that shows we are all more similar than we think. Builds tension throughout
A very good read. Enjoyed the twists at the end. I thought the penultimate one would be the end but the one after was so clever.
I’ve read all of Jane’s books, I find them all very timid and yet I keep coming back. It’s hard for a plot twist to come as a surprise for me and this book was no different. I guessed the majority of them which, unfortunately, makes the book much less exciting. If you want an easy read, I’d recommend this.
This was unfortunately a bit too slow for me, being more of a domestic drama rather than the psychological thriller I was expecting. However I would read Jane Corry again as she has always written great books in the past, its just that this one didn't agree with me
Well written with plenty of twists and turns along the way, and I didn't see them all coming. Enjoyed the book and the characters, and when Poppy makes a mistake of letting a lost love back into her life, that's where the story unfolds.
This is a fast paced, domestic thriller about a woman not really happy with her marriage due to both of their really busy jobs, who makes a mistake when her ex comes back into her life and the consequences of the fallout. It is split between two POVs; Poppy, the wife, and her mother in law Betty who talks about her past with her husband. At first we don't know the connection between the two other than they both have strained marriages but the reveal at the end brings it all together making for a thrilling read that you can't put down.
This is the first Jane Corry book I have read but it won't be the last. I was thoroughly enthralled by the storyline and loved Betty who was such a complex character. I could not put this book down and would thoroughly recommend.
Thank you Penguin Books and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to "discover" this author and give my unbiased opinion.
The storyline in this book is very interesting. The characters are well fleshed out. However I felt the ending was predictable.
A great book nonetheless
Everyone makes mistakes but some are more deadly than others!!
I liked how this story is told from the dual perspectives of Poppy and Betty her mother-in-law. They both have regretful pasts and mistakes that they struggle to come to terms with. As we see parallels drawn, the story unfolds.
An easy slow burn read that I actually really quite enjoyed.
Thanks to Penguin UK and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I Made A Mistake - let’s face it,who hasn’t? But Poppy Page risked everything, her successful business, her family and friends and most importantly her marriage.
Told from two characters perspectives - Poppy and her mother in law,Betty, this story unfolds and leads us to the discovery of the mistakes made by them both which will change their lives forever as they are revealed. Will they ever be able to move forward without first forgiving themselves for the mistakes they made?
This book will have you itching to get back to it to find out what happens to Poppy and Betty. The ending is quite breathtaking and extremely thought provoking.
