I love the cover of this book ( I am a huge cover buyer)! So I think the style of this cover is super cute! Additionally the story within was interesting.

I don’t feel it’s fair to review this book given the author’s note on goodreads:

!!!!IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CHLOE ROSE PLEASE READ!!!!

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING TIME TO REVIEW CHLOE ROSE. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS VERSION HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED AND IT’S NO LONGER A VALID COPY TO REVIEW.

TO THOSE WHO’VE ALREADY DOWNLOADED VIA NETGALLEY PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS BECAUSE THAT VERSION HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

I LISTENED ATTENTIVELY AND APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE REVIEW/ FEEDBACK AND I HAVE SINCE TAKEN A LOT OF YOUR REVIEWS INTO ACCOUNT. ( THANK YOU)

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CONFUSION AND IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO REVIEW THE NEW VERSION BEFORE THE RELEASE DATE ( 25TH OF MARCH 2020) PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME DIRECTLY.

Given this, there seems no point in me reading and reviewing the NetGalley version.

Chloe Rose is a unique young girl who is invited to share in a wondrous secret: a maze, created especially for children who long to see their heart's desires fulfilled. Along with her newfound friends, Edith and Thyra, Chloe Rose embarks on several perilous adventures in order to see all that she dreams of come true.

This story has remarkable potential; its premise is whimsical and heartwarming, and it could become a tale that many, young and old alike, hold dear. However, the magic of the story gets lost in the grammatical errors and, at times, awkward dialogue, and it does require further editing. That being said, Chloe Rose and the Enchanted Maze is a tale with a lot of heart that deserves to be enjoyed for what it is: a story that reminds us that it is, in fact, possible, for what we hope for to come to pass.

I have opted not to review this, because the author has essentially said that the NetGalley version we received is no longer the version that is to be published.

Her note, taken directly from Goodreads:

My Rating: 2.5
I didn't like the plot of the book and as I kept reading it I found myself losing my interest more and more (almost DNF'ed it).
The problem is that the writing was very simplistic (I know I'm not the targeting audience but I think even a middle grader would think the same) and the story felt pretty pointless and rushed. I didn't enjoy Chloe's adventure and the story overall didn't click for me. Like certain events that happen just for the sake of triggering something new (so basically plot reasons).
I do not recommend this book to a child because I honestly think they would be bored and confused by it.

This book follows Chloe and Edith as they go threw a maze to get what their heart most desires. For Chloe, it’s having closure after her fathers death. For Edith, it’s finding her parents. They do get what their heart most desires at the end of the book. Even if that means it changes.

I enjoyed the short chapters of the story. It made me feel like I was reading a lot. Also, I enjoyed the pictures in the book. The art work was phenomenal in this book.

What I didn’t enjoy was the somewhat overuse of the word very. It seemed like every time a character was happy, sad, mad, excited there was the word very planted right before it.

Unable to read as the "Send to Kindle" feature malfunctioned.

Interested enough that I plan to buy the book

Firstly - the cover art is gorgeous. I know people tell you not to judge a book by its cover, but it is such an enthralling and beautiful image I couldn't help but want to find out more about what was inside. I think the writing was quite simplistic but that is to be expected from a middle grade type story so I didn't let that detract from my experience. I think Chloe Rose and the Enchanted Maze is a great little read that shows the power and importance of friendship and bravery and I think this would be a great read for a younger audience

This one’s cover and description really called to me, but unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it.

The writing was very stilted and simplistic. I read a lot of MG, and there is a difference between writers who do a beautiful job choosing words that are not too complicated, and writers who write as if early reader’s don’t know synonyms or can’t handle 10+ word sentences, which is where this one fell for me. MG tends to have more coincidences and repetition, but this just had too many and I found myself wishing I would DNF it, but also wanting to see the ARC through to the end so I would know if it perhaps got better.

That said, the art was lovely, and the high point of my reading experience - I wondered at one point if maybe this could have been better as a picture book or graphic novel.
